  1. Sadly i'm missing 137, 139 and 140! This year I had planned to pick up some of these non-key S.A. books (of course 139 is another matter) so if all goes well I should have a 111, 137 and 140 by the end of the year. I used to have a nice copy of 137 in the 90's collection probably in the 6-7 range, and my 111 was in amazing shape maybe 8.0 by today's standards? I am also missing 147 and 148 but after that I have everything all the way to 272. Being a huge Golden Age Flash fan as well 137 is high on my list. I believe it's his 3rd S.A. cover appearance? That 8.5 SC #13 is amazing! You are a fortunate Flash Fan indeed Terry!!!
  2. That would be so awesome to have!!! And its not even framed there?? It seems to be wrapped in some kind of old cellophane!!?? That cant be good for preservation. But then again most people did not even save these at all, right? (You are going to turn me into a O.A. collector one of these days Terry!) Last call to get your 136 immortalized for all time on page 136 of the Flash Collectors Thread! Get those scanners warmed up and those 137's ready, we are about to turn the page!
  3. Finally got my scanner to work again. Here's a better look at the scrappy little survivor.
  4. Sure, whoever is next on the list just PM me and its yours!
  5. I agree! The box at the bottom does look a bit better. This one seems to be in nice shape! Your search for these books today reminds me of hunting for old comics back in the early days of collecting here in the U.S. Garage sales and used book stores. Many, many hours searching and almost never finding what you wanted. Still, the few times when you did come across something, it made it special and gave you fresh hope to continue the search!
  6. It's so cool to see the Australian covers Terry!
  7. It looks like a cloth tape binding that says "100 pages". Not a bad idea for a square bound comic!
  8. Yes, from the 90's collection. My 116 this 136 and a few others and of course my G.A. collection like my Flash #3. I had to sell and had a choice to make. I figured when it came time to rebuild that the S.A. would be the easiest to replace, so I reluctantly let them go and kept the Golden Age books, they are much harder to find and purchase!
  9. This was one of the very few the dealers wouldn't take that fateful day when I had to sell my second collection of S.A. Flash back in early 2000. And so it is special to me, worn and missing some of its color it survived, kinda like me.
  10. And I even added one more last min prize. I'm sure the picking will continue sometime today. I'll have to go back and see where they left off yesterday.
  11. One of my all time favorite covers! And we see Kid Flash there in his original costume. You can see why it had to change. Having them both in identical costumes just wasn't going to work. I thought they did a good job on its design. Very modern look and unique. What do you all think of the (new) bold yellow and red trim costume?
  12. Just 5 posts left Flash Fans! Immortalize your copy of Flash #135 on page 135 of the Flash collectors thread while you can! Get yer 136's ready for the scanner but hang on to 'em 'til we start the new page please
  13. Very nice! So you bought it off the spinner rack in the 60's? What did you think of Kid Flash and his new look?
  14. Also I noticed we are down to the last few prizes. My prize was a choice of two, the first was picked early on, I will throw in the Atomic Punk package as the last prize if anyone wants it. Just PM me
  15. Thank you all for another great tournament! Its always the most fun I have here on the boards! This is the place (these contests) where I first met most of you, got you know everybody! Not to mention how its helped my grading skills over the years! I really, really appreciate it!!!

  17. Still a very nice copy Terry! Look at those pages, rich and glossy cover. I could order one right now that's in my price range but i'm waiting...there are other priorities right now
  18. Great story there! I hope to get a decent copy of 108 some day. I used to have a VG/FN- copy in my first collection. I have a faded one now, which is not acceptable as I fondly remember that rich purple background and I am disappointed with my current "place holder"!
  19. Come on there Kid Flash Fans! Dig out those 135's and lets discuss!
  20. I was going to say it was 3.5 or higher (maybe)? but brittle pages, kills the grade. I believe they see it this way, with one tiny little bit of mishandling turning the pages, the page crumbles and then you have an incomplete book.
  21. I was eliminated in the first round by shiverbones. Eeesh!!! Scoring a lovely 50 points! once I got that unpleasant business out of the way I was free to enjoy the rest of the contest without having to worry about all those pesky little things like knowledge and accuracy.
  22. I thought I made it to the round of 96 but I guess i did not make it even that far this year lol!?? wow
