  1. With the pictures shown here i'd go a 5.5 as is but it is hard to see the exact condition and if there's possible restoration with that type of picture. Looks like a nice copy. Good luck on the purchase.
  2. I have a few of the 90's Marvel trading card sets and love flipping through them occasionally. The 90 Set is my favorite and always gives me a blast of nostalgia when flipping through it. I might be tempted to send some random cards in for grading if CGC does eventually open up their grading for Marvel cards. Even though they are very common and easy to find, I could see this opening the door for a minor increased value in the cards and a much larger increase in higher grades.
  3. This should be a header on this forum AND when someone submits a book for grading.
  4. What is the indication that it is from a comic creator?
  5. That is fine. The sentence before started with "as for me" and I meant that for the second statement as well.
  6. This reminds me of a couple of experiences I've had as well that I could've added to my earlier post. My wife and I along with our 10 year old daughter went to see Into the Spiderverse and throughout the first 30 minutes or so there were teenagers being loud throughout and one of them kept asking "whos that, whats going on". It finally got to a point (of course an emotional point in the movie) when they were talking and I'm a mild mannered person but I saw my wife look over at them and shes even more mild mannered than me which annoyed the hell out of me even more so I yelled at them "ENOUGH ALREADY". Luckily, they shut up the rest of the film. Our 10 year old was quiet throughout and loved it while teenagers didn't know how to behave. It's definitely not an age or generational thing either as my wife's cousin who's about the same age as me always says she wants to watch a movie and then spends 95% on her phone and always accidentally clicks a video that blasts sound during the movie. I've told my wife I am never watching a good movie with her around. Only movies we've already seen or those movies we know we'd never watch on our own because they are terrible. So add rude and inconsiderate people to the list of why not to go to the movies.
  7. Sign up for CGC's newsletter and watch for signings. I'd also recommend following them on their social media sites in case they do any signings at any shops that may be local to your area.
  8. Wouldn't it have been better to leave it as is and actually be more valuable without the "logo and header dressing are modern day replacements"? Or is there validity for aesthetic reasons or to have a link to the actual comic?
  9. Photoshops are typically done for pre-ordered books with guaranteed CGC grades. With that being said at this price AND being from that particular region, I expect that this is more than likely a scam account (there are plenty of them on eBay) that are looking to take peoples money for a preorder. I've heard rumors of bootleg CGC cases but haven't actually ever seen one.
  10. My comment was not at all directed to you. I don't find any issue at all with viewers criticizing story lines because of the plots being lackluster or being retold in a similar fashion. Similar tropes can be annoying and I get what you are saying. I am speaking to other viewpoints criticizing the show mostly for its inclusion of elements they don't care to see because they find racism/sexism/homophobia as being too "preachy or in your face".
  11. I think in general it will be safe to be in a movie theater that takes proper precautions in creating some type of cleaner environment AND enforcing social distancing but here's my take: I won't be going to the movie theater any time soon. For my wife, daughter and I to go we are spending around $50 every time. I don't know many movies that are worth for me to spend $50 on and that price is just too high. Enjoying the past few months watching movies at home on my 65" 4K TV with a surround sound system in my great room already gives me an excellent movie watching experience in the comfort of my own home to pause whenever and eat our own food without overspending on concessions. Your mileage will vary but spending money on your own home setup compared to spending money on movie tickets is really the smartest bang for your buck. I do like the movie theater experience but thinking back on how much money we've spent on subpar movies doesn't make it a favorable choice to go to the movies and the Coronavirus is far down the list on why I won't be going any time soon. Movies are already releasing within a few months (sometimes sooner) and I can find other movies, TV shows or in general things to do than to rush to watch a brand new movie. The pandemic only reinforced what I already knew and made it normal to not go to the movies.
  12. Finished up season 2 of Umbrella Academy this weekend and found myself enjoying it more than season 1. 7.5/10 It was overall entertaining, had solid acting and some excellent music throughout. My biggest complaint is the tease of the awesome fight scene with them collectively using their powers in the first episode and then getting none of that the rest of the season. IMO that opening fight sequence was the best part of the entire show to date. I enjoyed the story arcs told in season 2 and each character had a little more space to breath as I felt season 1 was a little rushed in the way it told its story. It honestly saddens me to see people commenting over and over again about being upset over the introduction of racism and/or homophobia on the show. It's as if people don't realize that: The story is told during the 60's which was about as explosive as it gets for race relations in our country The main characters are A) a black woman in the 60's; how do you think she would react jumping back in time and seeing things go backwards in terms of equality? A gay man - again in a time when homophobia was even more outright Vanya who is played by a woman who is a lesbian. These are all moments of representation for both a history and the identity of the characters being played. While the story is about superheroes and time travel, they are still humans living in a world of other humans that carry traits of both good and bad human beings. Anyone not realizing this might need to reflect on why they are so bothered by seeing this and feeling as if its "shoved in their face" or "lectured".
  13. Being dropped off at the post office does not mean that A) it was scanned already and B) that it isn't in transit and someone at the post office missed the scan. Both situations happen often but I understand your concern with that amount of value in the books. USPS service right now is very backlogged.
  14. Not necessarily since it bleeds through the cover and could leave behind markings. It really depends on how bad it is. As far as what label it would get, it really depends. I've seen books like this get color touch notations while others get blue labeled.
  15. Seems like Xmen 14's are selling well after the preorder going up of the Hasbro Haslab Sentinel putting those bots back in the spotlight.
  16. Words tend to have multiple uses. Cult also means excessively admiring an object like people being in love with their smart phones.
  17. A bit extreme to tell him about the 9.8 graded TMNT Gocollect price, no? Do you always tell people their books may be worth 9.8 graded prices? He has 1 post and somehow found his way on a comic forum and registered a new account when he could have asked anywhere else or did any type of google search to help him find info. You must understand where the jokes come from....
  18. So you are saying that Heritage photoshopped the image and put another comic in? That sounds like a conspiracy theory: https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/wolverine-4-marvel-1982-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/122033-15526.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 I'm surprised people are shocked by this. There's been a lot of examples over the years of CGC over or undergrading books. I can't say why it happens on such a severe case at times but it does happen.
  19. Try pressing it with a waffle maker and that'll get out color breaking creases.
  20. It can but not in every situation. As oldbsturgeon alluded to, it depends once you factor in the cost of grading. Throw in paying for pressing and shipping as well. I see so many people grading books and talking so much about the value when it was a $20 raw book and its now a $50 graded book but factor in the grading cost+shipping (and if they choose to press) and they would actually lose money if they sold it for $50. The key is to learn what you have by learning what comics are worth by checking eBay, Gocollect, GPA and then learn about grading by using this forum and other resources to help you gain information. Only then can you really know if grading is worth it and will raise value.
  21. I've done it for years with no impact on the comics at all. The key is to actually make sure the comics aren't seeing direct spotlight. I have regular shade curtains and then blackout curtains on top of that. The room is also light controlled in that its only on when someone is in the room which is not often. Some great displays in this thread and one of the best professional displays i've seen by @shortboxed.
  22. I saw and didn't think it was a garage sale, flea market, antique mall or estate sale find...gotcha
  23. Sold for $228 which is slightly under FMV. This is minor to other higher grades floating out there for other more valuable books.
