  1. 1. The Battle Aces of 3 Wars stories in All-American Men of War 89-101 had a Korean War part. All-American Men of War 101 had a particularly fabulous MIG cover and I'm a huge fan of MIG covers. 2. The Capt. Hunter storyline in Our Fighting Forces 99-106 was set in Vietnam. I'm still trying to complete my run. They're tough to find in grade. 3. The story in Star Spangled War Stories 115 featured a Korean War era helicopter.
  2. Bad idea. I only own a 4.0 now so it should start there. Well I for one would be opposed to leaving you off the list.
  3. Here's a link to Ditko's AF 15 cover: http://www.samruby.com/AmazingFantasy/Large/AmazingFantasy15Alt.jpg Hmmmmm. It's a bit simplistic/cartoony compared to his later Amazing Spider-Man covers but it still fits in better with those than does the Jack Kirby cover.
  4. Here are scans of some of my earliest Batman books:
  5. Alright, you've convinced me. I've now gone and scanned a few Turok books from my own collection:
  6. Please post the unused Steve Ditko cover if you can. To me Spider-Man just looks awkward on the cover of AF15. I think it's a lot better than his cover on AF15 but Kirby's Spider-Man still looks too stocky to me. Steve Ditko drew Spider-Man as the gangly teen he was at the time.
  7. I particularly like the Lois Lane one! (thumbs u
  8. Here are scans of a couple more of the Green Lantern books from my collection:
  9. Here are a scans of a couple more of the Flash books from my collection:
  10. 1. I don't buy multiples of books unless I find a copy in distinctly better condition. Therefore if I already owned one of either of those books in a condition that was satisfactory in every way, I'd be looking to buy a different book. 2. Putting price aside, Amazing Fantasy ranks way down on the list of Marvel comics I'd like to own. Amazing Spider-Man 1 has more aesthetic appeal than Amazing Fantasy 15 in my eyes. I just don't like Jack Kirby's rendition of Spider-Man on the cover of AF15. And was the origin story of Spider-Man from AF15 not reprinted in its entirety in Amazing Spider-Man 1?
  11. I disagree because there are 40x as many AF 15 buyers than SC 22. That's why I continue to add to my DC comic collection. I don't mind paying for short supply, but I really resent paying the prices caused by high demand.
  12. Huh?! Don't you mean that both the supply and prices of Marvel Silver Age books dwarf those of DC? Is not the supply of Marvels higher as are the prices?
  13. Will do! In the meantime here are scans of a couple of my "Superman" issues:
  14. While admittedly there seems to be less interest in those titles than in the Julius Schwartz edited ones and in the Batman family titles, I for one have been pecking away at those titles when the price is right. Have you posted a list recently?
  15. You and me both Shep...err...umm... I should say, I'm excited about these Atlas books too. Just kidding Shep and I've got nothing against boners. Underwater action. Oh my! I can get into some underwater action. I'm going to have to get myself a piece of that at the next comic con I attend, I just never knew that kind of book was available! (thumbs u
  16. Well then try this scan from my collection on for comfort: Plus here's another Korean War cover but by Maurice Whitman:
  17. Wow! One doesn't see books from 1958 in that kind of condition very often! Here are three more scans from my collection of Lois Lane covers I really like:
  18. Wow! I've always loved Bizarro World! Somehow though I've never before stumbled across that first cover.
  19. And here again is a scan of my Outlaw Kid 15 to replace the one lost a few pages back:
  20. Here's a scan of my collection of Combat Kelly books:
  21. Here are scans from my collection of a couple of Lois Lane comics from 1962 with charming covers:
  22. No way. I think that only a minority have been "found". There are all kinds of hardcore long term collectors who don't slab their books quite simply because they have no intention of selling them in the foreseeable future. That's what I would hope too but I think you're probably right about flippers now being the dominant players since movies seem to have become the tail that wags the dog.
  23. Now I'm confused. I thought that you thought that we all thought or should think that Showcase 22 was the only important Silver Age book?
