  1. You, too, can make your own feature film in your backyard!
  2. It is an interesting truism that those who offend the most are also the most easily offended. Isn't that so very interesting? The essence of noobness is attitude, not join date. But there was a substantial amount of time when Showcase #4 was considered the premiere Silver Age book to own. That absolutely shifted in the late 70's, as those who grew up with Spiderman and FF now had the cash to buy them up, but demand has a funny way of changing, even over relatively large measures of time. Showcase #4, even if it had similar numbers as AF #15, wouldn't likely come down to the price of a, say, Showcase #27 or #34...or maybe not even a #22. There's still a considerable amount of demand. The interplay between supply and demand isn't always easy to define.
  3. We used to have a lottery in the early 80's called "The Provincial Lottery" and the jingle was called 'You'll Love Fridays". Every time I hear the word Friday I think of that jingle. Wish I could find a link but I don't see one on YouTube. This one?PROVINCIAL LOTTERY 1983 VERSION 2 by Retrontario(non-blackface version.)
  4. By what criteria does one make such a judgment...?
  5. Wow. The days of getting a nice VG-sh copy of SC #4 for $1,000 on eBay are now 15+ years past....
  6. Seeing how an unslabbed NM copy can be had for under $20, I'd say it will last pretty long. They made sooooo many of these, considering it's a 1:25 (?). Other than establishing a rough baseline, what does the 1:25 tell us about how many they made? What I meant to say was: "Several shops must have ordered large on the #1 because I see a lot of 1:25 copies out there." Yeah, that makes sense. Any time I see a ratio book in large quantities close® to release date, I imagine it's because many shops ordered heavily on the regular.
  7. Great book! One of my Favs no doubt ! Super sexy. Now, if someone could get it signed by Simonson in Canadian... You know, something like "Simonson, eh?"

  9. It's the first appearance of a good Hulk cover in that series. Pffft.
  10. Batman #492 isn't in the same league as Turok #1. AOS #500, sure.
  11. Someone needs some "soothing newb relief™"
  12. "you'd think you'd think you knew know..."....? Can someone translate this, please...? Oh no. Math is awesome. Now PHYSICS...PHYSICS makes me furious. Damn you physics! Good. And I mean that. Maybe now you won't have to complain about what others post. My suggestion? Stick to it.
  13. Yeah hard to say if they'll stay there or not...1:100 will prob keep them scarce as I'm not sure how many stores will order that many. Now if Alex would just do a local show... It depends. It's one of many cover swipes/homages to Cap 1. Though it is a very well done one. How well do those usually hold up? Issue #6 of this title had orders of barely ~27,000, so if #7 is anywhere near that, then yes this variant would definitely have a tiny print run. According to who? According to Marvel who says they round up to the next case, and do 3-4 for high desire books. Oh yeah? Cool! Do you have documentation for this? Let's not start this again. I don't care how anal you are, you need to just let it go, and stop complaining about those questioning people who quote made-up numbers using flawed methodologies.

It depends on how many Marvel printed, and how, after the initial ratio distribution, they intend to distribute what, if any, remains.
  16. "There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can change the focus to a soft blur...or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to...."
  17. Yes. I loved it. It was a monster movie, with all kinds of monsters.
  18. I wonder if anyone's put together a complete Canadian set yet? I would, but I'm too far from he source material, and everyone else wants silly prices. Define "complete Canadian set" for me in this context please. Everything printed from 1982 (the year the parity disparity (ha!) forced the change) to 1990-ish when Archie stopped (?) They're just much to hard to find, in any condition, in the Southwest. They just don't manage to find their way here. I have maybe 50-60 of them, but of course, that's not even a dent. Mrs. Donut...always getting dragged along on your comic binges.
  19. You and your misleading comic book listings for comic books!
  20. Isn't it just amazing how willing humanity is to bald-faced lie to advance whatever agenda...which may be a fine agenda in and of itself...we may happen to have...? I went and saw 10 Cloverfield Lane on Sunday. I could have seen BvS. I had no interest in doing so. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed 10 Cloverfield Lane.
