  1. MY grades are in, I believe if I checked right I am going up against last years champion.... James G
  2. How the hell did the gl get a 9.4 with the marker on the cover in the lower left. That doesnt make sense unless they missed it. Was it listed in the notes? James G
  3. I have watched over the last 5 years these books go nuts. I have sold some copies and shortly after I have regretted it. I will try to hold onto what I have and add as quickly as possible on all the pre robin bats covers. I have 27-30 so the rare issues are taken care of now I just need to deal with the big guns of 31 and 35 while also trying to maintain other collections and a comic business..... It's hard to really know when to sell and when to hold, but for the most part I don't plan on selling any of the copies I have now unless I have a replacement. I think it's hard for people to adjust to the market changes especially when a few years ago you could have owned the book for say 25% of what it is going for now. I don't have that problem I just adjust to the new sales, only thing I try not to do is set the top price. James G
  4. If nothing else it seems I know how to grade pretty well My grades were in last night!!! James G
  5. Whats the Ruling on Qualified grades. Ie is a Q-7.5 the same as a 7.5? James G
  6. Where is the detective 27 any idea on the grade details.???? James G
  7. If i read this all right no Timelys? No MM 1 or cap 1. That kind of surprises me as esp the mm would seem to have been something of interest. James G
  8. Man those are both really nice copies for the grade, I mean really nice, bight covers and all.... James G
  9. This would make sense if the centerfold was in nice shape, this one was missing piece along the margin and was beat pretty bad. James G
  10. Based on the condition i thought the price was nuts. There was a lot of damage to the paper with spin splits and pieces missing from the cf so not sure it would be worth marring into anything. There are plenty of copies of this book around and several incomplete and coverless copies have been auctioned over the kast year. Sometimes its timing but i think you could get a lot more for your money. James G
  11. It depends on why it was detached often paper can be put under the staple for it to hold. Yes you must use the original staples otherwise you get into restoration. James G
  12. If your saying your reattaching the original cover to the book that would not be married. It is when you attach a part from a different copy to an existing book that it gets married. I don't think many people really understand what married means as you are taking two original parts from the same ear and putting them together with any restoration or repair. Sometimes this is simple like attaching a cover or centerfold sometimes it's a bit more involved. James G
  13. I need a centerfold to a Marvel Mystery 57 and parts to a Whiz 5 2nd and 3rd wrap. Plenty to trade and lots of cash too. James G
  14. still sounds like a pretty strong price. There have been a good number of coverless copies floating around. Yes and it was a nice presenting FRONT cover only. Your certainly not going to slab it as a married .5 are you.... Parts really seem to sell well and i guess if the buy in on this book is 6-8k then 2k for the best pary is mire affordable. James G
  15. Easy to deal with and quick to pay, no problems. Thanks James G
  16. I don't hear too much about Red Raven 1 anymore when elite Timelys are discussed. At one point (witness the above) it was right up there. Same point re Tough Kid Squad 1. What, if anything, has happened to those two books? sadly, without a Hollywood -script, that book or character gets left behind. RR1 features Jack Kirby's 1st signed work for Timely which should mean a lot to the Timely or Kirby enthusiast. Stan was fortunate that his 1st work for Timely landed in a premier character and title. Perhaps in some cases but has a lack of a movie hurt either Sub-Mariner 1 or MPFW 1? They certainly have risen in price. Just compare all the Timely Keys. Cap 1 with several movies has got nuts the rest of the books havent rusen to much. Movies increase the popularity of a character which in turn creates demand which results in higher prices. Sometimes the demand keeps going and sometimes it crashes. Generally this doesnt impact gold as much as silver and later books. I dont see Red Raven even doing much bc of limited sales and no main character. MPF is just to rare and with such limited sales an increase in price is very hard. James G
  17. Several of these books have tape on the interior cover and centerfold, this would concern me as it may be covering splits or detached pieces.... James G
  18. Great cover but not a Batman cover that is what he means.... James G
  19. This basically shows how crazy pre Robin books have gotten. Not crazy if you have the wrap and can unrestore the book.....
  20. No your not going to see a book with 3/4 of the cover replaced. Generally pieces added can include chips at the edges and at the spine. I do not know at what point another notation would be used but I would say if 1/4 of the cover was replaced, say a logo it would be noted differently and not just pieces added but more of logo replaced of 1/4 cover replaced/married something along those lines. I don't think you would see anything bigger then say a business card type size included under pieces added but it can vary from book to book. James G
  21. I have had both in various states. Mavel 1 may be the start of the universe but it is a conpletely irelvant book these days. I. Like the cap cover more anyway. Cap 1 all day. James G
  22. I was interested in the detective 36 but was worried either the cover was detached or the spine was split.... James G
  23. So what do these books with the original cover removed and one of these new covers worth? Any more then a coverless? I would assume they would use different staples too? James G
