Might try Google. I was able to dig up cgc topics on pl17 as far back as 2013, but not the one you're talking about.

STOLEN COMICS and they tried again.
waaaghboss replied to Cobbledclam's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
Did this actually happen? I feel like I've heard this story for decades, and a little digging seems to turn up a case of some teens stealing skylights from a school, suing, and losing. -

So most of the books won't be graded? Kind of good news, look's like a bunch will escape the pancake press Owner held them till he was 94, very impressive. Sounds like the family is the collection has 10 double covers, very cool. Sounds like he was actively seeking them out. At 6:42, Brian accidently drinks from hiss pee bottle

Clearly the mouse nibbled on it as it was being printed, thus its a manufacturer defective.

Why can't we search for golden age anymore on Ebay?
waaaghboss replied to Bo_Hogg1's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Hey now, I love seeing all the Spiderman and Deadpool books listed in the Platinum Age category. Adds a few more minutes of fun scrolling before I see all 5 beaten up copies of Bringing Up Father. Like an Easter egg hunt. -
Why can't we search for golden age anymore on Ebay?
waaaghboss replied to Bo_Hogg1's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
https://www.ebay.com/b/Golden-Age-Comics-1938-1955/66/bn_2310528 I think I'm confused :\ *edit* Trying to actually go into golden age comics, and I cant get anything to actually load. I click funny animal books and all I see are a list of publishers, and a bunch of ads. Can't even get a list to populate. Weird. When I click on my saved searches I can still populate a list. The ebay app on my phone doesnt even give you the choice to filter by age. Weird. I must have a virus. Thought maybe since ebay is unnavigable for GA books, I'd dig around and might get lucky on some books I've been looking for that I rarely see and always lose. This is just painful to search, and it was bad before. -
I think you need to be more specific

Sounds like a solid plan. Bag anything over $10 or so, and let the kids at the rest. When they're a bit older let them at the bagged books.

They're Still Out There! Pt. 2 - The Hole-Punch Pedigree
waaaghboss replied to waaaghboss's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Gotta think like a modern collector. These arent just punched books, these are aerodynamic newstand variants! Actually finding some decent duck books in the pile. Can never have too many lol. -
I'd like to present a new Original Owner collection I acquired today, and one which I think will join the prestigious ranks of comic pedigree collections such as Lost Valley and Promise. The books in this collection tend to range from 1949-1957, and are distinguished expertly placed hole-punches along the bottom of the covers. The collection is slightly south of 200 issues, 90% of which exhibit the original owner's signature punches. This is possibly the largest hole-punched golden age collection yet unearthed, and the condition of the books makes them likely candidates to grade as the highest examples of each issue in it's respective category in punched condition. While negotiations with CGC regarding the pedigree are ongoing, pending eventual pedigree acknowledgement, I think this collection shows that indeed there are still original owner distinguishable pedigrees out there just waiting to be unearthed.

Help identifying value for this #1 issue
waaaghboss replied to NastyNate4201's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
S'all good. My go to for value is to look at ebay sold listing, although a lot of variables can affect that. Gives a good base line though. -
I finally crammed it into a mylar after sitting on my shelf for a week, was shipped in tissue paper lol. I'll break it out tonight and double check, but when I flipped through it earlier it didn't look like the strips were cut down any. The prince valiant was a surprisingly good read. Never liked the strip in the newspaper as a kid, but now I think I have a better appreciation of fosters work. Still need to find a reader copy of single series 20 And if anyone has a feature book 25 they're looking to get rid of...

A great book! A lot of these early GA keys are surprisingly affordable. My prince valiant is cover less, but the splash is the same as the cover so no biggie.
