  1. The monster is a bit of a disappointment, but I love the flowers, plants and foliage. There's just something about a Wolverton alien world that I find irresistible
  2. Right. But I don’t think there’s any sharing of book listings beforehand by the auction houses. I’m sure Heritage and Clink, after the books got listed, looked up at each other and said “ you, too?”. I assume Clink advised their 2 Cap sellers beforehand of the double listing, and they decided the grades were far enough apart that they agreed to the timing. regardless of how we got to this place, I’m guessing gps will be down. In March of 2019, in a CC auction, a 7.0 went for $243k. http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=706816. I look back now and think that may have been a tad high. I hope I’m wrong, but I think especially now with 3 great books hitting at once, the 7.0 won’t come close to that price
  3. Clink, not heritage. Sorry. We are back to multiple auctions running at the same time and my head is starting to explode. but wait, I’m a bit slow at the moment. Are you talking about your flag moniker?
  4. depends on whether or not it has a CVA sticker attached kidding. Are you talking about the Heritage 5.0?
  5. I was there for that one! And I agree on your analysis. The bidding pool for a 9.8 is gonna be smaller than the bidding pool for a 9.4. And If 9.4 can’t crack $1 mil, it doesn’t bode well for the 9.8, IMO. but this is a level with which I am unfamiliar, so what do i know
  6. Yes I feel like an insufficiently_thoughtful_person but don’t know how to edit my dumbassery
  7. I don’t see any definitive thread on this topic, so forgive me if I missed it i have been interested in Watterson’s original art, and I know it’s scarce because he holds it all, and is very opposed to commercialization if his work. Truly, a man of principle as a result, the small amount of art out there goes for heavy gold. Like all people with valuable collections, sooner or later they end up in the hands of heirs. And more often than not, they need money and so the next thing you know, they put out a press release saying “It’s time for the world to be able to enjoy this stuff”, and then Heritage or whoever announces a huge signature auction. who here has a crystal ball? Heritage is currently carrying a very nice page, but I don’t want to be the guy that pays heavy gold right before a glut hits the market. and for anyone who might take offense by my question, let me just say I truly believe Watterson gave a gift to this world with Calvin and Hobbes
  8. Darn. Say hello to my “late to work” day . . . im back. This is already one of the top bid items.
  9. I know this will make me sound like the guy who says “I only read Playboy for the articles”, but the thing I like about this book is the flannel sleeve on that guy
  10. CC must have just added this. Not there a few days ago
  11. Wait, what??? Wasn’t that you said Cap should waste that guy? Prompting the secret petition you change your moniker!
  12. Sounds simple, but easier said than done. It’s easy sometimes, and not so easy other times, to draw definitive conclusions
  13. At the time the buyer declined the full refund, he didn’t know the centerfold was married. Not the same thing
  14. These covers are so cool, let’s all look at them again . . .
  15. Why is that couple down in that manhole? And how’d all that equipment get down there!!?? great cover!
  16. I love this observation. I also agree with bronze Johnny that Schomburg is the face of the golden age WWII comics
  17. Im a lover not a fighter, but here goes . . . I’m shocked any of the high post count boardies are putting the blame on you. I guess it’s your fault you didn’t bring and hook the seller to a polygraph
