  1. Hey you probably sold that to me! I just sold this exact book last year thru Comicconnect- for a whopping $50 profit!
  2. These still have that “pulpy” feel to me, especially the Tec 35 with the big ears
  3. I snoozed and I losed (Popular Teen-Agers)
  4. Low grade Tec 27 unrestored? $600k for a 1.5-2.0. $700k for 3.0-4.0. Those who own them will says it’s more, and they may be right But I defer to the expertise of Gotham Kid
  5. I look at some of the older profiles, and when I see they haven’t posted in years, I wonder about that. I guess they live on thru their posts
  6. It’s funny to read what the thinking was 16 years ago. The thinking today is so different. I love reading these old posts and wondering where those posters are today. Are they still filled with passion for the funny books, or did they just wake up one day and the thrill was gone?
  7. I see what you mean. Truly a great cover on 2 characters that are everywhere
  8. You can say that, but I respectfully disagree. If I'm going to spend well into 6 figures for a book, as I have the last couple of years, I can't go about it stupidly. It's no longer a "lark" to buy a Bat 1 or a Cap 1, like maybe it once was for some guys on this board. The hobby needs guys like me still willing to leap into the breach. You cannot dismiss guys like me as "not a true collector".
  9. I have become the accidental owner of multiples this same exact way. I say multiples because a sane person would then let go of their undercopies. I never let go of my undercopies
  10. The caronavirus just crashed the stock market, so what the heck, let’s make a complex question more complex!
  11. This has always confused me. There is supposed to be Baker art in here. Is one of these names a pseudonym?
  12. And now for something slightly different. . . ive seen the occasional post where people list their favorite covers. From what I have seen, most people’s lists are very different from the next guy’s list. I myself prefer the covers of issues in the 60s and 70s, so the current Heritage weekly auction is giving me additional insights into which issues people like the best. As you know, Heritage tells us the number of “watchers”, which I find quite instructive. Of course the high bid is the best measure of a books relative value, but I figure if someone has it on their “watch” list, they are a fan even if they don’t bid . . .
  13. A few months ago in Capri I found a poster advertising a comic show that had taken place 30 days earlier. It was the Superman picture that caught my eye. So there IS some interest out there, at least down along the Amalfi coast.
  14. Actually, NerV, I have read every single comment closely and found them all helpful. I realize people are passionate about their opinions either way, and some seem to have been dismayed by the very question itself. I was sorry to see some people get a bit irritated with each other and have occasionally stepped in to try to drain out some of the pressure. But yes, these comments absolutely did help solidify my thoughts. I know my next comment will likely generate some "how full of sh&%$t is this guy?" questions, but I was seriously pondering a Tec 27. After reading carefully what people have said(and yes, I do consider each one of you to be experts), I've decided not to come out of the stock market to do it, and am just going to stand pat on the books I've already got. A 5 year "hold" on them seems about right. I love them and want them, but my plan is to liquidate in 5 years, retire, and move to Rome. For real. Thank you everyone. You are my friends. Even you, woowoo.
