  1. I think I'm among the very biggest fans of the Howdy Doody title on this board. Here are scans of my five File copies: 13 20 22
  2. I concur! Black cover, witch cover bats, full moon and ghost cover all in one! Much better presenting copy than mine! Thanks for posting! I disagree. It is very good, but it's not as good as the covers on some of the Bugs Bunny Halloween Giants.
  3. Wow! Did you just produce the show in 1988? Was it not as much of a success as you hoped?
  4. Oh you bet I do! Those Marx mechanical toys were fabulous. If you want to induce maximum droolage, post those pics on the UMA forum: Universal Monster Army
  5. A comic collection consisting of nothing but Dell (and perhaps Harvey) Giants would be eye-poppingly impressive all by itself.
  6. Well then here's another fabulous one for your viewing pleasure: That was a pretty hefty premium (40%); was the Canadien dollar in a bad way against the U.S. dollar at that point? Actually in 1958 the Canadian $ was worth just over U.S.$1.03! But everything in Canada seemed to cost more in those days. For example, there were penny packs of baseball and other gum cards in the States. No such thing in Canada. And I understand that a nickel pack in the States contained gum together with six cards. Canadian nickel packs only had four cards with the gum.
  7. Well then here's another fabulous one for your viewing pleasure:
  8. Hmmmmm. A 9.4 Giant Bugs Bunny Halloween cover from 1956? I'd be wiping the drool off my chin with my sleeve while reaching for my wallet and hoping it wasn't empty.
  9. Remove it from the plastic for me and I'd be willing to pay you 100X the cover price for it!
  10. Are those Canadian price variants? Well the Woody Woodpecker one seems to have a U.K. price on the cover as well but the Tom and Jerry ones don't look at all variant to me.
  11. Dunno. I'd like to score a copy myself. Perhaps if we put out an all-points bulletin?
  12. The stories are the best part of the collection! It's the memories! That's what it's all about.
  13. Indeed! Too many "comic fans" these days conflate comics with specifically superheroes.
  14. I was going to save mine for last but since you insist:
  15. The Uncle Remus cast of characters actually made fairly frequent Appearances in Three Little Pigs and Li'l Bad Wolf stories. Check out the cover of this Wheaties premium booklet from 1950-51:
  16. I love both gradient colourining and Chip 'n Dale comics in general. Here then are scans of a few more delightfully simple covers featuring the lovable scamps: 25 File copy 27 29
  17. The Brownies is a way underrated title. Nice cover with the puppy on that one too (even though as a Four Color as well it's in the wrong thread).
  18. . Sensational! A 9.4 from 1943, and a semi-obscure title to boot. Uncle Wiggily is boss. And I love Halloween covers!
  19. Oh man! I love the Terrytoon characters! That is out of sight.
  20. With cans like that it's very surprising that the brunette has trouble finding love or romance
  21. By Ross Andru and Mike Esposito? Their Silver Age Wonder Woman never looked as good!
