  1. Look at sold listings through eBay, Heritage, Comiclink or use resources like GoCollect/GPA to gauge a ballpark figure. Sometimes you can get an idea when you look at similar type issues and what they have sold for recently. For more obscure items, reach out to collectors who are more in the know on value associated with more niche items. At the end of the day, values change and sometimes there will be outliers dependent on how badly collectors fighting over an auction want the book or its rarity.
  2. Bought a bundle of raw books from Dave and everything arrived quickly and safely. Would definitely buy from again. Thanks!
  3. A very nice presenting 2.0 with a bit of staining/marvel chipping and spine splitting.
  4. I'm not a big variant collector but I have used the mycomicshop website to see variants associated with an issue number. For example, A-Force 1: https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?q=A-Force+1&pubid=&PubRng=?AffID=874007P01
  5. IMO the reason is because of CGC having more of a foothold in the hobby at an earlier stage rather then consistency related to grading. I'm not a CBCS person myself but I've found their grading more times then not to be on par with CGC.
  6. I don't know how often I see non-rare books for sale stating "only xx amount on the census" as if it is because of its perceived rarity as opposed to not many people slabbing the book.
  7. Definitely not a 9.8, more like a 9.9 or Gem Mint 10!
  8. Yes it was directed to you AND a generalized notion of "research before buying". People join to comment about the condition of a book in relation to its assigned grade and then disappear from the boards after only commenting in their own thread. I'm sure a lot of sellers here have sold books to buyers who either A) didn't look at the pictures close enough or B) don't know enough about grading and then are unhappy when they receive the book which is no fault of the seller although the sellers have to then deal with those problems. Everyone needs to start somewhere but i'm not sure "a complete newb" should be buying a 500+ graded book without being more familiar on the grading process or what is acceptable. Do a lot more research on these boards and elsewhere before jumping into buying graded comics. That is my . Welcome to the boards.
  9. Now might be a good time to tell them that you and very few others are authorized to crack and press signature series graded books.
  10. Unfortunately I've seen CGC do this upon grading. I do not believe this is SCS (Shaken Comic Syndrome) and rather an encapsulation issue. A couple of things to ask/consider: 1. Was that shown in the picture when you bought the item? If so, you might want to check closer before buying. Do not buy and then be upset when it is exactly as shown in the picture 2. If that damage wasn't shown then contact the seller
  11. I'd like to see if the Marvel Comics #1000 D23 Expo variant ends up on this list in a couple of years.
  12. Exactly what I was thinking. Leaning more towards a 4.0.
  13. I agree with the bolded statement for sure but can't say we know for sure if "prices will not come down on rarer versions". As hard as we try, none of us have a comic price prediction magic ball.
  14. Please stop buying graded books before learning more about them.
  15. Use some bleach to get those signatures off and you'll get a nice bump!
  16. No you aren't the only one. Plenty of people thought it was OK while others loved it. Of course there were some that hated it and the somewhat illogical flow. I personally thought it was still great television and right up there with any other season in terms of production. Was it the best season and did it the ending really justify the build up throughout all of the seasons? Not really but I choose to instead focus on the individuality in the quality of the acting and each episode of the last season as opposed to the totality of the story from start to finish. It is still my all time favorite show. I'm hoping the prequel will actually release in 2022: https://www.techradar.com/news/games-of-thrones-prequel-house-of-the-dragon-release-date
  17. Did the comic look exactly like this when you purchased it? If so then that's on you as the buyer. If the pictures didn't show this and that is what you received then return it. The book has a miswrap, not a trim, as seen by the white margin on the left side which is why the barcode is cutoff. That shouldn't affect the grading of the 9.6 (although personally I think it should) and it is a 9.6 not a 9.8 so any other minor flaws is what made is a 9.6. Grading is subjective and some items are considered manufacturer defects which do not count against the grade. Sounds like you might need to: 1. do more research on grading and graded comics before buying another 2. do more due diligence like asking for clearer pictures or checking them closer before buying Welcome to the boards. They are a great source for researching PRIOR to purchasing.
  18. How do you even verify a Stan Lee signature when his signature when from bad to worse during his later years?
  19. Check out phantomrestoration on Instagram. He does great work and will let you know what he can do with this book regarding the tape and getting it cleaned up for you.
