  1. Definitely a phenomenal artist who has put out years of excellent work. IMO, I do find some of his work to be a bit too static and emotionless sometimes.
  2. My advice, if in actual "financial pain", stop buying comic books. There are some exceptions where you can benefit financially but purchasing a Spider-man Venom Double Trouble 2 Momoko cover now at the current price doesn't seem to financially feasible if in actual trouble with money. Good luck to you.
  3. There are a bunch of silver age books that are highly regarded AND also had high print runs. Pretty easy to find almost any silver age book in any condition if you look for them. Golden age is another story and dependent on the book. I have plenty of "interest in the hobby" but haven't had a pull list in 25 years. You don't need a pull list to have an interest in collecting. I'd rather save my coin for other books rather then paying $4-6 for books every week (10 books=$40-60 a week=$160-240 a month) that don't hold much interest for me and only a small percent will actually retain their value....in the same way as most copper/bronze/silver age.
  4. Are all $1K Silver and Bronze key safe bets? I don't think so and its hard to consider what would be "stable". Wouldn't that be more opinion based? I think we've seen fraud and manipulation in other ways. I mean look at AF15 which wasn't quite rare with many collectors sitting on many copies and then the market seeing more copies hit as soon as there was a higher price growth. Wasn't that a level of price manipulation? While I personally wouldn't put a thousand bucks towards any modern key, I would think in certain situations and books that 1K can get you safer bets in modern books then 1 single silver/bronze age book. That's again my opinion and neither of us really knows. All in fun speculating on price growths.
  5. I'm not sure that statement could be truthful in every way. Purchasing a $1000 modern book and selling it for a significant higher amount when it peaks? I'd say that worked out and wasn't stupid. There will be wins and losses in this hobby when you speculate or buy comics at a certain price point. Buying what you love eliminates that problem. Modern books that will be keys regardless will be extremely hard to find for cover price. Please go find a Walking Dead 1, UF4, EOS2, Invincible 1, Chew 1 at cover price right now. There are collectors that exclusively collect modern books and only chase after comics of that era. There will always be a market for modern books. There doesn't always need to be a comparison of Modern to any other age. Gets a little tiresome hearing everytime a modern book spikes in price, "i'd rather have 'insert any other age' book". It is possible to buy and appreciate books across all eras.
  6. You read this thread or the original sales thread? That is what I was referring to. Not sure what "hyperbole" I was using and I did stick to the facts of what we know and what I personally know of him stealing my money. I don't know what happened to him so I can't say "what if something happened to him". The facts are that he took my money and others then disappeared. Not sure why I need to defend my position when I am the one who had money stolen from me. I was done here when NP started asking me questions as if the facts aren't present on him taking multiple peoples money and not delivering. I shouldn't need to present anything further when there are past conversations from 2 years ago over on his sales thread with multiple people saying they paid and never received any books. That to me is crazy that I need to defend myself in any way, shape or form. I am done here.
  7. Because 99% of the time it IS online fraud and thievery instead of something bad happening to someone.
  8. He died of Covid 2 years ago? Ok.... There's literally fraud and people stealing money all over the internet and yet here its "Lets assume something bad happened to him" instead of "lets just assume he intentionally stole peoples money". That's so strange to me. First time I've ever encountered that when 99% of the time, people leave and you never hear from them again because they are thieves.
  9. Why are people assuming that something bad happened to him or that he is dead because he no longer posts on a forum? People have done this for years on the internet without speculating of "is s/he dead"?
  10. I have his address and plan to send a letter tomorrow to see if that will somehow make its way to him. If no response i'll pay the money for a background check to track down his phone number which will be stated in the letter.
  11. There's plenty of other shows that had pop culture appeal and made shows but then fizzled. There's no reason to think this will be any different. Deadly Class, Umbrella Academy, Preacher....a few examples of shows that made the value pop and only the #1 for the most part held some type of value.
  12. I can't say I agree with what you are saying. I mean isn't taking peoples money and not shipping anything "gross misconduct"? I'm still out money 2 years later....maybe something did happen to him but none of us know and the fact remains that he took money from more then a few people and didn't ship anything. Whether he pops back up or not really shouldn't make a difference to what he did back in 2018 and the forum members reaction to defending him instead of focusing on the part of him not shipping items while stealing peoples money. It happens all the time in the world where a thief takes money and then disappears. Surprised me to see people in such defense of him instead of being concerned with people losing money. I think that bothered me (and still bothers me to some extent) more than anything today. I look back at his profile and see that his occupation was "lover" and he spent so much time in the water cooler being a clown so in the end, I guess i'm not really surprised to see him out of all people doing this.
  13. Haven't seen a lot of action lately here but just got a single book back yesterday and it's pretty bad.
  14. 1.5 and i'd send it in to get slabbed. Shouldn't be restored and should be a blue label 1.5 with notes of tape on inside cover.
  15. I bet at some point they will offer cross grading service once they get rolling like CGC did with comics graded by other companies.
  16. There's a lot to be unseen. Most of what you are saying are hypothetical's surrounding the show. I mean it was just released. Seems a little premature to be considering this a sure fire bet. Even if people talk about it now, doesn't mean they will talk about it in 6 months.
  17. It'll be a gem mint 10! Who knows with these pictures. You can see some spine ticks but really hard to tell inside the bag. Hopefully the bag crease can be pressed out. I see a misinformed consensus with newer collectors that polybagged=better condition but the bag can also hide actual defects on the book that can not be pressed out.
  18. Those good ole Hofstra sports cards shows. I used to go to those all the time as a pre-teen/teenager growing up in the early to mid 90's. I don't follow cards anymore as closely but I do check into the blowoutcard forums every once in a while. That would be your best bet for information.
  19. Have to say that I was a little bothered by people immediately rallying around him when some people were out money. I never got my money back or any books. He deserves to be in the HOS IMO but i'm not even sure enough people would care to vote in the poll.
  20. Of course this deserves HOS....wild to think at least 2 members voted no and IMO the voting should be public to have justification towards the yes/no votes.
  21. Interest by way of magnification happens in every hobby. Look at the explosion of basketball cards with all of the attention of Zion Williamson and almost everything Jordan/Bulls related after the mega popular ESPN documentary. The group herd mentality of us as human beings has people rushing out whenever the spotlight is on a particular topic. This is nothing new and never has been.
  22. This and reiterating in bold IMO the most important bits.
