  1. Are they automatically "highly desirable"? I see them more as a niche for certain collectors while a majority of collectors (myself included) don't care at all to pay a premium for a double cover.
  2. I agree. It's a fun watch but I didn't care for some of the story arcs that felt a bit disjointed. I didn't care for the ending of season 1 either. I'm hoping season 2 pulls it together a bit more cohesively.
  3. Might need to change the title thread and top comment considering it WAS NOT CGC at fault here.
  4. Funny how perspective differs from collector to collector. I've never owned Avengers #1 at any point in the past 30 years because I don't care too much for that team while I have Hulk 1 and 181 since they are two of my favorite Marvel characters and all time favorite covers of mine.
  5. I don't remember the first toy but I remember going to KB toy store in Oceanside, NY and TRU in Valley Stream frequently. Being a privileged kid and being able to buy toys there almost every week was awesome. There was another place that had some type of catalog that i'd order video games from. Woolworth maybe? I remember there being a front desk and i'd have to look through the catalog and then they'd check the back warehouse or put it on order.
  6. It is strange because mail overall was really bad once everything got shut down but seemed to improve over the last couple of months to almost normalcy. I noticed a delay starting about 2 weeks ago on par with when the shutdown first happened.
  7. Not a good look for CGC at all that 1) they allowed this to happen on numerous occasions, 2) Brittany responded on the thread saying they are aware and taking care of it and 3) a representative responds with no knowledge of the topic when this issue was brought up a year ago.
  8. Not a good sign that a representative responding is asking for examples. If that is the case, then is CGC as in everyone working for the customer responding to issues aware? I think not. Anyone have restored books they'd like to send in to see if CGC catches it?
  9. Exactly what I was going to say. You could also go with what books means more to you. Which would you rather have in your collection right now? That could help figure out which one you should move. I'd say that the 181 should move fast as that's similar to ASM300 in that it always sells regardless of how many copies are out there. IMO it's the better cover and has a 1st app (debated) where as Avengers 1 has the 1st app of the team but not any individual 1st apps. I can see 181 having an uptick with any Hulk/Wolverine MCU news while Avengers may have already had their day meaning the price should stabilize from here on out. It's always a guessing game so who knows in the end which one is a better "investment". Collect what you love and you rarely ever lose.
  10. Have you called CGC to take this issue up with them?
  11. I like to guess the grade in my own head then read the comments. 4.0 is what I had guessed as well. I have a 3.0 copy and this one looks about a grade point higher IMO.
  12. That's Stan Lee's hair with his ACTUAL DNA! You'd be crazy to want to reslab that!
  13. Not a bad looking 3.0 copy. That staining and staple removed really hurt the grade. A bit of rust on that top staple too. Presents well for the grade.
  14. Sounds like the boxes aren't actually full so they are sliding and bowing from the weight/pressure of the other books. Are the boxes actually full? I'd recommend putting pieces of cardboard in the front and back of the box to stabilize it a little more. Cut pieces out of a USPS box to size.
  15. I don't think its been worth it for a while. There were never any real guarantees on a quicker turn around time with fast track anyway.
  16. With your screen name of Pacific Investor, i'm sure you know what you are doing. In other words buy
  17. 3.0 because of the wear and that staining will take a nice hit. Maybe a 3.5 after a clean/press. Nice colors for a low grade copy.
  18. I like the idea but not sure its feasible considering the volume they are doing now. It'd be nice if they have some type of grading appeal process where you send the book back in and are guaranteed to have different graders other then the ones who looked at it determine the grade. That would be way too time consuming and don't see that happening though. I've got a Marvel Spotlight 5 (1st app Ghost Rider) that looks like an 8.0 but has a small stain on the back cover that goes through a few pages. It's a CGC 5.5 White Pager now that i'll take all day long as it presents beautifully. You might want to learn about grading a bit more before you keep sending books in to CGC or you'll be constantly frustrated with the grades you receive.
