  1. How do they determine if a book is high value?
  2. Then there's Saucy, Spicy's hotter more expensive friend ;) Mycomicshop has a lot of pulps and mags. Prices vary, as they're often set by cosigner. Search then on ebay for easier browsing, but buy off their actual site, every book is like 15% less there.
  3. Yah I'd be curious what you're able to dig up about it. My thought was, as othereric pointed out, the GA books were possibly a kid having fun with a stamp, where there seems to be a lot of bronze and modern examples where the stamp coincides with a mark jeweler insert. The existence on girlie mags though makes me think that maybe it's not a kid with stamps? I was looking up the dates of the NEX to see how prevalent they would have been prior to ww2, and it looks like they didn't really take off until 1946, although they existed in some form since ww1. The army version had the same trajectory, existing in some form since ww1, but formally coming into being in 41. I would imagine if you find the stamp on a book prior to 41, it would make it less likely to have been due to being sold by a military exchange. My guess would be like was suggested in the other thread possibly a store stamp, or a stamp from a 2nd hand shop.
  4. Yes it's quite an interesting feature on the books. A while back I was looking at an old buck rogers book on ebay and found this topic on star stamps. Lot of modern books, but also a few golden age examples.
  5. Did the pulp equivalent of a dollar bin dive. Most of these were under 5 bucks on mcs.
  6. Yup it's on my want list
  7. Buddy told me about these and I thought they looked neat. Magic, a trading card game, is releasing some cards with a pulp novel art treatment.
  8. Yah, there were several Hersey's, which was fun to see. The one I wanted/was rooting for didn't break the 4 figures. If it goes beyond my range, I at least want it to go for a crazy high amount 🙂
  9. Auction ongoing at HA right now. First issue of Detective Story just went for a solid price!
  10. To expand a bit, I believe they said they'd look at the quality of the trimming (amateur/professional) and factor that in as well. I thought they also said that if trimmed, the highest grade they'll give is a 4.0, but I can't find that source now that I'm looking for it. Also keep in mind some pulps came trimmed from the factory.
  11. I love that star stamp, I feel like I've seen it on a number of comics and pulps. Just got this in today.
  12. Just found this today at a bookstore, not a shark but close?
  13. I was watching a modern tv show where a character gets sent back to 1943, and noticed a legit pulp being read by a salior. Can't quite make out the title but thought it was a cool touch.
  14. That gay Parisienne is one of my favorite girlie covers 😍
  15. Does anyone else have just a nightmare of a time trying to log into adventure house's auction site?
  16. I took a stab at that auction 🙂 Ended up with this book.
  17. An all story Oct 1912 is coming up in seven days from HA. Complete unrestored in VG, be interesting to see how it fares. Already at 39k. More in my wheelhouse is a bound copy with the mars trilogy. Looks tempting but not sure how the covers are. And of course a couple shudder pulps im gunning for but based on HA price histories I'm not holding my breath
