The editorial at DC has been non-existent for a good many years now.

As a fan, I really just want to see a bonkers Chapterhouse/Heretics adaptation.

It pains the Dune fan in me to say that I think this movie will be a giant bag of meh. None of those big sweeping scifi visuals are new enough to modern audiences to warrant interest. See the John Carter movie. Also, big mistake breaking it into two parts. I could have egg on my face when this comes out, but I think Children of Dune will be as good as it gets for this franchise on screen. Arrival was amazing because the ideas in it were amazing. Blade Runner 2.0 had nothing to add to the convo established by the first film.

Tent it, pump some steam in there, and then flatten on a vacuum table. Wait... whaddaya mean you haven't made your own vacuum table? Sweet pages. Congrats. Also, at first glance, I thought those were apple crullers and I got excited.

What did you get? I've been waiting to find a decent large tablet for this that's the same size as an actual comic. Then, I might consider going digital.

Imagine handing someone a VHS rewinder today. It's like the 20th century equivalent of a spitoon.

We won't discuss how much money I spent on LDs back then. And people complain about Bluray prices... hah! $35 for your basic run-of-the-mill LD title. Criterion and MGM special releases were $50 and up. I remember when I got the '93 Star Wars remaster boxed set. It was a day long remembered.

This triggered almost as much nostalgia for me as the Robotech opening you posted.

In middle school, I saved some money and bought a NM- Showcase 30 (1st Aqualad) from a dealer in the back of the Overstreet Price Update (iirc). It arrived, looked great, was under Guide, and I was as happy as a middle school comic nerd can be having just scored his first high grade Silver minor key. I took it to one of the monthly Dallas Fantasy Fair shows and showed it off to a dealer I had befriended who was big into Silver DC too. He quickly pointed out the color touch on the inside spine. I didn't even know restoration was a thing! I was so upset, it never even occurred to me to send it back for a refund. I traded it at a loss that day on the show floor for a Batman Year Two set. I was so angry and determined to make my money back, I spent the rest of the day working the dealers in the room -- buying, selling, trading like a shark -- until I had made up for my loss. I'd love to know who sold that thing to me. (I wish I could remember the dealer who pointed out the resto. Does anyone remember a dealer who used to frequent the Dallas shows in the late 80s/early 90s -- who was from, I think, Virginia or the Carolinas, and had a sizable ultra high-grade DC Silver collection? He was very picky about condition. Youngish? Blond-ish maybe? My memory fails me.)

Of course his writing, but he also oversaw so many great projects during his tenure as Bat editor. And I always looked forward to the From the Den columns. He was very accommodating signing my first appearance of Lady Shiva.
