  1. Gil Kane's artwork, particularly his drawing of human figures, evolved dramatically between the years 1963-64 and 1969-70. Here are some of his Green Lantern covers from 1963-64: Northland copy And here are some of his Green Lantern covers from 1969-70: In my opinion his representation of both human faces and figures declined dramatically over those five or six years. Granted the earlier covers were all inked by the old master Murphy Anderson while the latter ones were inked by Kane himself, but I believe that Kane's style had evolved in a more surrealistic direction over those years. And I much prefer his earlier artwork.
  2. Mmmmmm! Great girl art throughout this thread!
  3. These Metal Men comics from my collection are all Northland copies. There's some variance in grade though: NM NM- NM- NM VF/NM NM-
  4. And from a buyer's standpoint, the cost of shipping on a low $ comic makes such a purchase uneconomic. I'd just look for such a comic at a local shop or comicon.
  5. Once again I'm not part of the crowd. My exposure to the Legion began in 1963.
  6. Great stuff! Adventure Comics #319 is a surprisingly difficult issue to find for a comic from 1964. I still don't have one and I'd really like to fill in my Legion of Super-Hero covers up to at least issue #330. The early Legion covers I still need are #247, 267, 287, 300, 307, 311, 312, 316, 317, 319, 320, 324 and 330 with #267, 311, 312, 316, 317 and 319 being the ones I want the most for nostalgic or aesthetic reasons.
  7. What a beauty! Fishnets do it for me every time. Oh, the comic is really nice too.
  8. My favourite canine comic character is Brer Fox of Uncle Remus fame: Here are some comics I have with Brer Fox cover appearances: Some books: A record: A cassette: A bread end label: The original art for the 1972 rerelease of the Song of the South movie poster which I acquired through a Hake's auction about eighteen years ago: But best of all is this custom stained glass window featuring Brer Fox and Flower from Bambi in the door leading from my collectibles room to the upstairs balcony:
  9. Cool! Your Frankenstein bucket still has the original price tag and the nose betrays no rub marks. How/when did you acquire it?
  10. I'm actually not the original owner of most of the comics I post. I acquired them mainly between 1979 and 2011 as an adult.
  11. Bad kitty! Incidentally, was the phrase "Flake off!" in popular use anywhere in the States back in the 1960's? I know it got considerable traction in Pete Millar's Drag Cartoons as well but otherwise I never encountered it.
  12. Here are a few of my favourite Lynda Carter pics:
  13. But who saw how she kept her collection? Did you? I don't think those very few photos taken by reporters were indicative of how she kept her comics. I'm guessing that the comics were placed that way for a more dramatic photo shoot.
  14. Oh absolutely! Not the same old high profile stuff but the seldom seen western, teen and funny animal titles!
  15. I'm surprised that Jessica Rabbit hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet:
  16. Here's one I don't believe I've posted here yet:
  17. I didn't have any Aquaman comics below #11 as a kid but I was still somehow aware that Aquaman had appeared in several issues of Showcase. I must therefore have seen one or more of these house ads somewhere: I am very pleased of course to have copies of these issues in my present day collection:
  18. When are you going to free it from its plastic prison?
  19. A few more pics of Mera never hurt any thread:
  20. There's more than one way to take out a sub:
  21. Just tell her she's convinced you to give up collecting junk. From here on in you're going to devote your spare time and money to drinking in strip joints like a mature adult man.
