  1. Heres it is pressed a nd cleaned...now off to cgc!
  2. I recently picked up a really nice copy of The Tick 1. It looks like its never been opened, but has tiny tears on the top and bottom of the spine. I'm wondering if these could be considered bindery tears and still have a shot at a 9.8...?
  3. I was getting my hopes up when you didnt claim you weren't a professional grader :-) I'll post the results when I get them...
  4. Damn I hope you're a professional grader. :-)
  5. Update on an old post- heres the pressed version (credit to Susan Cicconi)
  6. Theres something about this book that makes it really hard to get a non-restored nice copy.
  7. Thanks Randall- I know the source very well, he picked it up off the news stand. But I agree- I've been burned by resto on another copy of it, so I know that problem all too well.
  8. I agree - but what kind of deductions could you see from the cover alone - what’s the highest it can get assuming everything else is pristine?
  9. Thanks- I gotta figure theres something else on the back too - but good to know where it starts
  10. Unfortunately, I only have 1 picture...but based on this - whats your best guess...?
  11. There are so many SS copies out there, you'd have to get a yellow label CBCS for this...and add that to the expense of this book, not sure its worth it. Besides, I dont think anyone wants a Verified Sig if you're going to resell.
  12. I suck at grading moderns. This one looks great to me, but not sure about the back top right corner. Can't tell if this is a production error (bindery tear?), and it would prevent it from getting a 9.8. Any thoughts?
  13. Maybe one worth getting pressed and signed by Jim Lee at some point...much thanks.
  14. got it...for some reason I always thought Green was conserved. Thanks!
  15. Found this in an estate sale . I see some valuations that are all over the place on ebay, so not sure what to think. Any help would be appreciated.
  16. I have a nice GA book that seems to have archival tape along the spine of pretty much each wrap at the spine - but not on the cover (I assume it was taken apart at some point and reinforced). It was done very well and hard to tell its even there. I dont see any real repair tho...it seems applied as a precaution. Got a couple questions: -Is this an automatic Green Label? Or Purple? I know CGC says it disregards tape and just grades as if it weren't there - but not sure what they'd do in this case. -Is it possible to ask them to give it a Blue and take the hit in grade? -Is it common for GA to have 1 staple in the center (this is my only GA book, so I cant tell). Thanks!
  17. Needs a good clean and press.. (might have to take it to those other guys for verification tho) .
  18. Thanks- it wasnt stressing the spine tho- it basically just falls open like that - but point made.
  19. What do you think....its pretty clean other than a partially detached centerfold at the bottom staple, and a small spine split at the top and bottom.
  20. Slightly off topic, but can anyone else think of a book that has a similar value range as TMNT1 first print? Seems like its almost in a category of its own...FF5 is the closest I can come, but that comparison goes off the rails at 8.0 and above (FF5 is $26.5k based on GoCollect, TMNT is about 18k). My thought is thats where TMNT 1 is heading eventually.
  21. Heres an interesting one - the name hasn't been connected to the character at this point
