  1. Quite frankly, I don’t care. I know you don’t want to hear that, but I don’t care. I’ve never seen a DC movie, DC-based movie that I’ve liked ever.

So basically every DC movie…… past, present, and future… either sucked, sucks, or will suck? Give me a break.

Based on this quote alone, I’ll take Dixon’s cantankerous opinion on Gunn’s future slate with a grain of salt.

Who says “CATSUP”? Did you send this message via telegram? It’s not 1812 buddy.

  3. Definitely some confusion given we have only been given tidbits of the full plan. Apparently there is another movie in the early plans that he didn't reveal the title to because it would give too much away (Lobo?).

If I had to read between the lines:

    - I don't think there will be a Peacemaker season 2.  The Waller series will take that spot.

-If Shazam 2 does well, he stays in the universe. And I will thank the Rock for staying clear of the Shazam Universe.

-Flash will serve as a one shot. Will serve to fill the void and explain the changes.

-This iteration of Aquaman is done but it isn't being revealed so people still show up to the movie (Momoa comes back as Lobo).

They're still doing Elseworlds stuff, like The Batman, and Joker... Meaning that Cavil's Superman can still exist not within Gunn's main universe... Meaning that Gunn also contributed to the executives d**king around with him.

Honestly the non-comic audiences are confused enough. I don't even believe Elseworlds would even exist at this point if the Reeves and Joker verse weren't already in motion.   For us, its fine. We are used to it from the books, but for the average movie going audience, it makes much more sense to have ONE Batman, ONE Superman, etc.

You are reading into the intent. I didn't say Gunn purposely left Cavill out of the picture. He was instructed by the WB Studios not to include him. So he went with a shadowed representation.

But now he is the co-CEO. He has the power. And that scene clearly demonstrated he was recognizing the JL. And he acknowledges Cavill was screwed around previously.

He has the power here now.

Fair enough, and yes he has the power now.    But now that he has the creative control, why shouldn't he go forth with HIS vision and HIS roadmap for cohesiveness?  Just for Cavill? Thats not reasonable.

We are all a little upset with how the studio has handled things over the past decade.  From your post, even GUNN himself is upset about it.   But to scapegoat Gunn for the past is unfair.   Just my two cents.

What it comes down to is years of WB Studios tampering and disruptive leadership. So I wouldn't just throw this as the Snyder fandom as the problem. If not for them, Zack Snyder's Justice League would have never seen the light of day.

And in the case of Peacemaker, Gunn used the existing JL cast at the end of the show. So to keep Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa, kind of hint at doing something with Gal Gadot maybe, but definitely no Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck seems vectored in on individuals. And not sensible in the end.

There is no way Gunn knew he would become co-Ceo when filming the JL cameo in Peacemaker. I highly doubt it was Gunn's choice to keep Cavill out of that cameo.

WBD should be bothered by what Gunn said, because he's right. Gunn is also part of d**king Cavill around, though. If they're still doing Elseworlds stuff, Cavill's Superman could be a part of that.

I agree Gunn is right. Cavill was unfairly treated by the FORMER regime, but it is certainly unfair to say Gunn is ALSO a part of "pickling" Cavill around. If an older Superman does not fit into his vision and plan, should he change his entire vision for an actor?

I see Gunn's words as a clear extension of an olive branch to the Snyder fandom.  This Snyder vs Gunn B S has to be put to rest.

Don't worry. If the next movie does not do better than the first (which is a very low bar) then Shazam will be toast as well.

I agree 100%.  Shazam 2 does well, he stays.  Flops, then bye bye.  I think the same could be said for all 4 DC movies slated in 2023.    Is Ezra a weirdo? Sure. But if he could bring in a billion at the box office, he will become miraculously rehabilitated and go on a talk show sympathy tour.    In the words of Puff Daddy, "Its all about the Benjamins".

  9.

    Im LOVING these ideas.

I love the idea of a hardcore Supergirl. Raised in a dystopia and then comes to earth. What a great juxtaposition to Superman.  Two Kryptonians raised completely differently.

Swamp Thing as a true horror movie? Pinch me.  Lanterns in the vain of True Detective!!  GOT=esque Paradise Island?

....and lastly not only am I happy Gunn is writing the Supes flick, I pray he also directs it.

I will go back to hiding under my rock now.

  10. Sounds brilliant to me. This is what this Mythology that started it all deserves. I am ALL IN.

and sounds like this year's slate will have purpose.. Shazam is sticking around, Blue Beetle will continue, Flash will serve as a transition movie.. Aqua man? Still not sure about that one.

  11. IDK about you guys, but that was pretty exciting to me. Also sounds like this year's slate of movies are part of the continuity. Shazam, Blue Beatle, etc are sticking around. Flash will used as transitional. Those new projects sound GREAT. A Lanterns TV show... with John Stewart. The Paradise Island TV show being Game of Thrones-esque. (I smell NUBIA!!)

Also love the idea of DC Elseworlds.

    Whats not to like!!!

(Kindly refrain from turning me into your punching bag)

I don't think it's about super hero fatigue, so much as Marvel and bad movie/show fatigue. Phase 4 has been beyond meh.

This. It comes down to good storytelling.

i dont want to derail the topic here, but storytelling is exactly why I am bullish on Gunn and DC right now. The man is a great storyteller.

I hope he does well, for many reasons including the sake of the superhero genre on a whole, which trickles down to our hobby. We need a little disruption right now.
