CGC adding on shipping charges... from Fall 2019?
Crops068 replied to slowdowntubby's topic in Comics General
Ah just saw this. So the Submission form by itself I do not see anything specific other than the prices, there is no mention that the prices are estimates as the accounting department claims. In my earlier post I did link the Legal Terms, which also does not go over anything glaring that I noticed, please let me know if you feel I missed something there. Where I think they will try to push though is on the Return Delivery page. The last line states "Customer is responsible for any shipping or customs charges incurred by CGC in shipping their collectibles. (as shown below) While I have not noticed this before, that does not mean they just added it. They definitely need to update to show somewhere that the pricing are estimates. They also should be warning people before charging additional fees. This is no different than going to get your car repaired and them telling you the cost for repairs would be $1500 and you go pickup your car, pay them and then go to get gas a week later and they say oh just kidding it was actually $2500 and we already charged your card the extra $1000 along with that $20 in gas you just bought. Then when you question it, they respond with "well the market changed so live with it." -
CGC adding on shipping charges... from Fall 2019?

My only slabs are CGC. But you are hitting the nail on the head unfortunately. It is getting harder and harder to defend some of this. I hope they can figure all of this out and get back on track. -
CGC adding on shipping charges... from Fall 2019?

And just in case they try to say the Legal Terms and Conditions are where it is stated, here is the link - https://www.cgccomics.com/legal/terms-and-conditions/ So there is NO mention of shipping being an estimate. It however does "highly encourage" your own shipping. Also "Customer agrees to pay Company all Services fees at the time of submission," 10 months later (or 2 months or anytime after for that matter) is NOT at time of submission. Doesn't that make this whole debacle a violation of their own terms? -

We did it intentionally just to mess with you! I am going with you did it to mess with Blade and for us foilfevers that now cannot complete our Negan Lives with Lucille labels. My life will never be complete..... EVER...... *sobs* -

CGC adding on shipping charges... from Fall 2019?
Crops068 replied to slowdowntubby's topic in Comics General
Pretty much. Answer was "this is the overage for shipping that we are passing off to you". The only want to change it is to have your own account through UPS/FedEx/USPS and hope for a decent rate (and that they actually use it). -
CGC adding on shipping charges... from Fall 2019?
Crops068 replied to slowdowntubby's topic in Comics General
So I have 2 big issues with this - 1. That they are now estimating what they have not said is an estimate. The Submission form, that I can see, does not specify that the shipping charges are an estimation. It states UPS is $14, FedEx is $14 and USPS is $32. And the only differences between the three is preference for UPS/FedEx and insurance for USPS. So if UPS and FedEx are now going up to near matching prices without the insurance, CGC should make that overly clear. This is no longer cost effective for smaller submissions at all. And there is no telling what the cost will inflate for larger submissions. The old $2 extra a book goes flying out the window there. 2. They are doing it very sneakily by adding it to your next invoice without any notice. This is a bad practice, they should have reached out and notified everyone about this. A friend of mine used to charge a flat fee for a service and when it was more they ate the cost and less they kept it. The government came after them for overcharging and they had to pay everyone back what they owed them. When they asked about the overcharging, they were told "oh well". Honestly until CGC puts it somewhere in writing, this should be an "oh well" on them. Suddenly non-shop owners will be less inclined to submit, like myself. As I don't want to fork out the same amount 3 times, once to ship to, once for grading and once for shipping back unless that can be rolled into the value of the item. And let alone someone that doesn't sell anything, like myself. -

That is a silly question when you know I had it added to my shipment and I am not international, even though Texas does what to be its own country. -

It absolutely should be based on actual cost not a guestimate. The sheer amount of shipping CGC does gives them a discount and it sounds like that discount is not as good anymore, granted the world is in a shipping frenzy right now so everything is crazy. -

What accounting told me is that UPS had renegotiated the rates and it is whatever the rate is at that time that they charge you the overage. Which I find it convenient since someone else on another social media platform was complaining about this very topic last month and he was not anywhere near where I was and his "overage" fee was exactly the same as mine for a different signing at a different time/date. It really sounds like they have just not updated the Submission page to reflect the new prices. -

I made a post about this for UPS - Guess it applies to FedEx as well. I noticed the extra $10.23 (something around there) on a CC invoice and immediately called to see what it was. It was the "added cost" for shipping on an already paid in full signing. CGC needs to get their site updated with the new costs. Hiding the updated fees and not disclosing then just surprising people with the charges on the next invoice is pretty low imo. $200 though, I would be pretty furious for sure. -

I would have not gone to the signing, end of story. The way it was handled is insane. -
1 Modern Fast Tracked - Shipped USPS - 8/12 (sat in a USPS hub for a week with no movement - so much for 3 day priority) Delivered to CGC - 8/24 Received by CGC - 8/24 (I think this is a record????) SFG (and clickable) - 8/31 Grading/QC - 9/1 Shipped/Imaged - 9/3 TAT when it was received was 16 business days, actual TAT from date it was received in the system was 8 business days. With shipping it will still be at 11 business days. So 5 business days faster than expected at this point, expecting it back next Wednesday and my estimate when it was received was it not shipping until at least 9/16. Now if you take into account the USPS snafu, it will be pretty much exactly 16 business days.

Would recommend a scan of the back as well. Based on the front only I would put it in the 8.0 range. -
Are you a Feedback Snob? Meaning you won’t leave Feedback.
Crops068 replied to Jordysnordy's topic in Comics General
I will always leave feedback, good / bad / neutral. I think it is important. Your voice could be the deciding factor in someone giving someone else a 2nd chance or deciding not to go with the flake. And honestly, I would expect the Kudos thread to be more of a feedback thread not an all-encompassing back patting room. -

Sad Panda! Would have been nice for them to have lasted until after Negan Lives was out and done. My Bronze and Red foils are both at CGC now, was hoping there would be an added push for them, a death throe if you will. But I guess not. 1st Print, Gold and Silver will have to be Lucille'd and 2nd, Bronze and Red will not. -

Can't you file with eBay now that it has been successfully delivered? Also I would have thought with there being a claim on the tracking it would have put a hold on it keeping it from being delivered or re-routed back to you. Either way, the buyer should absolutely send it back to you. -

Yes, the submission form shows $32, so $8 and they can do insurance based on the declared value. Difference is you know right out the gate you are getting into it for $32 instead of expecting $14 with +$2 each additional book and getting hit with +$10.12 without any sort of notification until you reach out to discuss this sudden fee on an already completed transaction.
