  1. Great copy. I had the 8.0 a year ago. It was then the highest graded, but the miscut bothered me. this copy is better
  2. Hello Greg. I have my own confession. Despite my words earlier, I truly love the deco train
  3. I thought about this book and (let the bricks begin to fly) wasn’t sure it had the legs to carry it in the hearts and minds of future collectors. Like the 7 and the 10, it’s an early Supe cover. No new characters (to my knowledge), just early Supe covers. Sorry, that truly was my thought
  4. That’s the one I bid on. It was sitting at $18k as the clock ran down. I believe there was only one other person. I dropped out at $27k and it hammered at $27.5. I believe if I’d left it alone, someone would have walked off with it at the $18k Grrrr!
  5. I drew a lot of bricks when I said it earlier, but I still think prices were a bit down in that auction. Sure, there were a few flashes of activity, but not on the books I follow most
  6. Wasn’t it the Meyers who sued Cgc? They accuse Cgc of a lot of things, including not grading their work fairly. So I agree it’s not advisable to send that book to them
  7. Your experiences are different from mine. A year ago, I passed on a 8.0 for not that much more than Clink's 5.0.
  8. Woowoo, whenever I see I’ve been quoted by you, I always get ready for the egg that I know is hurtling my direction
  9. Time for a thread bump. Tec 168 prices have been soaring. If Jokers origin is doing this, shouldn’t there be a similar uptick of interest for Jokers first appearance? or has it happened already and I just missed it?
  10. Interesting that you also have some Tommy Thorson books. Are they Tecs? And calling what I have a “collection” is too kind. It’s more like a small, intimate gathering of friends. But thanks for the compliment
  11. Indubitably. But truth to tell I thought mine was a lowball bid with no chance of success. Oops
  12. Well, thanks. But I’d hoped for better color. anyway, I live in dallas so I just drive over whenever. From that standpoint it’s a nice deal. Hope your book arrives soon!
  13. Just collected my winnings from heritage, and the book didn’t match up very well to the image they advertised. Their image is on top. What I got was the one on the lower left(and yes, I have 2 books the exact same grade mostly because I don’t even know why)
  14. Just picked up yesterday from Heritage the copy on the left. (Heritage mos def juices their images) I just added below the Heritage image:
  15. This may seem presumptuous of me, given my low post count, but . . . Good job everyone on this thread. I, too, passed on it earlier this year, and then again last night, due to the unsightly name. I own books with kids names written on them(Tommy Thorson, anyone?), and I guess to me it just depends on its placement on the cover and it’s level of neatness.
  16. There’s a clink auction ending tomorrow, and before leaning into a book, I wanted the grader notes. I knew nothing of the server problems and just called customer service for the notes since I couldn’t find em in the usual spot. The woman who answered laughed and read the notes over the phone to me for free. SCORE!
  17. Thoughtful reply. can you imagine these signatures on a Cap 3??!!
  18. I MISSED THAT!! Shoot, trite as it is, I woulda added that to my collection
