  1. None of my local comic stores buy graded books, and only one that I know sells them. In one store where the owner uses a 2016 OSPG to value his books (mentioned above), the owner has been collecting for many years, and simply doesn't trust 3rd party grading. And for that reason only buys and sells raw, something I can definitely respect for a guy who 3rd party grading is fairly recent, ie. last 15-ish years.
  2. Was at a comic store I don't usually buy from, and found an unpriced book with no bag/board sitting in a stack of comics. (it was Shazam! 27) I figured the owner would give it to me for $1-$5 as it wasn't in the best grade, and hadn't even been priced. The owner then proceeds to look the book up on eBay for 10 mins, before slapping a $25 price tag on the book! After that I decided I'd go back to my regular comic store where the guy uses an outdated 2016 OSPG to value his books.
  3. Yeah. I don't know. Never heard of the sight. Just joking around.
  4. You can't trust a Canadian website. It's a scam.
  5. Finally picked up a copy of Swamp Thing #1 for $34. Not a bad price given even the condition stated of FR 1.0. However, after looking at the scans, and reading the description (complete and attached, just a couple of large-ish tears, and a corner missing from the BC), I can't see how its not at least a 2.0. I guess we'll have to see after the book arrives.
  6. I feel like at this point it's just becoming a game of "he said, she said." I dunno, I hope they can figure something out.
  7. Buyer said he would return only after getting the PayPal $300, not before. I've only ever been refunded after I returned my item, never before. Also if @Peoplesjim and @BSeldin305 did this through eBay, and not the CGC message boards there would be a lot more security and safety netting in case anyone is trying to scam the other. I realize the window for returns has closed, but sellers can still offer returns through eBay anytime. They just can't be initiated by the buyer after the window has closed.
  8. Speaking of. Is trimming restoration, or just really small, controlled, deliberate "missing pieces?"
  9. Yeah I remember purchasing a lot of 2 books, JLA #1 and B&B 30. (JLA 1 was complete but coverless, and 30 was about a 3.0) It was listed for $100. A pretty good price mind you. I messaged the seller for more pics. They sent, pics and I purchased the books. After purchasing I realized the seller sent me an offer (on my other eBay account where I messaged them) for $75. I already purchased the item for $100 and messaged the seller asking if they would be willing to still give me the $25 discount. I obviously got no response. But hey still got an alright deal.
  10. But why would you "rely" on information you could not detect yourself? This isn't true in every sense. Its black and white in that if it is present or not. But it's not black and white to the naked eye, as neither of you detected it. I only ask that you consider this from the sellers perspective. Both of you are getting an undesirable outcome from this situation. He had a book that he thought was unrestored, sells it, and 5 months later a guy wants $100 from him. He has no idea what could have been done to the comic, by either you (not saying anything was done) or CGC. He was not in possession of the book during those 5 months. He is not responsible for what happened during those 5 months (even if something didn't happen). Conversely, you are at a loss in the grade your book returned as. Both of you are at a loss in this situation. If you get a partial refund, the only one at a loss is the seller, and if you get no refund the only one at loss is the buyer. You should get a full refund and return the book regardless of $$$ spent on grading. In this case both of you loose a little $$$ and each take part of the blame. Then again, just my opinion.
  11. No. I can slightly understand sellers refunding due to unknown restoration, as restoration isn't subjective like grading. But definitely not with just grade differences. Buy the book, not the grade. This includes unknown restoration. Check for yourself before you ship to CGC. Always inspect the book thoroughly, check for completeness and restoration. A lot of trouble can be avoided this way. The biggest reason this isn't blowing over well is because it has been 5 months since the purchase. @BSeldin305 check for restoration yourself before you send to CGC. If detected you could have returned it for a whole refund and not wasted the $$$ for grading. If you could not detect the restoration yourself, then you have just as much reason to be frustrated with yourself as you do the seller.
  12. Disorganization is only good when the seller doesn't know what he has in his disorganized boxes. This allows for deals to be found. Obviously for the seller this isn't a plus, and allows the buyer to get a great deal while giving the seller the short end of the stick. As a seller it would make no sense to have a disorganized booth especially if you don't know your own stock. You won't sell very much, and what you do sell, will usually be a great deal for the buyer and a poor one for you.
  13. Oh, there was more risk than you would think, I actually I almost lost the book. I originally offered him $8. He countered with $10. Then I countered with $9. He then declined without a counter. So I was like "dang, I could have gotten it for $10," and shot him another best offer for $10 and got the book. But hey all's good and I have my $2.
  14. 2nd Black Manta, I'll take it. Needed it for my Aquaman run anyway. Actually got it for $10 after a best offer.
  15. Yeah I'm planning on picking those up to. Got a copy of SC 60. His 9 issue SA run also seems like a fun lot of books to try to put together.
  16. Oh yeah, it's The Murph. Who doesn't love some Murphy Anderson Spectre?
  17. Neither. No one is awarded points. Its a draw, both are equally lame to the same degree. Now for some cool boys, Fatman The Human Flying Saucer vs Captain Marvel (Weird one from the 60's who yells "split,' and his arms detach, the M.F. Enterprises version)
  18. Psylocke, because she's not staring in Dark Phoenix Hawkman artist time Murphy Anderson VS Joe Kubert
  19. We talking OG, DC Captain Carvel or Marvel Captain Marvel?
  20. It's actually really odd. You would think that with a character as well know as say The FF, it wouldn't fluctuate too much based on price. However we've seen this sort of thing before with even bigger books. Anyone remember the 9.4 copy of All-Star 8 that sold for just under 1mil on eBay after the movie came out? Oddly enough movies affect even the real big boys. I can't, for the life of me, imagine someone seeing Wonder Woman and then suddenly decide to drop 900k+ on her first app, but It happens.
