  1. Love your Quick Draw avatar. I think Borock is correct in that Cgc slabs should be changed out every 8 years. Have seen 1950s comics with fragile spines and creamy paper have the spine almost disintegrate while in the slab. One would only notice if one cracked the comic out (to choke * read) though. But couldn't that have been poor storage conditions? The CGC case doesn't protect comics from heat and humidity, for example.
  2. Is this the place to be today? I can't decide between this thread and all the going on in the trading card forum.
  3. I think he means screen time during the recent surge. Let's face it, a lot of characters haven't gotten any screen time for quite a while though. Logan was in a pretty good movie in 2017 though. Then maybe he should say it that way instead of a blatantly false statement like....
  4. Apparently it's called a dog ear, or at least it's called that by some. I never heard a proper name for this defect before. The paper gets folded over before the cutting process.
  5. That's not siamese pages. The thread below has a picture of what siamese pages looks like. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/150393-siamese-pages/?tab=comments#comment-8984114
  6. Data was inspired by the design of lore Who was physically inspired by its own creator dr sooung(or a name like that dont remember how it was spelled) Please purchase a sense of humor
  7. Uh no. Actually, the Michelin Man might have inspired Robby the Robot.
  8. Yup. Just as much as the Space Marines were clearly a knock-off of the Howling Commandos. Quite blatant. I thought it was the Boy Commandos. Maybe I'm thinking of the Bowery Boys
  9. Yeah, that was unfortunate. I like 238 much better. Not to mention I always liked the original red and blue instead of that flash in the pan black costume.
  10. I think Robby the Robot inspired Lt Commander Data. Prove me wrong
  11. I'm sure somebody does but as to speculating on future value? Well, that's a crapshoot.
  12. I’ll come over to modern and leave the curmudgeon to his bronze books.
  13. You know if you were Glenda I might listen to you but since you're not, no go.
  14. Can you please move that modern junque to the modern thread?

  16. Payette is neither inactive nor defunct. I just bought something from him, through his website, a couple weeks ago
  17. Payette is not defunct >> http://www.jamespayettecomics.com/ I think in some cases the old website might be defunct/inactive but they are still present on social media and/or ebay. Just one example but I found Redbeard's facebook page >> https://www.facebook.com/people/Redbeards-Book-Den/100049945825883/ And his ebay >> https://www.ebay.com/str/redbeardsbookden
  18. Don't worry because you aren't going to find anybody and even if you do, consider yourself very lucky if they'll give you 2 bucks for it. You'd probably have more success changing water to blood.
  19. Since all of us can't see these books to judge for ourselves, how do we know that CGC is doing well?
  20. That's how I collected early on. I'd go to a show and if I didn't walk out with a big stack of books, I'd think it was a failure. If I had it to do over, I would have gone for keys instead of bulk. However, that's hindsight talking and in those days, amassing comics was what I was interested in doing so when examined that way it's hard to have regrets. c'est la vie
