  1. I like sub grading in breaking down each portion of the grade and coming to the final grade. It helps explain the grade a bit better rather than "9.0 creasing to cover". Would have like to see comic grading start like this but it would indeed be a nightmare to add it at this stage of the game. Funny to see the OP say that the price is deceptive. It's the same for comic grading when you just look at fees per grading scale and don't factor in shipping which can get pricey.
  2. There's already tons of information on this site and elsewhere about this and i'd recommend searching next time. Even if adding a McFarlane signature witnessed by CGC, the label will be green AND yellow. CGC will only give out yellow labels when every signature on the book is witnessed. If one is not witnessed but another is then the label will be both green and yellow. The other company you mention does verified signatures. None of us can tell you what to do with your books. Figure out what you like more and think about if you'd rather them be raw or graded. Nothing wrong with throwing a signed book in a top loader with a mylar bag and board.
  3. Why don't you just wait to type out one post instead of making 3 posts? You can also edit a post if you forget to add something. Yes, any label can be put on any book. I've seen a Xmen1 with an Avengers logo and vice versa. Completely dumb but so are humans.
  4. I'm sure you'll see opposite opinions on trade dress vs. virgin covers and many of them split in a generational manner. I'm not a big collector of modern books especially those solely based on covers so my opinion will be less stronger than others. For me personally, I like the virgin cover when it has beautiful artwork that's only hindered by the title or other wording that takes away from the artwork. I'd rather have the second virgin cover with the original red outfits. It doesn't really matter to me which one is more rare although I know usually the virgin covers have limited print runs. I would say that if I am buying a modern book as a straight cover buy because of the cover artwork than I'm going for the virgin cover almost all of the time.
  5. A few more points I wanted to make: Dylan and I had a fairly long conversation on Instagram about this subject. I kept telling him over and over again that he is severely lacking emotional maturity in decision making/communicating and that he needed to accept responsibility for his actions in this. Only at that point can he point the finger at CGC for their mistake and work in parallel with them to fix this but that his continued words were only digging him deeper and making him look worse. I thought I was getting somewhere when he finally started replying with acting as if he understood my point of view and how he could have handled it better. I reiterated that he should have more maturity if selling high end books and trying to establish good relationships. Then he told me that he can't be mature because he is 20 years old and then he asked why I was surprised that he would be threatening a lawsuit. At that point I told him that I thought we were getting to some mutual understanding and maybe he shouldn't have brought back up trying to sue me. I then ended the conversation by blocking him. He then went to my personal Instagram page and messaged me there asking why he got blocked to which I blocked him there too. Clearly, he seems somewhat unstable. There must be other Overstreet advisors on this forum. What is the process to reevaluate someones standing as an advisor? I can say in a general sense meeting him once in person and talking with him a few times online that he is knowledgeable about the comic industry and a smart kid but he is just that; a kid who has a lot to learn about doing the right thing. This subject has been touched on a few times but I haven't seen a clear explanation on how you actually become an advisor and if there are steps to have a position reevaluated by some type of board or management. As far as CGC, saying that they are taking care of it is not a good enough of a response. They should answer the question about how many of these books are floating out there but I don't think they will. This situation makes them look worse for not catching it sooner especially when this was brought up last year. Someone brought up a point about the character labels being removed. I kind of agree with that and always thought they were a waste although I doubt that will happen because of their popularity. Why do you need another logo in the upper right hand corner thats just distracting to the eye when there's artwork right there in front of that's usually the reason for slabbing the book in the first place? It is a money grab and the shiny new thing that collectors want because of that. Does it add eye appeal, value or do anything for the comic? IMO, it doesn't and is a waste of 5 bucks and the root cause of this issue to begin with.
  6. That's the great thing about collecting, we all have our own preferences. I'd rather have a lower grade, say 5.0, with a few more spine ticks than have that writing on the cover which takes away from the overall appeal of the artwork on the cover which makes that book so appealing to begin with.
  7. I tagged him and Brittany from CGC on page 1 so she can verify that they have the books and to see if they corrected the issue.
  8. There are actually Wizard First 9.5's floating around out there but generally speaking, you are correct.
  9. The black smudge should be a manufacturer defect and not considered against the grade. The other more obvious problems is the wear on the front and back covers. 4.5 as is
  10. Eventually terminology will evolve like everything else in life. I don't see the terms "bondage" and "headlights" being carried on by the next generation of collectors.
  11. Did you read this thread? He says that it was relisted automatically by eBay (which I don't buy) and that the books are with CGC being reholdered.
  12. Good guess I posted on my Instagram story feed about him and he sent me a messaging saying that what i'm doing is "against the law". Then he made a post tagging me and CGC talking about it being completely their fault and that they've had the books for a month. I said it on the first page of last thread about this....he has emotional maturity issues in dealing with issues like this. He could have easily: 1. Accepted his fault in this by admitting to listing them as is AND not putting anything in the subject line about restoration 2. Apologized and moved on 3. Stopped digging the hole deeper by talking about disassembling books, removing resto and what not. Pretty simple when one realizes how to handle situations like this instead of making it worse. Unfortunately, it seems like this thought pattern/process will continue. Probably a result of a privileged upbringing where your dad allows you to make a career out of selling comic books.
  13. Don't worry, i'm sure your 1st cameo appearance of Punchline will be fine.
  14. Have you seen some collectors? I don't think they can bend over and they do all of their comic sorting on tables
  15. Your post is missing some information (shipping, refund policy, etc.) and will be pulled if not updated.
  16. Might be a good idea to tag @dylanthekid and @Brittany M. on this one This was supposed to have been taken care of but i'm not surprised that it isn't.
  17. There really shouldn't be a rush to put it on the label because story lines change and so do characters. What happens if the cameo or 1st app is actually a character impersonating them ala Domino or M (Monet St. Croix)?
  18. They are not "checking the signature". They are assigned a grade accounting for writing on it. Qualified means that the signature isn't considering a defect and isn't taking away from the technical grade.
  19. I think that'll be the part that'll drive most people to buying them and getting them graded. I could see people trying to get matching grades too which drive up the price all around. Who knows though. The only reason why I wouldn't consider sending in a bunch would be it being cost prohibitive to send in cards that are worth a quarter (what a majority are worth) for grading at 10 bucks a pop.
  20. Some people just love to hate what they don't like or understand. Sadly it's become human nature of ignorance and frankly, It's quite silly. It's like the turtles ninja kicked him in the gonads or something and he has a personal mission to tear down their popularity. Pretty easy to see how the Turtles are still popular today if you open your eyes and listen (actively listen) to what others say about them.
