  1. That is very true. Today's NM was labelled MT in the 1980's. Some fifteen years ago a coin/stamp dealer at the mall attached to the Thornhill Community Centre north of Toronto.mailed one of my collecting buddies in Vancouver several rare 1952 Crown Brand CFL cards which were printed on very thin 8" x 10" "cardboard" unprotected in a manila envelope! The mailman folded the envelope over to insert it into the mail slot thus badly creasing the cards. The coin/stamp dealer disclaimed any responsibility. The same jerk then made an insulting offer for some CFL and other cards from the fifties to another collecting buddy of mine from Winnipeg and was startled/surprised when my buddy just folded up his binder and walked out of the store. I cheered when the dealer went out of business around the turn of the century. It looked good on him.
  2. Here are scans of my Green Lantern comics featuring Tomar Re cover appearances:
  3. So very sad. Did they look like this? Or do you think they might have been Revell "Big Daddy" Roth fink model kits?
  4. Did somebody mention Gold Key? Here then are scans of some of mine: 1 Northland copy 2 4 5 6 Northland copy 7 I thought I had completed my run of Doctor Solar comics in VF/NM condition or better until I took out my stack a few months ago and discovered a white paint smear on the bottom left of issue #3 that I must have overlooked previously thinking it was just part of the swirl of colours in the background!
  5. A nice book, maybe F/VF+, but not NM. Is the fellow still a dealer? He'd be a good one to avoid.
  6. I love all three of those titles, but sadly I have too few Little Dots and no Blondies or Stumbos at all! That's a character flaw I'd like to work on over time.
  7. I was hoping it would! There have to be a lot of secret Harvey collectors on this board. Well it's time now to come out of the closet! Here are a couple of scans of a Harvey title that hasn't generated any buzz in decades: But I still like it!
  8. I'd actually be disappointed if my Hawkman run didn't grade out to an average of VF.
  9. I really like Hot Stuff, Little Audrey and Nightmare! The other fellow ... not so much.
  10. Wow! Fabulous! What I like best about the Golden Age forum is the sheer variety of genres collected and proudly displayed. In contrast the Silver Age forum most often seems disinterested in anything but Marvel and DC (sometimes anyway) superheroes. For example this thread in the Silver Age forum sadly expired months ago: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=4810821&fpart=1 But similar threads rage on in this Golden Age Forum for years.
  11. Amazing copy, that book looks to be as fresh as the day it was printed. (thumbs u He has many more in that kind of shape. He's like that you know. A co-worker? Where do you work, a comic shop? I don't believe I'd get any bids to purchase were I to display my comics at my office.
  12. Yes indeed! While most casual comic fans today associate the Harvey name with Casper, Wendy, Hot Stuff, Richie Rich, Little Dot and other such titles for young readers, Harvey published a complete range of genres over the years. Here are scans of one of my Harvey titles featuring a Sunday newspaper hero:
  13. Wow! Those are nice! (thumbs u Fabulous copy!
  14. Here are some scans of the title featuring Casper's main squeeze:
  15. Here are some scans of the comic featuring Casper's nemesis:
  16. Here are scans of my next group of books featuring Hawkman: Northland copy
  17. We need a thread to showcase our Harvey Comics on this board! Here are some scans from my collection featuring Harvey's flagship character:
  18. From the pic that #34 certainly looks nicer than a 7.0.
  19. No. It's just that there is currently no reason for me to encase my comics in plastic thus making it impossible for me to read them.
  20. I'd grade my number #1 a VF- from the scan. I've noticed, however, that my scans accentuate every shortcoming/defect of my comics terribly. They all look better in hand than do the scans. I keep wondering though how my collection compares to those of other advanced DC Silver Age collectors. I would have loved to see scans of some of these fabled DC Silver Age collections such as Gary Carter's to compare their comics with my own.
