  1. Is there a chance of a house ad in a pulp with ac1 in it? I know marvel comics 1 cover was in a pulp, and I've seen other comics like real life comics and jungle stories in pulp house ads. "Donenfeld owned a printing plant and a distribution company, Independence News. Donenfeld also published pulp magazines under a variety of company names: DM, Culture, Trojan, Speed, Arrow. Yes, Donenfeld published the spicy pulps! This included the Super-Detective title which had pulp hero Jim Anthony. Strangely, the title logo of Super-Detective matches the style of the title logo of Superman comics! But am not aware of any crossover of characters or creators between his pulps and DC Comics. He actually ran short comics in his spicy pulps, like “Sally the Sleuth.” He seems to have kept the two quite separated."
  2. A dollar? Thing must be like a thousand pages!
  3. It is pretty iconic to my age group. I read that first issue to death, and all my friends had a copy. I think it might have been given out as a promo or something because that first issue was everywhere. I'd love a clean copy for nostalgia, just not at 6 figures.
  4. Finally found mine and im counting 72, so I'm guessing I'm missing a centerfold? My first and last page *edit* just pulled it back out, and the story seems to follow through on the centerfold. I'm thinking it is 72 pages?
  5. Sadly this. I got it as a kid in the early 90s from a pawn shop's 25cent bin. Don't think I could even finish reading it, and had so little love for the book I didn't even bag it until recently. They look like they go for around $10 now, so a better return than all those issues of darkhawk I bought 😆 photo is from the internet, not worth the effort trying to find it.
  6. Just sent my little soldier off to auction Going to miss the lil bugger.
  7. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_Gunness yowzers, they didnt have to exaggerate for the comic too much
  8. I'm still not seeing any real evidence of this book being one of the most desirable pulps. I can think of dozens off the top of my head that are better candidates. An easy metric for desirability would be realized sales data, and this book doesn't meet that metric by any stretch. In a decade, maybe, but I'd be very surprised.
  9. What would that cost? Asking for a friend.
  10. Yikes, that's a healthy sale. I got a vg+ copy off ebay a few years ago for like 250.
  11. Reached out to the seller and he was super nice so I told him no worries. All is well in the world
  12. Yar, I've been eyeballing this copy for a while, and like the fellow hanging from the boom, I finally took the plunge.
  13. Why is the monster in the magazine so skinny? Typical unobtainable hollywood standards.
  14. One of the first books I picked up when I got back into comics a few years ago. Still one of my favorites.
  15. Very interesting stuff. I'll have to read both stories, now I'm actually looking forward to the Skylark just as much as Rogers. And I named my dog after Buck rogers
  16. Yah complete copies are beyond my budget now. I usually avoid coverless but I figutr this book has more going for it than just the cover 🤔
