2019 March Madness - Round of 24
Dan82 replied to BlowUpTheMoon's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Unlucky! And thanks. I really dropped the ball on that CC and gave it 8.5 real nice looking book... 7.0 is harsh for that one. I was a point away on t'others. For the longest time I had those first three pegged as 8.0 but changed my mind at the last second, should have stuck with my original thoughts AC 7.5 | 8.0 CC 8.5 | 7.0 SUPES 8.0 | 7.5 X-MEN 9.8 | 9.6 I can't believe I'm still in this thing! Or awake at 04.20... Time for a victory spliff I think Well done winners. Commiserations losers. -
2019 March Madness - Round of 48

Great advice, thanks. I have actually started the lonnng task of scanning them all, any book in mylar was scanned directly without removal though. I reckon I'm about a third of the way through, maybe half. Should have removed them and done front and back with a quick check for a double. I think I'll do that from now on, cheers. -

Here's one for you... How can I find double covers in my collection? I know for sure I'm holding two and they're in my ASM collection, but I've forgotten which exactly they are and I'll be damned if I'm removing them all from the bags to find out. I was thinking a micrometer or some digital scales that weight to a hundredth of a gram? But then I thought about the bags and boards which are not all the same. And the fact not all comics are cut the same.... Does anyone know what a cover actually weighs or how thick it is (not me the cover, silly) -

You'd like to think they'd catch it. The reverse order pages is very odd, I can't think how that happened at the print shop? I gave it a 9.0 I figured the page / 's were the result of a blunt slicer when it was cut and so it would be hit too hard. How was it slabbed? Did they tuck that piece in or something? I'd have thought that book un-slabbable because of the problem and it looks like it's no longer there?
-
I'd want a page, third appearance of The Bat, 1st Batman villain. I'd have that framed instead of slabbed. An ad page or non bat story... Not so much. I'm not sure I'd have the nerve to slap down 1900 on THAT book though considering what else I could have for that amount of dosh. Even if I do think it's a good idea.

I'm in England. It was Odeon here, and after a quick look AMC in the US. Odd that it wasn't available in to you Canadians. There's a digital copy free online http://read.marvel.com/#/labelbook/49874 https://uk.ign.com/articles/2018/09/14/venom-is-getting-an-exclusive-custom-comic-book-movie-tie-in

Bingo! I got one at the cinema. Everyone who went to see it in like the first week of release got one.

Buy it. Slice each remaining wrap in half and grade everything. Pick out the one you like most and sell the rest. You have an incomplete Tec 29 you will still have an incomplete Tec 29.... You'll probably make back more than the $1,900 original investment. Don't feel bad about it either. More people get to own a piece of a historic book, you get your piece for free and likely make some cash along the way too. It's what I'd do. Slap a $100 price on the two staples and see if some sucker buys them LOL

2019 March Madness Grading Tournament Prize Thread

I'll offer this beauty. It's a perfect facsimile of Playboy #1 with all original ads and everything. And no ugly barcode on the cover! 9.8 if you ask me, but well, we will soon see how good or bad I am at grading -
I like to read the originals and digital on my amazon fire. I enjoy reading an original more than I do a digital, but with digital there's no worries of damaging the book and I can read it in the bath (my favourite place to read)

eBay doesn't care. These people need a severe and vicious beating in my opinion. -
I'd do the deal if it were a straight swap. A quid the other way, or a 7 nifty as it'd be here, I don't reckon.

The Hulk? Or Wolverine? Or second appearances? Or all three combined? Yea, I'm the same haha
