  1. The description doesnt matter. What you are saying SHOULD be the way it is but unfortunately it isnt. The description can say no returns but Paypal/eBay will allow returns for almost any reason. Do you sell on eBay? I'd say most sellers here know this to be true.
  2. I'd be willing to bet that people forget about this show rather quickly and you won't see the back issues holding much value. There has been and will continue to be new shows from comics but not all will maintain their high pricing as people start to lose interest in the show and it is eventually no longer produced.
  3. How though? Even if you put no returns on your listing, eBay still accepts returns and tends to side with the buyer in what seems like almost every time. I've always been worried about selling a book and then the comic coming back returned. I have returns for cracked slabs and either send them to CGC for a reholder, sell it as is or deslab and sell it raw. The best advice I saw for you is to contact CGC and see if they can potentially take care of it for you with a press and regrade but even then, they won't be able to guarantee the same exact grade.
  4. IMO it's foolish for them to keep waiting and hold out hope that they can somehow do the show. My guess is that they are not telling people so that they can announce a virtual con and have some interest in that rather then a waning interest and no one caring if they cancel now and then announce a virtual con down the road. Probably rather keep that interest going until they can get a firm idea on a virtual style con and what it will consist of. I get the economic impact it'll have but NY has much more important things to worry about then a comic convention.
  5. I'd be tempted to start grading some of my "worthless" cards because i've always had a nostalgic attachment to them. Even though most are common as dirt, we could see a rise in the price of the common sets if they do start grading as i'm sure other collectors would start to get cards graded of their favorite heroes or to match their graded comics.
  6. I think there's a common misconception that a press even from the best presser is an automatic bump. I sent a modern book in for grading without pressing and I know it had minor issues that could be pressed out but didn't think it'd grade lower then a 9.2-9.4 and didn't need a 9.6/9.8. I wouldn't been happy with a 9.0 for that matter. It comes back an 8.0 with notes similar to yours. CGC has a tendency to be very vague with their grader notes. I sent the book for a press and it still came back an 8.0 with even less notes. The book looks better to me and I see a couple of the color breaking creases gone but I don't agree with the grade especially after a press. You can make an informed opinion on if a press will help or what a book will grade at but nothing is guaranteed.
  7. I like them and think the cases look pretty cool. I used to collect sports cards back in the day and keep my ear to the ground on how the market is doing. Don't ever see myself getting into sports cards again but I might be tempted to start grading some of my Marvel cards. Those have a special place in my heart and I have a few complete sets still that i'll thumb through from time to time. I wonder if this gets some traction that we'll see prices start to tick up for graded Marvel trading cards.
  8. Right on both counts and I like you're thinking bringing up "Man" which makes total sense when you are thinking of the overall concept of X-Men and the struggle of mutants vs humans. If anything "Man" would be the #1 villain as they also create the conflict with Magneto.
  9. I am basing this comment off reading your initial post and a few other comments but admittedly did not read every single post through all 15 pages. With that being said, I get what you are saying but I'm not sure there's anything to be done. I can even say that I had 1 post removed by questioning a for sale thread where someone said the book was much higher grade then it really was. I chimed in with saying that its a nice book but not XX condition the seller stated. I thought it was my place to say something but alas, it is up to the seller and interested parties to negotiate and my post was rightly removed. Sellers have the right to list their books how they please as in anywhere else whether its at a con or on another selling avenue like eBay, Instagram or Mercari. Let overpriced books sit there or let an interested buyer convince the seller to come down on the price. Most sales threads and sellers here are very fair and more then reasonable to work with and that's where i'll spend my focus on rather then caring about any threads that may seem overpriced. I don't care for every sales thread but that's my choice to interact, attempt to purchase or work with a seller. Some of the feeding frenzys on sales threads are wild to me and in a sense mimic what I see in other ways like overpriced books on Instagram auctions or Comiclink auctions ending way above FMV. My assumption for the future of this forum is that it will become more and more like other avenues of selling where there will be more of an overlap and similarities in pricing and structure then actual differences.
  10. What he said, just email/call CGC and have them take care of it. Shouldn't cost you a dime to get a correct label.
  11. I didn't say anything about the grading being much different and actually said "I've found their grading more times then not to be on par with CGC". I agree with your statement.
  12. Or you'll be stuck with books that aren't actually worth a dollar and actually worth 25 cents
  13. Personally for me, I can't stand actors signatures on any books unless that specific actor is on the cover. What happens if you get Chris Evans or any other actor to sign a comic and then there's another actor that embodies that character even more? There's typically multiple actors who play a character over the course of our generation. But as others have already said, collect and do what you want. At the end of the day, you are the one who looks at your collection and the one that has to determine when and what to sell.
  14. Stop driving up the prices way before the auction ends! Comiclink is smart about it since there is no watch list and you have to bid to place the item on a sort of watch list but I do think collectors play into it and shoot themselves in the foot by driving up the prices before they should.
  15. I think you mean, if it seems to good to be true, it has to be!
  16. I like them and I get the price point to a certain extent but for me I wouldn't spend that much for it. Even if I was to pony up the money, I prefer having the floor space in my collectibles room and id rather have my comics raw or slabbed on the walls if they are being displayed.
  17. Probably legit, I mean the price is right and anytime you see "absolutely the best possible", you should just know that its absolutely the best possible.
  18. Possibly @Jennifer F. but I wouldn't hold my breath. It seems that the common piece of advice is to include a sticky note on the book indicating the significance that should be on the label. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.
