  1. After 4 grand for them. I think that's fair. 20 watchers on eBay. I had two guys I thought I had sold them to but they turned out to be tyre kickers, both of them. Don't really want to sell them but I need the money. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202738826977?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 And a link to scans of all 311 books - https://www.amazon.co.uk/clouddrive/share/sOdpLRKIuYyxY6KZrCrzP5nvzuUq39QcHPVQ5nQPWeT What do you lot reckon? Many of them have been bought multiple times and I've always then sold the lesser copy. So some really high grade books and even a couple double covers. £12.86 is the average price per book, so why the bloody hell has no one bought!?
  2. Haha that is gold! Guess the computers won't be taking over the world after all. Stick to playing chess!
  3. 01:55 Thursday, 15 August 2019 (GMT+10) Time in Victoria, Australia He opened it then went to bed... Likely unhappy.
  4. It was excellent, I didn't want it to end, can't wait for episode 2 The blonde woman was creepy as hell, cold and calculating, how I imagine Myra Hindley was, pretty obvious they used for reference.
  5. Lets look on the bright side here, it's an eBay NM++ But probably a CGC 4.0
  6. 6.0 for me. A press will help it out a lot.
  7. Best of luck with it I couldn't live there at all. The heat would kill me. Been 20 degrees here the last few weeks, everyday, and set to continue and get worse! That's just 68 degrees in your money... It's too much for me.
  8. Cheers Kav... Wouldn't want to insult any snowflakes now would we
  9. Unlike most of you lot, I never had any comics as a kid. I got into comics age 30 and I'm now 36. But in that time I have bought and sold some nice books.... I've had T.o.S#39, X-Men#1 x2, GS X-Men #1 x2, ASM#50, 129, DD#1, several ASM#300's, several NM#98's, BA#12 x2, Bats#181 #171 Avengers#4 IM#1 Cap#100, Hawkman#1 & #4, TMNT#1..... all sold, I didn't really regret selling any of them at the time but the money is obviously long gone and all I have now are the memories. I'll buy them again, I'm sure, and I'll probably sell them again too, it is what it is and it's nice to get a chunk of change every now and then, still, my collection is 'key light' and prices keep rising. I wish I could buy a big key and then forget I have it.
  10. Also, there's a lot of terrible listings on eBay. No scans. Horrible photo's taken with a 2001 nokia... What then? Automatic 'inconclusive'
  11. I wonder if they will be taking on new graders? Seems like the perfect work from home type of job. I would definitely be interested. And I can foresee this taking off in a big way.
  12. Actually, I think I jumped the gun, I just read through what they're offering and see no mention of signatures or authentication of signatures. Still, this is good news. Let's find a book that will test them edit - How about that Superman #1 reprint they graded as an original....
  13. I answered my own question - Well part of it - First post from the thread over there...
  14. A better explanation than my own - Quote: Back in the day when retailers wanted to get credit for unsold copies the distibutors would have the do this and send in just the torn off title, because it was cheaper than having retailers return the whole book. I beleive retailers were supposed to destroy these, but obviosly many of them were sold at a discount as "remaindered copies."
  15. Nah, I was thinking of the books that have the top third removed... By the newsagent if I remember right. I just googled it and found a whole thread on it over on 'the other guys' forum. Like this Did that ever happen on a huge book? What colour label would it be assigned? I'm guessing purple, but purple indicates restoration and this sort of thing is anything but! It is destruction, purposefully damaged by the newsagent so that they couldn't be sold on the stands instead of being returned to the printer. Quite a few survived though, I see them quite often but say I ever saw one slabbed.
  16. What colour label do those remainder copies get? Did anyone ever have one graded? Is it remainder? Is that the right word? You know, those books where the top third of the cover is cut off. It's destruction rather than restoration... Should they have a black label? I wonder if one exists for an AF15? Or any major key. That would be a damn shame!
  17. I own a Star Wars #2 (modern series) which is graded 9.8... That right there is an example of a book that should not ever be graded. I don't even know how I own it, I certainly did not submit it myself and I don't remember buying it. It must be worth ten times less than the cost of having it graded in the first place
  18. Definitely not this! ''The thickest published book measures 322 mm (12.67 in) in width and was unveiled by HarperCollins in London, UK, on 20 May 2009. All Agatha Christie's Miss Marple stories - 12 novels and 20 short stories - are collected and published in this volume. The book contains 4,032 pages and weighs 8.04 kg.''
  19. Just have a read through this and tell me Church (Or his heirs) didn't get royally screwed by Chuck. He cleared out the house using 'chicken boxes' that held 300-400 books per box, he paid on a per box basis, and he dealt with an estate agent who's only concern was having the house emptied. The truth will never be known as to how much exactly was paid but I'll hazard guess and say it was way less than 5k. And how much has he made off them? He's a multi millionaire. He's also a scumbag! http://www.milehighcomics.com/tales/cbg12.html
  20. I'd say the guy he ripped off, Edgar Church, was the most significant comic collector, not Chuck.
  21. I found an insufficiently_thoughtful_person who doesn't know what he has,.. I filled my boots, bought a new pair and am going back to fill those too! So those 16 books... Tree fiddy? Worth five grand or more
