  1. At the end of the day, you can enjoy this show without having a clue who Agatha Harkness is...you can get the sense that Agnes in the show might be someone or up to something. But I highly doubt someone who knows nothing about her is going to see that revealed (IF it even happens) and be like "OH MY GOD ITS AN OLD LADY CHARACTER!!! I HAVE TO BUY HER FIRST APPEARANCE NOW!!!! The fact that people are paying $50-100+ for her first appearance is hilarious. A book like that, sure for an FF collector is neat to have but she is far from a major character and it just goes to show the craziness that exists. And usually, it is someone under 35 buying books for these prices, thinking they can grade and get a great grade and sell for double what they paid. Good luck with that.
  2. A book has to move for you to enjoy a show!?!?!?!?!?! So you are watching hoping it will cause a book to spike and you can make more money!?!?!?!? What a weird world we live in....
  3. I agree Maybe for watchability sake, you don't rewatch the first couple again...or maybe one does simply to see what minor clues might have been there that hinted at the outcome all along. Also, as someone else mentioned concern with earlier, I don't see anyone confused...if you know comics, have been "in" comics for 20+ years, you have a wealth of knowledge giving birth to a wealth of theories. If you have seen every movie and are a newer diehard fan, you can still make a lot of connections. If you are a casual collector and have seen most of the movies, you can also watch and enjoy. And even if you are someone like my wife who has seen 4 MCU movies and has a limited understanding of comics was able to catch up with a brief explanation of who Vision and Wanda are. Oh and she also needed a quick catch up when we went outside the Wanda world. That aside, she has enjoyed and been fine as a green viewer. Maybe you can't partake in some of these crazy theories but do you really want to? I am a huge hockey fan but I have zero interest in spending my days speculating about which trades could happen and this and that and whatever that goes on online...I just watch the games and enjoy. Maybe that applied to someone here.
  4. No problem! I find that 95% of the time, you can get the condition range on a comic correct if you see good pics of the front, back and centrefold. This allows you to see the major areas where flaws exist. The other 5% of the time, sure you might have a missing page, coupon, writing or something on the interior but again that is where you put some trust in the seller.
  5. That book you more so need to be careful because of the hologram cover, not so much the thickness of the book. On thicker squarebound books, you need to be careful because they have staples in addition to glue added on the spine. If the staples inside are poking up and you press, you risk pushing those through the comic. On a book like this ASM book, just because it is a bit larger page count wise, it is still stapled the same as other comics so that worry is not there. But the hologram and adding heat...I am not sure how that has to be adjusted but I believe that is the pressing concern.
  6. I am more in line with this...people grading 6.5 and higher either don't know what this cover looks like originally or they have never had a book graded where there is fading to the entire cover. It has a huge effect. Take a look at this 8.5 book that got dinged for a tiny fading spot top left of the cover at the spine... http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w23/Engr62/Comic%20Book%20Scans/FF149_CGC85_Front_zps16be0a58.jpg Back to this copy...5.0 seems right, maybe a 5.5 at the highest.
  7. Corner ding top left is fairly noticeable...I would grade 8.0-8.5 personally and don't think a press gets ya into the 9's
  8. Is it a cool looking book? Sure! Would I pay $100 for a solid higher mid grade copy? Sure! is it likely getting unwarranted hype because of unknowledgeable collectors? Sure! Are the movies driving this book higher than it should be? Sure! Would I rather own FF4 or even FF6 (the former I don’t but the latter I do)? Sure!
  9. You mean the ink stains? Those are production related and happened a lot on books in the late 80s and early 90s. My understanding is that this effect is minimal because they are production related....
  10. Not sure where the 7.5 and lower grades are coming from....book has minimal spine ticks and just some minor flaws to the back. 8.5-9.0 easy and definitely a press candidate and I think you will do very well.
  11. Ya I am but if anyone else is interested in it I can put them in contact with the seller. Figure it should still go to a good home!
  12. Hi Andy, I usually want to see the front and back covers, spine and centrefold. If it is a book that is notorious for having something cut out of it (like a pin up in Batman #181 or the pin ups at the end of early ASM issues) I will ask to ensure it is there. Those are the things I feel would go missed most often while the rest can be seen. I do this with sellers who are maybe more on the amateur side, and usually you can tell that. If it is someone who sells comics, I still want the pics but I assume they are being honest and would tell me about a cut out or missing page. And if they miss it, I assume they would fix that problem. Maybe that is too many assumptions but it has served me well in 20 years of collecting.
  13. It definitely has mildew and black spots that I fear are mold (having gotten more pictures from the seller). I think I will avoid. I want a nice 2.0 range copy but not with mold/mildew.
  14. Not mine but one I’m looking at. I will add better pics once they are sent but I’m wondering about some initial thoughts and what the “staining” on the back could be?Thanks!
  15. I am also in the 9.4 range. Sharp book. What is this though? Is it just an ink mark? If it is a stain I am curious what CGC does....
  16. 7.0-7.5 A press might see an 8.0 but I have a hard time going higher than that.
  17. I am an amateur cleaner (do it myself on my own books only) and I have yet to find anything non-chemical that would remove that. It is possible something chemical exists but I don't like involving chemicals in any way when cleaning (nor do most collectors). It's ink and not just contact dirt or soiling which means the paper has been stained which means no removing in a safe, non chemical way.
  18. I'm harsh, I personally call books like this in my PC 6.5. But that back could clean up (not hard to do yourself with a little practice) and it would likely be a 7.0
  19. Yup 0.5 blue label or possibly a 2.5-3.0 qualified
  20. 4.5 from me. Which is 4.5 times nicer than my copy
  21. I have no problems buying from a newbie but I do like a vouch of confidence or even an Ebay handle with good praise to make me feel confident. As mentioned, follow the rules and you should be fine. I also found that being an active poster helps. I posted solidly for a good 4-6 months before my first sale thread. I found that established that I was (and always will be) here to stay and chat and enjoy and am not someone who appears and disappears, making me hard to contact.
