I've been spending way more lately on comics than I should be, but how can you resist a blonde-in-bondage-being-kidnapped-by-a-robot cover? And I understand it was airbrushed by some popular artist.
-
Did it sell on ebay like you told tortoise or at wondercon?
May want to give up before adding more lies to the pile.
...and deeper we go.....
I sold the slabbed copy at Wonder Con you B.o.n.e.h.e.a.d , if you were as smart as you think you are, you would have figured that out.
If I have legal recourse here...I hope all your friends pitch in to help you out You continue to go out on a limb even though nothing was done to you. Even if you are right ( your not however) , you have suffered no damage here?
You will know soon enough, I have an email in to find out your exposure here Krypto . You have a huge mouth, I certainly hope you are ready to back it up ?

Thats a shame, I saw that the other night and was debating it at the time, I am so glad I did not go for it. I guess I am going to stay away from buying raw off the boards unless they are cheap books
Or from reputable sellers. There's at least half a dozen GA guys on these boards (and at least one GA gal, too) from whom I'd buy a raw book based only on their representations.
That said, cracking an 8.5 and then trying to sell it as a 9.2 isn't kosher. A new member of the probation list perhaps?

i can finally post in here... sent my payment today on my 1st G.A book...should have it in hand early next week...im excited
Might as well start thinking about selling those Tales of Suspense. GA is addictive.

Great run! Congrats, I hope you score your last two this year
Thank you. I have a 127 coming from Roy. I'm still looking for a 70. Then I'm done with Jumbo for a while unless the Gerber 9 and 10 drop into my lap.

Senorita Rio
Exactly. Keep it hush-hush because those early issues are already hard enough to find.
-
Cross-posted in Fiction House because it's not really a standard group shot.

As many of you know, I've been working on a Sky Girl set of Jumbo Comics. That means, for a long time (years) my significant GA purchases have been Jumbos. I'm two away from the 68-130 run, but too impatient to wait to show it off. So after a few hours of scanning, here's my Jumbo Comics collection:

Nice!
I bet you'll get a 31 before I do
Since Fight has nothing rare Gerber-wise, unlike Jumbo, I plan to chase the full run. I suspect 31 will be among the last ones I find unless my LCS comes through with one in a collection. The owner knows I'm looking.

Cross posted from the cigar thread:
And the splash page from the first Senorita Rio story. No animal print bikini needed here:

Today's arrival:
And the splash page for the first Senorita Rio story. Can we say "hubba hubba ding ding?"

My Wondercon purchases:
From House of Comics:
The B&B 53 is from the Mohawk Valley Collection. Purchased from Superworld:
My Harley purchase:
Also from Superworld. Ted is a great guy to chat with.
I have no idea who I bought this from, but it was one that the girlfriend noticed right after we arrived:
And my first Fighting Yank comics. How can you resist a superhero saving a blond in a flowered bikini from being eaten by a rare shallow-water surf shark?

Some of you may not be aware of this book. Dated 1952 with rebound romance issues, the entire book! Six Baker stories plus one Kubert and Estrada. The back cover is completely blank as are the inside front and back covers. Exception selection of artwork. The front cover just makes no sense with the content inside.
How common is it to see St. John books with the covers blank? Someone else here speculated they could be Canadian editions. Any further information you could provide about that situation to a St. John neophyte?

Love the Police 21 (thumbs u
Went to the local show today and only bought 3 books
Nice 27. Glad to see you found one. It's one of my favorite Fight covers.

Those Crime and Punishments are great. As an attorney I have wanted to collect law related GA like these or DIstrict Attorneys. Hmmm.
too damn many damn lawyers on this board.
Yep.
Absolutely. They're just as bad and dishonest as those comic dealers cluttering up this place.
woman had a legal problem, and in the yellow pages found "boudreaux, boudreaux & boudreaux." she called, and a guy answered, "may i help you?"
she said, "yes, could i talk to mr. boudreaux?" he said, "oh, he's in court right now."
she asked "then can i talk to mr. boudreaux?" he said, "he's in a seminar."
she said "then, in that case, can i talk to mr. boudreaux?" he replied, "speaking."
A three legged dog limps into a saloon and announces "I'm looking for the man who shot my paw!"
I imagine that man was a lawyer.
A lawyer, a comic book dealer, a fan boy, and a woman dressed as Harley Quinn walk into a bar. The bartender says "What is this? Some kind of joke?"

en route from Mr. Bedrock, both census highest
Had Superboy read comics instead of being such a goody-goody type who only stuck to textbooks and literature, he'd know that Sky Girl is Ginger Maguire

What can I say? You're still the lucky one living so close to A-1. If I was there, we would be having fisticuffs over those FH books
Btw, this cover was better before the art change
Originally, the gorilla was not so. It was a hybrid Man / Ape monstrosity ... but I guess the editor for fear of a hint at miscegenation (for lack of a more adequate term) decided to back down and go full gorilla. What a shame!
You can travel to Sacramento without worrying about fisticuffs. I've been through all of Brian's FH boxes multiple times. They're pretty much cherry-picked unless he got a new collection I haven't seen. (And the last collection he got in with FH, I cherry-picked the Planet 29! So yeah, I'm fortunate in that respect.)
And speaking of fisticuffs, have you seen this:

Filled this one spot. Been waiting for a "red" copy
That's a nice copy. How about a trade for those New Frontiers?
You already have a bright copy, doofus
But mine is more orangey than red.

so, let me get this straight... if one gets seperated, they can get a comic room
That's how I got mine...

Just got this baby in today.
Nice book, but no red dress. It appears she's taking off (putting on?) a green dress. I recommend you send the book to Louise immediately so you don't contaminate your collection.

Whatever happened to the Best Jungle cover poll?
I got distracted by something shiny.
Actually, I got distracted by a redhead. She's still distracting me.

Another excellent photograph of the July 1942 magazine covers.
Anyone unfamiliar with UNITED WE STAND magazine publishers PATRIOTIC FLAG COVER effort for this month....should click on that link.
Fascinating stuff.
I love the Veronica Lake cover. I have about 15 or so Veronica Lake covers.
Cheap shot, but... is that French bottled water in the background?
Which one would you choose ????

Bat 1 7.0 v. Cap 1 8.5 -- I'm a lifelong Batman fan and am contemplating a Batman 1 purchase, but given those two, I'll take the low end of high-grade Cap 1 over the high end of mid-grade Batman 1. Plus, Batman 1 is much more common.
As far as Robin goes, I'll take Tec 38 over MM 9. Robin, love him or hate him, is a significant character. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if not for Robin, Batman wouldn't have made it out of the Golden Age. He needed a supporting cast, especially someone to interact with and Robin filled the void present in Tec 27-37. BUT, as I've said before, once Alfred appeared on the scene, Robin was superfluous. I'd take Alfred as a helper character over Robin any day.
