  1. my latest lovely... just got it in the mail after Philly, something great to come home to!
  2. Kind of cool tidbit... I was out to eat with the CGC crew and one of the encapsulators is from Serbia. She was telling me how cool it was to see the Serbian Surrounded By The Dead books (that was awesome to hear from her). She had to translate for Shawn some of the various pin-up artists and other parts from the book. Like I said, for her it was a cool thing and was so nice to hear her gush about it over dinner!
  3. I wish continued success to the book, Jeremy and people like Brian that support this one with some crazy obsession to complete each and every item Jeremy has crafted. Very cool to see that. I know personally, the title has been soiled based on all the extra stuff. Seems like a fight (and I never back away from one) over everything with this book. And for the most part I don't think I see eye to eye with even the most die hard of collectors on this. I wish everyone the best of luck with this book and continued enjoyment reading! Time to go buy some more Walking Dead art muwahahahahahah See you all in another modern thread for the next hot book (lets hope we all get on board for that one right away and enjoy the conversations, much like the Walking Dead thread!) JJ Seacrest...out...
  4. So you know I wrote in blue to hurt your eyes, right? Anyway, as I stated before, the only thing that matters IMHO, is the story and it's exciting for me to see where it will go...story-wise. Julio, I applaud you for selling books to board members at reduced rates. Many books can be had for less than cover ahead of time(DCBS or the new distribution company that is taking over small press for Diamond), and by offering this you are good in my book. But lets all be honest at least and say that when we sell a book for more than cover we are looking for a return on our investment. Whatever the motivation is for selling, bottom line, if you sell for more than cover at any time and pocket the profit, you have in fact put yourself on the side of capitalist. No other way around it. Selling a CPG for $XXX or selling a CPG for $X, either way, there is money being made on one and breaking even on the other. I call that a smart seller. A person can make money and also be a good person. This is evident on these boards daily.
  5. Oh please. Don't even wrap your mind around that one as the motivation. I rarely buy Moderns because it is not my focus. But I am very impressed with the crop of books that have come out of this interesting period (Walking Dead, Goon, Stuff of Legend, Locke & Key, etc.). But if it makes you feel better, have at it. happens all the time, why should this be any different, and as I stated, I can't tell who is who anymore with detractors and motivators for this title
  6. and this we shall agree on until the end of time!
  7. So I am just trying to make sure I understand this from the detractors (which I am not sure who is who anymore ): If you sell this book you are taking advantage of buyers. If you push this book or sell this book you are hyping it. If you dont buy this book, it is because of dealer prices. There are multiple printings of the first issue. Oh, I wasn't talking about CPG, I was talking Walking Dead in the above. Because every book that becomes hot, has to start hot and keep pushing forward. Some books take off right away, some blow up quickly. I don't think anyone that has gotten interested in the series has shyed away from it and many have become bigger fans and looked for all types of issues. I think one thing to be very careful of is to act as if sellers of the book (which I am) are taking advantage of everyone. There appear to be many sellers of this book. Just as there are many sellers of Chew, Walking Dead and other series that people enjoy. Julio, I love ya, but please for one second do not believe that Jeremy or anyone else involved with CPG is not happy to see books selling and people trying to get everything they can CPG. It takes nothing away from the work he is doing. He has collectors of his work that read it and throw it in a box, he has collectors that want to invest, and he has people buying books and reselling them, but the bottom line is he is getting the price he is asking for when he sells. He might not understand the process, but from someone who has been at this longer then most (me) it will be benefit him long term. He is an amazing talent and word is spreading! You have sold or attempted to sell CPG books also, does it make you less of a CPG fan? Absolutely not. Chainnball has done the same thing, he talks about CPG all the time and pays high dollar for many books on ebay. Good for him and good for Jeremy. To have loyal readers and loyal followers of your work is something that will pay dividends in the future, just as it has for Kirkman. I think a lot of people need to step back and realize that each and every book that is 'hot' is 'hot' for a lot of different reasons and that everyone has a reason why they want to buy something or not buy something. I would hate to think what would happen if someone went into the Walking Dead thread and created a ruckus like this about a book. They would be shunned and casted away (and Walking Dead is one of my favorite books and one I support heavily and also one that is heavily supported on these boards, thus my reasoning for using it) Sometimes it just reeks of not getting in on the next hot thing soon enough and seems resentful, I hope that isnt the case. Regardless, each and everyone in this thread has a deep love for modern comics and should understand that to each their own. Off to baseball practice...
  8. Divad, I got my books from Bellrules1 also, shipping is from Canada also! Very well packaged also!
  9. Just heads up for the fellow WD peeps... Kirkman SS opportunity now available! http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=4085877#Post4085877 Not worried about drumming up business, but much easier to contact all of you through this board and I dont want anyone to miss out. Hope that helps some people out! JJ

  11. http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/06/09/previews-unveils-sdcc-2010-exclusives/ lists all the exclusives up to date, including True Blood...
  12. cant wait to buy those up SDCC cant come soon enough...
  13. I have a hardcover edition signed by Ennis and Burrows if interested, PM me...
  14. Loved Let the Right One In! Jerel, it is just a soap opera Vampire show. Sookie doesn't do much for me, neither does Bill (the 2 main stars), but LaFayette, Eric and others are just great and really make the show. I think you will enjoy, just give it a few episodes. That and the theme song is the best since Sopranos , love that song! JJ
  15. I like True Blood. Take it for what it is, not the worst show on TV and pretty enjoyable characters IMO (the side players on the show are the best IMO) JJ
  16. That was cool of you! I am enjoying looking at the framed edition also!
  17. What I wouldnt give for one of those prints... Michonne...dreamy...
  18. I think the 2nd photo is my favorite. That is incredible! Here is a cool Romero interview on the site also, where George talks about Walking Dead http://blogs.amctv.com/movie-blog/2010/06/george-a-romero-interview.php

  20. Just got an email from him and he will be in attendance!
  21. Instigating again?? nope! It is what it is!
  22. my package arrived and the most interesting thing was the packing material was the actual remnants from the book (the cut off paper when the book was trimmed)
  23. It's the dirty little CPG secret...
