Buckle Up Boardies, we're doing a poll to identify our favorite LB Cole covers.

There are four parts to complete Round 1 and you can select 5 covers from each subset of 20.

Can you clarify which  True-to-Life Romances #9? Is the white background cover the second series? thanks

I was follow las night's HA auction.  Ended up the underbidder on one book ( :pullhair: ) but also saw this...

Um, did I miss something?  Were 2 collectors high on Easter chocolate?  I know Cole's crime books are under-represented a bit compared to the horror  / romance genres, but this seemed a bit extreme.  Thoughts???

It is a great cover, but it's not even in my top two or three favorite covers in this run...

I thought this was an “old school comic show” not a media extravaganza. The more and the bigger the guest list, the more it costs the promoter and attendees. $50. Admission for a smaller one day show is going to probably turn off a lot potential attendees. And it is a bit steep.

Great list of dealers though for those just going to buy vintage comics. Just don’t let a little success get out of hand…

Yes, it was originally touted as a "No fake Legos" show, but it has become a bit gimmicky with "influencers" and the whole Red Carpet Experience for $50, which is just a big upcharge for a one-hour jump on the masses. To make matters worse, the first time I paid the early admission, one dealer said "Good luck on finding a good deal anywhere in here.. these other dealers are like vultures and picked me clean last night before the show and then they displayed the purchased books for way more money"... I am sure that's normal for the night before a con, but it didn't make me feel good hearing it(shrug)

Sure thing! Jim's is usually the first table I head for. I usually get the early bird ticket so I can have a little more elbow room before things get crowded, but I don't know if I'll do that this year since the tickets are now $50 instead of the regular $15 admission. $25 or $30 I didn't mind but $50 is a little steep.

$50 is totally not worth it. all you get is a bag with a bunch of worthless trinkets and advertisements, and a bunch of sleepy dealers who aren’t close to being fully set up. Two years in a row there were two or three dealers who weren’t set up until after the general admission people came in. Save the $$ for comics

I actually thought that would go a bit higher.  Maybe people are saving their pennies for the Terrors #18 8.0 that's on CC after what the #17 got tonight!

Although both covers are amazing, I prefer the cover for 18.

I have been hoping to score a cheap to reasonable Promise book during the current “downturn” but no luck even on an unpopular title. I just want to have an example in my collection of this historic pedigree. I think you are right that most of the original purchasers are just sitting on them for now.

I feel the same way now, although I was bummed that I was outbid on every Promise book at the time, but I now see that as a blessing in disguise.

  7. Here's a nice copy of Adventures into Unknown 27 that was designated "Single Highest Graded!" by ComicLink. Perhaps they meant single highest graded for the signature series but I think most would assume it's actually the single highest graded copy of this book, which is way off. There are actually about 20 total copies higher. The actual highest graded is a 9.4.

The second photo shows CLink's listing for True-To-Life Romances 11. The title states "One of only 4 graded by CGC". Oddly, the description states "Only 11 copies have ever been certified by CGC". The census shows there are actually 13 copies graded.

These auction companies can be sloppy with their descriptions, so it's always best to do your own homework...
