I will gladly take a book that's low grade but with great color and no pieces missing over the same book with duller color but a higher grade because of its better "structure" any day. I have many books where my higher grade "investment" copies, are not my "keepers", because my lower grade books are so much more beautiful. It's not a checklist for me, its purely visual. Plus I appreciate a nice veneer of loving wear (I skip the tear part though).

I love the idea of a golden age only forum. And while we're at it, I also propose a "Marvel Key" forum. It's sucks opening my notifications, hoping for new GA listings, and instead finding yet 10 more listings for the same old Marvel "keys"- Xmen #theres24000oftheseontheregestry, FF #firstappearanceofsomeoneIdontcareabout, Spidey #itsthatsamestupidissueagain, Hulk #doesnteveryonehavethisonealready? Daredevil #yougetmypoint... if I want one of those books, and I pray I'm never infected with that desire- I'll simply choose from the hundreds available just about anywhere books are sold- however I promise if they are confined to their own CGC sales forum, I'll look here first.

Well done. Wish I had a prize. Maybe next time I have a sales thread I'll include something like this with a book as a prize. Guesses would be PM'd to me, instead of posted for all to see, and the first with all correct would win the prize.

After I re-filed my PCH (and what I consider "close enough" to PCH) collection last night, I was pleasantly surprised to see the images from the front books peaking through the handle holes. Can you identify these books from these cropped cover images? They are all unarguably PCH, except two... Good luck!

I agree- not just PQ- but like lots of really gross foxing and staining- gotta check that back cover. I let a few cool ones go because of that.

I am sooo BUMMMMED! I lost out on a beautiful grail tonight during the heritage black cat show- I put in a hefty bid ahead of time because I knew I would be working... but I managed to log on when the book came up. I logged in to bid live, but when I was outbid, it wouldn't let me bid!! I was screaming and pounding and all kinds of cuss. That 4 second count down played like a slow motion disaster. What happened? I wonder if maybe when I put in my original bid I accidentally checked "disable live bidding"? I've never selected that before, does anyone know if that could be the reason? Been saving and waiting forever for a nice copy. I know there will be another eventually- but that one was supposed to be mine!!! As a gesture of gratitude for all those who sat through my rant- enjoy this PCH inspired painting by the one and only Gary Panter. He did a series of them, you can see some on his insta.

They really do look like silkscreened black light posters from the 60s/70s (yes I have the book).

Here's mine, its a "only" 4.5 but a top collection favorite. The cover inks resemble a silkscreen, they are so incredibly thick and rich. Compare these colors to that VF+. I don't care about the grade- I wouldn't buy that book as anything but a placeholder.

Ha ha this was literally my story! Also the Adv into Fesr 19, first appearance of Howard, grabbed a few of those from a few shops. Sold them back to the shops. Probably spent some on cheap weed too- we called it “dirt weed”.
