  1. 2nd the Coffee & Kareem notion but I found The Wrong Missy to be even worse. The Eurovision movie for me was right there as well. Hasn't been the best year for movies.
  2. The issues being brought up here probably will have little impact on the final hammer price. The cover being so iconic AND being featured on a site like TMZ will bring plenty of eyes and money. Chamber of Chills 19 original art cover sold for $174K and that would be even more niche than this. I wouldn't be surprised if the ASM129 piece easily breaks a million or goes above the 2 million ask.
  3. Some of the effects look cool but I'm thinking it'll just be another modern monster movie where the focus is too much on the military and the humans rather than the actual monsters.
  4. Why not just edit your first post instead of adding 2 more comments? Adds to that 7K+ post count?
  5. Send it in for pressing and expect a 9.8. Come back to post when you are disappointed and its still a 8.5.
  6. I'd highly suggest to not do that as I don't know how many times I've had people cancel bids and winning bids because they didn't take enough thought into if they actually wanted the item or didn't have the funds ready.
  7. I guess the market is such to dictate these rising prices but it does seem rather silly for a new indie book (regardless of who worked on it) to rise in price so fast because of its rarity when there is absolutely no significance so far at this point. I asked this same question on IG for the folks who were able to get a copy and most had no idea what the book was but just knew it was hot and expensive therefore making other people want the next hot and expensive book without knowing what exactly it is that they have or they are buying. The typical herd mentality of chase after what everyone else is chasing after without knowing the "why".
  8. No don't think so. Looks like Lightning got it correct and you can tell from the way the cover is tilted towards the top left thus dragging the right side making it look uneven. Besides, what would be the reason to trim a Spiderman 143 from that era?
  9. That's pretty wild that there is no way to check a customers credit this far into this business model.
  10. Thats a terrible miscut job. As others have already said, i'd stay far away from that book. I'd recommend to keep learning and doing your research BEFORE bidding on expensive books.
  11. If its not about value then open the bag and put the comic in a nice mylar bag with a board. Could get a top holder as well if you wanted to.
  12. Tom Lyle is the greatest comic book artist of all time. Send them in to CGC AND CBCS!
  13. There IS a big difference between what is being asked AND what is being sold. I do think there are some wild price disparities in graded vs raw at times but calculate in the condition as a raw book vs the condition as a graded book. Also factor in costs related to grading+shipping and pressing if going that route. The $100 book on eBay is probably in pristine condition while the $5 book at your LCS is probably a lower grade copy that would sell for $25-50 graded (factor in the grading/shipping cost and you aren't making much profit).
  14. There's a huge market for books from the last 10 years and yes, even books like America #1 (America Chavez 1st solo series). There's not much difference in value from a box from 30 years ago to a box from 10 years ago when you consider the best books pulled. One could even argue that your chances are better for more value on a modern box of books when you look at the price of 2nd, 3rd prints currently.
  15. I'm really surprised "those guys" haven't shown up yet when this casting was announced. That digital image looks amazing. I'd be shocked if it looks half as good as that.
  16. I'm re-reading Secret Wars 1984 (on issue 8 now) and I'm not overly in love with it as much as I remember reading it as a kid. I've read that Secret Wars 2015 is actually better. Is the writing/artistry better in any way and is the story to some people better?
  17. I can see why people send in low grades. #1 reason is they probably don't know any better. It may look like a mid grade book but they don't realize that a staple is popped, the cover is detached or something along those lines. A lot of people who send in books have no idea how to grade. #2 sentimental value...I sent in a Wolverine 1 knowing that it would grade out at low to mid grade because it was a book from my childhood and I didn't care about the grade. I more wanted it slabbed and on my wall for memories of reading it and nostalgia related to my brother and I reading and collecting comics in the 80's. No pressing/cleaning or anything. Slabbed as is and that's how I wanted it. Not anymore I'm not a big fan of these CGC custom labels but this one is perfect for it. Posted by ComicTom101 on Instagram.
  18. Always cool to see new Marvel additions. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the character and I'm not really that interested in a show about Nick Fury. Samuel Jackson never really won me over. I do hope they breath a little more life into the character and really make it interesting.
  19. What is your goal? Do you want it for your personal collection or to resell? I think that will answer your "is it worth it". To resell, it most likely won't sell for the FMV on the same grade as a copy that isn't as faded regardless of the technical grade. For your personal collection, how much does the fade bother you? For me personally, i'd rather have a 2.0 with nice colors rather than a 4.0 faded like that. Honestsly, i'd rather have a 0.5-1.0 with a detached cover than an attached 5.0 with faded colors. That's my personal preference and aesthetically, I really dislike the look of faded books.
  20. I think your tin foil hat may have come loose and you let in way too many of those 5G signals.
  21. It's either a Stan Lee verified hair strand or a common folks hair strand full of Covid. Either send it to get pressed or light it on fire. Those are the only 2 options at this point.
  22. Haven't gotten around to watching that one but I'll put it on the watchlist. I do like her a lot as an actress but she didn't do anything for me in the Old Guard.
  23. You should probably spend a lot of money on it, send it into CGC for grading and then come here to drop a thread on Friday about how CGC swapped your book or something along those lines.
  24. The example you are showing is an older label before CGC was doing the combo green/yellow verified label. His book will get the green/yellow label as long as CGC doesn't make a mistake.
