  1. I don't like pressing either, it's like embalming the book before entombing it in plastic.
  2. Dude. What an impressively obsessive post! And what a spectacular array of books. A pleasure to peruse. From this time forward, for me, all Promise books will belong to one of two categories. Well done. I like your book too- I agree with the name placement. The Hit wins for me primarily because of the mummy. Ha ha. The JoJo is probably my third favorite. Again well done!
  3. Colorful Bubbles? Ha ha, must be something else happening on that cover that made me never notice those before...
  4. WOW. Just browsed the auction- the selection of Timely marvels & capt americas etc, and the planets totally blew me away. Many I've never seen in auction before. Unbelievable "heroes fighting and being tortured by monster villains" covers (yes, that's a sub-genre in my database). Wondering if a mega buyer is going to sweep through those like what happened during the promise auctions. I would for sure.
  5. Well when you're done with that one, here's two more to figure out...
  6. So its was you I was bidding against! I should have known... congrats. I'll get one yet!! That was an odd auction, lots of cool but super rough books.
  7. All these were $80 or less (incl tax and shipping ) There's a few others in my sig.
  8. I would sincerely like to hear from anyone who has had a profitable experience with them.
  9. This week's mail call. Check out the envelope the Weird Mysteries came in. No board, nothing stiff, just a comic in plastic comic bag inside a ziplock! Craziest thing is every month I get the exact same size and type of envelope from my sister, stuffed with receipts, bills and other misc papers. I usually fold it in half and stuff it into my end of month to do box. Luckily I was bored on a work zoom and opened this without really thinking about it. Surprise!
  10. Man what a dream find! Congrats. I've never been able to tell for sure, but is that exploding face a robot/cyborg or no? Can you delicately read through the book and report back? ha ha. but I'm serious...
  11. What a unique book- colors are beautiful, like a work of art, edition of 1.
  12. Yeah that’s an issue for me too- keeps me from buying everything I see. Ha ha. Self imposed limitations Its kind of a catch 22 because cream paged books often have very rich saturated colors. I think there's something in the oxidization process that intensifies the pigments. Kinda like firing a piece or ceramic that you glazed... maybe we should bake all our books a bit...
  13. Possibly... depends. ha ha. Lets just say I'm not going to pay market price for a higher grade book if I don't like the colors. I just love comics as beautiful objects, and ultimately grade isn't really the issue. I'm a golden age guy though, so sometimes you risk never seeing a book again if you're too picky...
