1. Extreme physical strength 2. Yesterday- Not really a Beatles fan but I like this song. 3. Tolkien, Joseph Campbell, Scarlett Johansson. (As long as we are living in fantasy land then I am not married and have no kids. I would have to take at shot.)

Build a Team of Avengers for $15 - Entertainment Weekly

Black widow three times. -
I did not read the previous pages so forgive me if my picks have already been covered. This is right up my alley since I collect hot girl cover books. Also, the women they get in the movies are a who’s who of the hottest. I have two categories. First are actresses in comic related roles. Second are comic only. 1. Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. Probably top three hottest women to ever walk planet earth. 2. Blake Lively in Green Lantern. Terrible movie made slightly watchable by her presence. What a beauty. 3. Alicia Silverstone: Not particularly sexy as Batgirl but she was my first movie crush; coincidentally in “The Crush.” Comic only 1. Black Cat on the cover of Superior Spider-Man 20 by JSC. 2. Supergirl and LOSH 23 by Hughes. 3. Vampirella lives 2 by Hughes

This Week In Your Plastic Crack, Action Figures and Toy Collection
Summydad1 replied to Buzzetta's topic in Comics General
A couple solid pickups from my LCS before isolation. He bought and old collection and knows I collect older Cobra. I’m building my Vipers army. Probably my favorite figure other than maybe original CoCo. -

Some of my favorites. I don’t have tons of Bronze Age Spidey but I have a few of the keys covered. I have a 238 (9.6W) but no picture. The next one I am gonna pickup is 122. Great covers in this age.

This Week In Your Plastic Crack, Action Figures and Toy Collection

Here are a couple of Joes I picked up at a local toy convention. The Vipers figure is from eBay and is mint. -
What is the best LCS in the Jacksonville area?
Summydad1 replied to Lurker89's topic in Comics General
I live in the area. There are two really good shops. One is Cosmic comics and the other is Mythical Mountain. Cosmic is an old school shop with a massive inventory of gold, silver, bronze, and copper. Mythical is more of a new/modern books store with current toys and figures. Those stores are also only 15 minutes away from each other. I have my pull and order new books at mythical but go to cosmic for my other key book needs. I am buddies with both owners and both are solid dudes. -
Hulk 181 and send it to CCS for crack, press, regrade.

Haha. Yeeeah! Thanks. Also, I adore wolverine. Here is a double whammy for you. A Rai 0 homage I had done by David Lapham framed behind a Wolverine sideshow statue. Boom! We can be best friends if you want and as long as my wife doesn’t mind.
-
I'm not really wondering. I know it exists and just like most people I know who has it. The owner has been asked many times in the past about value and selling. I was trying to make a joke. Swing and a miss. Also, I am a big VALIANT fan and Rai 0 has always been my favorite. I think this would be the coolest book to own so in a way I was giving respect to the owner.
-
All this Rai 0 talk makes me wonder if one was ever graded at a 10 and if so what would that be worth? Now that would be a neat book to own for a VALIANT fan.

Comic Books (or Characters) That Haven't Aged Well
Summydad1 replied to theCapraAegagrus's topic in Comics General
That Cap cover in the original post is classic. All kidding aside, I would love to have that original art framed in my home. The floating head would put a smile on my face every day. Also, there is a comparison here of unlikely events that can actually happen and therefore give you hope. George hooking up with Marissa Tomei is just as likely as that Cap cover getting published by Marvel. If one can and did happen then why not the other. Same level of absurdity/humor. -
I unearthed these in a collection. They were all together in a one golden age bag. Condition seems pretty good. I am posting these in this sub forum because the dates are in the 60’s. I guess I have 3 questions. 1. What are they? 2. Do they all belong together? 3. Is there any value? Thanks in advance for any knowledge.

So, what was the first CGC graded comic you purchased?
Summydad1 replied to nepatkm's topic in Comics General
ASM 300 in 9.2. Long gone but never forgotten. -
Who here tried to collect runs of titles? (Completists)
Summydad1 replied to nepatkm's topic in Comics General
I am currently thinking about creating a run of X-men from 94-268. About five years ago I was making the same attempt but stalled out about halfway. The early books in that run are more expensive than I remember. Issues like 102,103,109,112,126 are getting pricey. -

Adam Hughes Supergirl Legion of Superheroes 23 Club
Summydad1 replied to WolverineX's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
All three were purchased off eBay. The 9.6 was a couple years back before it really took off. The raw came next and then the 9.8 came about within the last 8 months. I usually like to have multiples of covers I really like. 9.8 for storage, 9.6 for display, and raw as a back up I guess. Haha. I have multiples of the Wonder Woman 38 too. -
Adam Hughes Supergirl Legion of Superheroes 23 Club
Summydad1 replied to WolverineX's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
I think that to some degree the modern age is defined by variant covers. When I think of iconic cover artists from this age I think of Adam Hughes, JSC, Dell Otto, and possibly Mattina. When I say iconic I mean that their work is instantly recognizable and desired by collectors. Also, some of their covers are widely available while some are more rare. I believe each of these artists have a couple covers that are better examples of their style. Supergirl LOSH being one of those. That being said I think saying that this book is “one of the most defining modern variants ever” is accurate. This is all my opinion of course. -

Here is a pic of my raw copy. Just for comparison it is next to a Wonder Woman 38 Finch variant. The Hughes holds up! -

Adam Hughes Supergirl Legion of Superheroes 23 Club
Summydad1 replied to WolverineX's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Yeah buddy. I love it! It is one of the only comics that I can stare at longer than a few seconds to take it all in. Mesmerizing. Not just the boobs but hair and face and angle of her head. I respect and own plenty of JSC or David finch or artgerm girly covers but something about Adam Hughes. He just gets it. I have a NM raw copy that I will post when I have time to take a pic.
