A few people have had custom wood cabinets made. I would caution against anything stained and enclosed. The off-gassing from the stain will continue for years. I tanned a whole book collection this way. It was sad. And those were open shelves. A closed cabinet would be even worse. If you must however, the clamshell Microchamber boxes would be the only way I would consider this. Remember, you are only the art's custodian for awhile! Shipping Here are art mailers- https://airfloatsystems.com/printpad And you can put the art/mylar/backing bundle into a 13x19 polybag to keep the water out during shipping- https://www.bagsunlimited.com/product/3785/13-x-19-original-art-print-sleevebr13-14-x-19-14-15-mil-font-color34cb56polypropylenefontbr1-12font-colorred-resealablefont-flap @Architecht @denaCan we get this pinned as a storage supplies thread? We get a lot of these questions and it would be good to separate them out from the overly long Newb thread. Thanks! @BCoffeeIf they pin this, can you edit your post title to "Original Art Storage and Preservation Supplies"? Thanks!
  2. Have a look at the 13x19 Itoya portfolios- https://smile.amazon.com/Portfolio-inches-Storage-Display-Sleeves/dp/B0016ML7YE/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=13x19+itoya+portfolio&qid=1577204465&sr=8-1
  3. Re: Collectors Insurance... per my last call from them: You might want to double-check with CI on these details, but USPS Express Signature Required has been a good and sometimes better option for me than FedEx Express in cases like this. You could also just make your own label and email the PDF to the shipper. For FedEx you can just ballpark the weight and dimensions because they re-measure them anyway for billing.
  4. I always liked this book. An underrated gem and cool concept. Suitable for box diving for you kids that still do that.
  5. Just so I am consistently a rotten, dirty pinko commu-socialist... I hope whoever sold the Frankie cover for the $1M minus $35K windfall (or whatever the consignor's cost basis was) considers kicking back a percentage to Liz Wrightson.
  6. And better- https://comicarttracker.com/profiles-in-history-auctions/2019-12-12
  7. I'd definitely drop the artist a line and apply some pressure from that end.
  8. I emailed Bonhams TWICE asking to pin this down. No reply other than condition report. So, no bid. Sold for $62.5K. If it is vintage, someone got a deal, imo.
  9. Happy days are here again! The Strangers in Paradise Omnibus HC is back in print. Got my pre-order today... Glorious. As I told a buddy... If you are hesitating, don't. It's massive. The third volume has all of the covers in color. There is embossing on each hardcover, spot-gloss on the dustjackets with the 4 faces, and a bookplate (and I got a small B&W print for pre-ordering.) The endpapers are in color, reprinting some of the old wraparound covers. And again, it's massive. A bargain for the whole series. Very excited! https://abstractstudiocomics.com/product/strangers-in-paradise-hardcover-omnibus/
  10. You can just pack up that nonsense right now!
  11. Prices are still at about 1/3 of FMV! Get 'em while you can! Swan and Chiaramonte KRYPTON CHRONICLES #1 PAGE 5 I know there are a lot of Swan pages flying around right now, but I cherry-picked this great Supergirl-Superman page with them in every panel hanging out in the Fortress of Solitude. Classic Swan Super-close-up. And I love the "don't tug on Superman's cape" sight gag too! https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?id=1360892 Ethan Van Sciver HAL JORDAN AND THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS #15 PAGE 7 SPLASH Insane forced perspective shot if Hal and wonderful detail. One of the best splashes from EVS. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?id=1360894 Steve Dillon PREACHER #40 PAGE 9 I don't have to tell you how rare Areseface pages are. You won't find them. Translation: "But I'm still ugly, Fairy Godmother. I don't understand!" https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?id=1360893
  12. Mel and I had a great time. Thanks to Rob for bringing out the stuff. And to Dan. It was great seeing everyone and catching up! And The Cabal clubhouse is pretty cool! I mean, I had to tear up a Sal B. cover in front of them to gain entrance, but wow was it worth it!
  13. These are pre-production prelims/demos, but not after-the-fact recreations, correct?
  14. Anyone see the Bonhams auction? Bonhams : A Tom Jung original Lord of the Rings concept artwork for the one sheet poster https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/25492/lot/1164/ Bonhams : A Tom Jung original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope concept artwork for the half sheet poster with additional sketches https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/25492/lot/1163/ What exactly am I looking at here? This is a painted prelimin, right? Bonhams : A Tom Jung original Star Wars: Episode IV–A New Hope concept artwork for the one sheet poster https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/25492/lot/1162/
  15. A hair dryer and an eraser have worked for me in the past. But anything stubborn goes to Gordon Christman. No Goo Gone. That stuff will leach into the paper. My old post about removing tape- https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/436172-new-way-to-remove-tape/?do=findComment&comment=10300446
  16. If every HA customer filed a non-delivery report on art/comics that were left without a proper chain of custody (signature), that would get HA's attention. They are the ones to raise a stink with, not FedEx.
  17. Make sure Cadence (and anyone you order art from) sends it Signature Required.
  18. I honestly don't think anyone in the fine art knows of or thinks about comic art outside of a passing acknowledgment of Peanuts strips. I think most fine art people think of comics and comic art as part of the overall collectibles market.
  19. Three out of this five inked their own stuff.
