The year isn't over yet, and comics aren't the only thing I've been drawn to acquire, but here's a pick-up from the OAFcon awhile back...
Nice. One of my favorites

In your experience, how often do you end up with comics sold with missing centerfolds that were not mentioned in the listing (perhaps because even the seller wasn't aware)? Are non-Modern Age comics prone to this sort of issue? When centerfolds are missing, what grade does it automatically drop down to no matter what?
It happens enough that people lucky enough to own the centerfolds of big books ask for insane amounts of money on them, banking on the idea there’s books out there that need em. This is true even when the centerfolds do not depict the character that made the book famous in the first place(Tec 27, I’m looking at you) The following centerfolds are being offered even as we speak - the Supe 1 being offered by Blizzard on eBay($25k) and the Tec 27 on CC ($50k).

Did end the year on a high note, both OA and comics. One show kindled my passion for animation and comic collecting with fond memories of trips to Camelot Comics with my father to buy the books off the stands.
Great stuff, Pink. You sure got busy after Dallas!

Post that fugly thing.
Thanks Vintage. But since I already posted it in the Post Your Promise Wins thread, it would feel like I’m just tarting the book out if I were to repeat myself.

This thread has gone off the rails. If it’s ok with you guys, I’m gonna go back to liking and respecting my Timely Promise book

I have not read this whole thread, so maybe it’s already in here somewhere. But in looking thru my books just now, I made the most amazing discovery. It feels like discovering a second Renoir underneath the first one . . . Is it just me, or has Baker reprinted the cover image from Teenage Romances 9 into his cover for Teenage Romances 32?

Are you implying CLink is affiliated with the sticker company?
Yes, same as CC has their own affiliation. I just thought there was a little more separation between auction house and grading service than this

Yes, it costs to get those stickers. I got a phone call on a book saying it was eligible for the sticker and costs $50.00. I took it.
Just to clarify, It was Clink, not the sticker company, who called and told you your book was sticker worthy?

Let’s face it whomever initially bid up those Promise books like crazy must of came in to some serious power ball type money. But that doesn’t explain why so many have been relisted so soon ((unless they spent all their cash).
Crypto crashed

Based on results of a just-completed auction, resellers of Promise books on Comiclink aren't having any better success than those reselling on Heritage.
Maybe Heritage felt a twinge of guilt and that’s why they gave us certificates waiving sellers commissions when we go to resell them.
otherwise, we are just getting posterized when we decide it’s time to let go

Yes, you’re right. But I don’t think the price drops on Promise books are because the pedigree itself is unpopular. I think the Promise collection was the “perfect storm” of newbie cryptocurrency collectors along with a new pedigree just coming to market. What could possibly go wrong?
The Cap 27 that just sold is a perfect example. Even though the copy in today’s auction had stronger eye appeal than the Promise book, it hammered at a much lower price. After all, the crypto guys have evaporated, and the “perfect storm” that was the Promise launch is now no more than a cautionary tale we tell our children
