  1. Is Supergirl throwing up a gang sign? Metropolis wut
  2. I couldn't care less what's inside. I bought them to place in a mylar and perhaps a frame too. I bought them more as pieces of art than comic books. I like reading and smelling old comics. I wouldn't like to read these books at all. The thought of reading them didn't even enter my mind to be perfectly honest, only the thought of how best to display them and where in my house? I'm sure that statement will go down like a lead balloon with some of you lot but that's the truth of it.
  3. Show me someone who hates these covers and I'll show you a liar! I'm not a huge fan of moderns (except Star Wars) but it's hard to hate such beautiful work. I see a cover like this, I'm buying it, no questions asked I have over 800 modern star wars, down to just buying the action figure covers now and any that looks so nice I can't pass (like these three). Yea they sucked me in good on that but I don't care, I enjoy them and that's what counts.
  4. No love for The Flash?! Or the price? Ok $600 posted to the States or £450 posted in the UK. Anywhere else you let me know and I'll have a look.
  5. All right, I'll have a go. It'll be an educated guess, there or there about's, hit it and hope grading style and I fully expect to be eliminated in the first round. But it'll be worth it to see just how BAD I really am at grading comics
  6. The Flash 35 book lot This is my first sales post and I hope it will be my first sale here. I'm looking to sell these books asap before I change my mind. I will not split them so it's all or nothing. I live in England, they will go out via the best service, tracked and insured worldwide for £40 ($50). Payment via PayPal only. I will send a full invoice. No returns, so please do not jump in and buy unless you are 100% sure they're for you! First takes them. Some of these books are really very nice indeed. Here are scans of them all. If you need any more info or back cover scans, I'll get on it. The scans of the best ones are in mylar, it's crystal clear, but if you want the book shown outside the bag or shots of the insides of the books I'll sort it. I think that covers all of the rules. I won a cool prize in the raffle and sent out my own prize too which was well received. That's the only deal I've done here. Enjoy perusing these gems of the Silver and Bronze ages. They are all looking for a new home. Sorry Flash Looking for £550 which is $711.51 according to google at this instant. Works out on average at just over £15 per book, considering the nice condition of them and a couple of minor keys I think this is very fair. Or... Try your luck and make an offer, I don't bite, well not unless poked anyway! Oh and here's my eBay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/barkeuk_sdwax?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 If you see anything there you might fancy too then let's work something out. 7. I have reported him to trading standards via the citizens advice bureau. Hoping they shut him down!
  8. Another scumbag! The worst I've seen. This guy has 900 items for sale, all signed... According to his feedback 175 poor souls have been duped! How on gods green earth has he maintained a 100% record?! He wants shutting down pronto! And a good hiding too if you ask me! eBay These are all £200 to £500.... Looks like he even set up his own site to somehow 'authenticate' them. His write up: Backed & Matted Marvel's 'The Mighty Thor' DVD, signed by the Legend Stan Lee Size:16x11 Everything we sell is 100% guaranteed to be authentic. The item in the photo is the one you will receive, We do offer reduced postage for multiple purchases. International bidders please contact me first for postage costs.. 9. Actually, with very little effort at all. I think this 'modification' was made many, many years ago, the tape had almost no grab at all left to it and just came away easily, but it's left most of the glue on the book. I've read this tape glue residue can be removed but I'll not be attempting that. There is still a piece of tape on the inside front cover I'm leaving alone too. The staples were removed with needle nose pliers. I didn't like that the book wouldn't open fully with the added staples in place. And I figured my removal of the tape and staples wouldn't affect the already rock bottom grade. Please correct me if I'm wrong about any of this. Here's a quick snap of what came off it minus one staple that's been lost. Just look at that tape! It's set in the shape of the book it was added too, my guess 40+ years ago! And that corner is from another book
  10. I see. What if the 1000 books were all listed? What if you just say it's $5 per book and your book is chosen at random, what then? I did consider doing this exact same thing on eBay. The only downside I see is that if your big book goes in the first 100 then it will make it harder to sell the rest, and you'd need to sell them all to make it work. That and you might get negative feedback when at the other end your West Coast Avengers #37 is purchased and returned by someone like BITCOINSWAMI I'm thinking it could work, that's all. They are all over eBay and all they get is drek! People buy them anyway. There is zero chance anyone who ever buys a grab bag gets anything like a key book. They get Web of Spider-Man or some other rubbish... One that was legit would be great for everyone concerned. I could pull out 400 books, charge 12.50 each sell all 400 and have 5k. If your top book is something like a nice giant size X-Men #1 or similar and the cost off all of them together is 3k or so then it's worth doing.
  11. Don't know whether I'm pleased or not, but I drew a blank. I was hoping for something as funny as that! Make it a caption contest?!
  12. Well I actually sold my car once to buy books! If that's not an obsession I don't know what is!
  13. Does beg the question. Why is no one on here running a grab bag sorta thing? With a legit chance to win something good? With say 1000 books and a who's won what type of list so we can see what's gone and what's still there. Charge $5 per book or $15 for three. That's five grand, have your top book be worth a grand or something, have ten in the 50-100 range and 50 in the 25 range... Let the rest be drek or low grade silver and bronze. I would go for it, the chances would be slim, but the chance would be there at least, which it is just not with an eBay grab-bag. No one cares about wasting $5-25 a month so no one loses but just imagine winning something like an Action #252 for your $5... I'd definitely have a go at the end of each month
  14. Well it arrived, and I'm a little disappointed with the condition. I removed the tape and three extra staples that went straight through the book. And the piece of cover that was from another book! Of course the cover is now detached, but at least it opens up fully. Anyway, it's on eBay, it's not the book I was hoping for and it's not staying in my collection for long... The hunt continues!
  15. That's quite surprising to read that they will grade it as if the tape wasn't there, I do wonder though, it says cellophane tape, looks like duct tape or masking tape was used on this one, since we can't see through it must surely affect the grade... And that top right corner I do want it removed already, spoils the look. If anyone can recommend a specialist I'd appreciate it.
  16. Hi folks, I agreed a deal on an X-Men #1 woohoo! But it has this awful tape all over it, and what looks to be another piece... From another book no less, added to the top right corner of the cover! I hope to have it here tomorrow. These are the only (terrible) pictures I had to work with. I'm wondering can, or should, this tape be removed? Is it something I might tackle myself or might I have a professional look at it? Is it restoration to remove the tape? Once the work was done, what grade could it reach?? I will take some better pics once it lands. Cheers, Dan
  17. Two smashing books there. Great show.
  18. A trial by combat should be the only way to AGGRESSIVELY sort out a mess like this. Employ The Mountain as your champion and these clowns might think twice before trying to sue!
  19. Good to know, it will be quite a find if one pops up then. Cheers.
  20. Nice topic. I like a date stamp. Were they still stamping them in 1982? If they were and if anyone has July 18th Here's a couple of Superman books I bought not too long ago; #190 dated August 2nd (1966) & #208 dated May 13th (1968)

    This guy!

Just listen to this grown man whinge and cry about his .5 DD#1... His voice really is like nails on a blackboard. I could stand all of 8 minutes of it. See how you do. https://youtu.be/MS6NsmHH0bE
