  1. A nice little gem from the late Marie Severin. This piece was done in 2001 and I’m happy to add this to my growing Submariner collection:
  2. That issue is not difficult to find as it is always trading due to value but books like 23,24,30 I’m after either are very high grade expensive cooies I can’t afford or non existent (30 especially ). Price def is big factor in buying these
  3. Frenz is back from framers and he’s filled a hole in my Black Suit Spider gallery. It’s looking good but I need that elusive John Byrne Black suit Spidey to close this out .....
  4. Yeah def not my fav cover wise for sure . Low grade versions are harder to find in blue labels that I know ...
  5. I bought my tmnt 9.0 two years ago from comic connect first printing blue label for 5K. Why did I sell that book lmao .... sigh
  6. I do have them and what a set! Now to get the comic back ....
  7. One thing I’m really learning is respect in trying to collect these . I’m totally understanding the difficulty in obtaining and buying at a decent price is not an easy task. I knew from the start I would be on lower end of collecting Subby’s I wanted to stay in 2-4.0 range but my goal is no restored books. So far so good . The difficult part is accepting that even with money in hand finding a particular issue is not like Silver Age era and beyond. You have to get in line and wait . When one does come up it’s eye opening how fast and expensive a book can rocket up. The other point I wanted to make is not all issues exist in low grades. I have a cgc census from last year I printed off to use as a guide on issues I’m after and what’s been graded . Some books exist only above 3.0 or more which puts me in more pricey buy in and more competitive bracket to obtain these . Im learning and having fun collecting these . It’s been most rewarding for me over any other period as it also feeds my urge for the hunt!
  8. Well I almost feel embarrassed to post after these great books but I have been busy trying to slowly get this run completed. I’ve got my work cut out for me... side note got my Everett Subby sketch back from from framers not the correct thread but it’s appropriate imo and I don’t think anyone would mind .
  9. When I frame it depends on size of the piece . Standard commissions are awkward to frame such as 11 x 17” . Most framers will recommend 2-2.5” mattes ( that’s width ) I def don’t use that thickness on 11 x 17. You have also have to take into account where artists signatures are. On a few of my Spiderman pieces I covered them up because it would have had an odd thicker lower edge . I only use black frames and acid free mattes but every piece is different from one beside it. In my photo I had one odd ball Namor Vs Torch where I used white matte that had aqua core meaning when you cut it it’s aqua coloured inside . This was done because Namor’s trident and the Torches flame extended past border of main image I felt a black outer matte would have really made image feel small. I have a lot of fun framing my art . I buy what I can afford but I def don’t cheap out on framing . Every piece is custom cut and hand picked by me to fit with my group of art. I have odd sizes from 9 x 12” to 11 x 17” to 10” x 14” to 18” x 24”. I lay it out on table with framer we mix and match until I’m happy . Every frame is hand picked , only use art grade museum UV glass and mattes are generally all black with either white or black core but I also add accent coloured matte to bring out something from the art .
  10. Couple more pics I dig up . I miss this book ...
  11. Just got it back today . I love how classic it looks .
  12. One of my regrets in collecting I traded my first printing of Tmnt in 9.0 to get a AF15 which I also don’t own now . Used the money to buy my condo so I guess I ddI the right thing but I do have a cool signed 5th printing .....
  13. It’s a shame he’s still operating like this . I’d love to get him charged
  14. I bought a finished piece what was the issue there ? All he had to do is ship it and couldn’t do that either ? Then he reposted it on CAF same day I had to file a PP claim? He’s a crack head
  15. Yeah well ill continue as long as I want here so people can read this when they are thinking about commissioning that trash. Just because you got art doesn’t mean he’s not a fraud . I just spoke to another Canadian collector today who was scammed as well. Pricing your art low to fish for victims is a scam no? People trust like I did I don’t want to listen to opinions that are not mine . I gave him a fair shake and he was everything I’ve read about and worse . I’m currently trying to have him banned from CAF. He doesn’t need to be there in any regard. His comic days are long over
  16. This turned out amazing . One of the definitive black suit Spidey artists in 80s. Greg did a fantastic render for me combining elements of ASM 100 but I wanted him to pop off the page so I requested a black background . He chose black paper the rest was pure magic! Greg LaRocque
  17. It doesn’t seem that way but he’s done imo as an artist . You type his name on google and it links you to countless stories and forums where he rips people off . You can’t shake that off and hopefully it keeps others from being burned . What a loser
  18. Why he’s not banned from CAF is beyond words . People need to boycott this guy he’s a criminal. Everything he does constitutes fraud.
  19. Finally had my Submariner’s sent to cgc . I’m pleased all came back blue label and my eye remained consistent over the years picking these up . They are cool books . Not as sought after as WW2 covers but he just shifted focus onto communist enemies now. Issue 33 is easily my fav of the bunch with a classic Bill Everett cover and very tough book to find in grade being a black cover .
