  1. Congrats on acquiring a Batman 121, definitely one of the major keys of the SA. I have a copy, too and looks similar to yours. Love SA Batman comics.
  2. I'm on board! XLNT suggestion and XLNT idea for a thread here on Silver! Likewise. On board and checking to see what I have from 56. Great book, Dale. I love that time period for Superman Family books. Such an innocent time comparably.
  3. It's been over 9 months since the last post so I think I'll scan a book that just came back from CGC:
  4. Here's my copy of G.I. Combat 46 cover dated March of 1957 with a Joe Kubert Frogman cover. Jerry Grandenetti does the artwork for the final story of the comic, "Frontline Rodeo" and Bill Finger provided the -script. I think that's pretty cool because collectors associate Finger with Batman since he created the character with Bob Kane.
  5. Here's one I picked up at Comic-Con International way back in the summer of 1998. Submitted it to CGC about 4 or 5 years ago (No such animal as CGC in 1998) and it's still the single highest--graded copy. Actually, I had sold the book through Heritage over a year ago but then the buyer realized he didn't have the funds. Good thing 'cause I told the wife it was the one book I regretted selling.
  6. Thanks for the heads up, Andy. Steve
  7. Here's the second Haunted Tank cover. Cross post from War Comics Thread. G.I. Combat 92 (CGC 9.2 with White PQ) Cover dated Feb/March 1962
  8. Love the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea comic. I've been watching episodoes on Saturday night on METV. Forgotten how good that programme was. Used to watch it with my dad--RIP--and we both loved it. He was a Richard Basehart fan and I enjoyed David (Al) Hedison). Fine special effects for the era, too.
  9. Bought the book slabbed so I unless I crack it out--which I have no intention of doing--you'll have to settle for the reprint in Showcase Presents Haunted Tank Vol. 1 from 2006 or find a reader or otherwise very low-grade copy. My son-in-law wants to go to Wonder Con this year so maybe I'll look around for one there. BTW--I don't know a thing about tanks so thanks for the info. Much obliged. Steve
  10. Steve, nice one. Did you buy raw or slabbed? I don't remember seeing that anywhere. Tough as nails in that condition! Bought it slabbed, Mick, from Bob Storms at the SDCC last year. Took me a while to buy it. I really wanted it but we spent time haggling. Finally we reached an agreement. Paid a little above OSPG for it but Bob was kind enough to throw in the hard-cover edition of the latest OSPG and that sealed the deal.
  11. A favorite of mine, too, and I've even got a story to go with it: Beautiful copy, Jeff. And a great Christmas story to go along with the book. I recall buying the book off the newsstand as well. Thanks for the memories!
  12. Here's another Jerry Grandenetti cover. It's a big-box 12-center, the third 12-center of the title and the second Haunted Tank cover as well. It's also a fine example of a Grey tone cover. G.I. Combat 92 cover dated Feb/March 1962. Of the eighteen copies submitted, this copy is the single-highest graded and it has bone-white pages as well.
  13. I'll bite. It's a little rough around the edges, and probably isn't really sweet, but it presents well. You kiddin' me. That's a darn sweet copy. If you don't like the imperfections, then please sell it to me. Steve
  14. Me too. And the Adventure Comics 215. These were fun books to read and had great back-up strips. Your copies are top-of-the-line. Congrats. Steve
  15. Another great Superman Giant I bought in Hollywood. Fondly remembered. I read it once very carefully and then stored it away, keeping it all these years.
  16. Bought this book way back in 1997 (or was it 1998) when Vincent Z brought the Oakland collection to San Diego Comic Con for the 1st time. Submitted it about 4 or 5 years ago and it still remains the single highest-graded copy.
  17. I've always been in love with this Action Giant devoted to Supergirl and her exploits ever since I bought it at World Books and News at Hollywood and Vine. Still have my copy somewhere. Yours is a beauty. Steve
  18. Yes, it is a decent copy and an iconic cover. I'm waiting for my granddaughter to reach the age of six--she's almost 4 now--and then I'll take out all my S & S books and we'll read them together. Steve PS--Great seeing you in the OC at Terry's show. And thanks for the help with my box of comics.
  19. Beautiful books. Yes, it was difficult to get a good bargain--but I'm pleased you found a couple of great books. Not particularly a Marvel Zombie but I've always liked those issues. Can't go wrong with Steranko and Kirby. Congrats. Steve
  20. Here's Superman 197. 80 pg. Giants were an innovative concept to allow readers and collectors to enjoy Superman stories that were previously published in the 1950s and early 1960s.
  21. Early Legion appearance in Superboy 86. Finally snagged a copy. A 1961 10-center!
