  1. I also collect golden age Submariner Timelys . My sweet spot is 2-2.5 cgc and I’m excited every time I can add blue label in this range . Price differences are staggering from 3.0-7.5 literally thousands and rarity becomes an issue with certain grades as the higher copies tend to be locked up pushing huge battles on auction sites for anything on bottom tiers . I’m 0/5 in auctions this year been absolutely crushed in all of them lol.

My one big add was the AF15 I’m grateful I focused enough on it to secure one . I tend be one of those collectors that always brushes off statistics and I tell myself I have time I’ll get one lol. The growth exceeds my means of saving for it every time  . I was lucky to stick to the plan this round and my copy will be left to my son who’s now only 4 months old.

I hope it pays off for him !

If you want me to be honest, I didn't really notice this until I started valuing my collection, which started less than a year ago (I think). It was very notable once I had to use price-per-point to evaluate books that hadn't had a sale for a long time. Also, I never gave it much thought, as I can't afford the high grades and I try to stay away from the low grades (0.5, 1.0, 1.5), if at all possible.

I guess it's painfully clear to someone who lives and breaths comics, but, if you asked the average Joe on the street, my guess is that they would think the lowest price per point would be for the lowest grades and the highest price per point would be with the highest grades. That seems to fit the definition of counterintuitive.

counterintuitive: contrary to intuition or to common-sense expectation (but still true).

I agree but with certain books and specifically era books like golden age low grades are not shunned. Mega grails also like AF15 is all I could hope for . I traded for 1.5 that presented well before the big auction of the 9.6 I couldn’t fathom getting a copy now . I simply don’t have enough in trade, money or combination of.

  3. Yeah because 99% of collecting world is not buying comics for that price. The only copy I’d want as an investor is a low grade book I can sell fast if I had to. Works both ways . Although high grades are beautiful in hand they can’t be easy to sell fast.

The key is they sell everyday of the week which is why lower grades I prefer .

  4. It’s a good looking copy for the grade . I think collectors know this  low grade train is moving fast and the window of ownership is all but done for most . The prices  keep climbing ….but I suspect more come out of collections to cash out .

    1. The Chinese are buying AF15s, driving the prices up, up, and up.

    2. Many times buyers of mid-grad AF15s will go in halfs with their brother.

I’m not sure why you continue to harass me.  I don’t have dial ID I use the same ID on statueforum Subby1938, submariner thread on CBR is also Subby1938. You can check out my art collection on CAF under Miles Bless, I’m also on myslabbedcomics

that should remove me from your stupid comments for good .

  6. Yeah it’s misleading to say you didn’t get books now you are . The guy is trash . Under the pressure I created from Instagram and this forum he sent me books as well ….. those guaranteed 9.8 comics I paid for arrived unannounced in 9.6.

Now that’s trash! Not only do they lie and steal , they send the wrong stuff  to say we don’t care . Google search won’t be kind to them and you know what it’s deserving . I saved the emails and it’s justified as they defrauded me out of money for goods and countless others .

I just received an order this morning from Hot Shot Comics. I must say, they were very nicely packaged and they did arrive as 9.8s.

2 copies of   EVE #1 CGC 9.8 preorder.

I do have two other CGC 9.8 preorders I am waiting on as well and will update the thread.

Who cares! No offence this seller is a huge fraud and scumbag who has ripped off countless people . You come on here to post your books to what ? Help his rep ?

    take a hike pal!
