  1. I have a question... I know that if a comic is missing the Marvel Value Stamp, it gets deemed incomplete. Or any coupon for that matter even if it affects the story or not. My question is what about a piece of a page? Like suppose a small panel has been ripped out and is missing. Technically it affects the story. Does CGC also treat this as incomplete or do they view it as a flaw and grade accordingly? For context sake, assume it is a chunk slightly smaller than a standard post it note that has been torn from the book. What label does it get and assuming the rest of the book is in the 5.0-6.0 range otherwise, where does this take the grade? I appreciate all info and insight!
  2. @Get Marwood & I gets a nomination from me. Has given me lots of insight, lovely person to chat with and read posts anytime he does so. I can tell he is a passionate collector and a solid person!
  3. I have a couple books that would likely grade VF to VF+ But have a minute stain. One is my Marvel Spotlight 28 which looks great except for the smallest water stain on the cover in a spot where it’s real hard to see unless you spend a moment slowly scanning the cover. I didn’t know if that would allow such a book to stay VF so I have always considered it a 7.0 for safety sake
  4. Books like this intrigue me because I often wonder how CGC would grade such a book. Granted, if a book is in the 5.0 or lower range, I doubt if a small stain mark on a page factors in as much if at all. However, what if you had a 9.2 copy that someone dropped a small, dime size amount of coffee on an interior page margin? What would that do to a book? Automatic VF at best...lower??
  5. Apologies but I think better photos are needed...I cannot see the damage you speak of.
  6. Go collect often has these oddities...I recently catalogued a Fine copy of Batman #224 and GoCollect said it had a value of $140 in that grade. A few days later, it corrected to a more sensible $42.
  7. I would be interested to see how this grades...visually, 8.5-9.0 range but I am wondering if that bumps it down at all.
  8. It really looks like it....if I were buying, I would want closer up pics because it appears popped though, or on its way to being that way....
  9. That is a good way to think when sending in books to CGC. If you send books you love, and temper expectations, you can only be surprised. Plus you will learn. Once you have a decent amount of books (and sometimes it helps to get books in a range of grades from VF to NM), you can use them as references when hunting. Pictures and looking online at other people's books helps too but sometimes having them in had really lets you see what makes a 9.2 different from a 9.4 and a 9.4 different from a 9.6 or 9.8
  10. I dunno early 90s comics just make me wanna hurl lol.
  11. If the back cover was just a tad nicer (no ink blotch on bottom, no large crease), I could see 4.0 for sure. The other thing too that is hard to tell in the pic is if the staples are rusty. Either way, I am more comfy at a 3.5
  12. 7.0 from me...mainly because of that missing corner. A clean and press might really brighten this one up IMO.
  13. Not a chance with a detached bottom staple...maybe qualified but certainly not a blue label 8.5 6.0-6.5 blue label because of that detached bottom staple.
  14. Appears to be a stain at the top edge of the back cover...CGC hammers stains unless distributor ink ones and that appears to be coffee or something. 5.5 range.
  15. It's in nice shape...9.4. Please don't grade it though or ever spend more than $1 on one.
  16. 4.5 no problem with a shot at 5.0. Heck, I know the creases on the bottom are the main major flaw but I feel like I have seen similar wear/damage on 5.5 books.
  17. 5.0-5.5 Spine wear, small stain, edge wear, tanning halo to BC. Press and clean might flatten but I don't see it upping the grade or changing any of the flaws noted.
  18. A unwise man once said "I can poop in a jar and put it on Ebay for $10000 and become rich because what you see is what it is worth" In all seriousness, book has had few sales on eBay averaging $5 or so plus shipping. My guess at some of the inflated asking prices are that some are Canadian Price variants (a wave of bozos are trying to pump up prices on EVERY CPV) and it is a nice Vess cover. Plus, like anything at the moment, put a huge price on it and ya never know. Cards, pogs, crazy bones...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee its all worth a fortune weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
  19. To add fuel to this fire, I bought a solid 1.8 raw copy recently (posted pics in the PGM forum a few weeks ago) and I paid $200 for it. Knew I would never see another (locally) and some realllll rough looking copies (way worse than the one I found) were selling for $300+ so I figured it was a solid price for a great early FF book.
  20. Either the payoff will be big and the fans will get a big name or it will be minor and all those “clues” were beautiful misdirections meant to confuse and mislead. Either way I’m satisfied. But you know there will be a bunch of people who have money riding hard on SS3 who are loving the show now but will rip it to shreds if he doesn’t appear
  21. Seems 9.0 range at worst. Possibly higher
  22. Actually this is true and not true. I do find that a lot of the time, people sharing on here tend to grade conservatively. So you may have a lot of people here saying 8.5-9.0 when really it is a 9.2-9.4 That being said it’s good to be conservative. Never assume you have a 9.6 or 9.8. I know it’s intriguing and I myself am sending a couple books in just to see if they have that potential. I’m not expecting it but I’m curious. As for this I safely say 9.2-9.4 myself just because there always something you can’t see from pics. And hey if you want 9.6 or 9.8 just send in a bunch pre screened:)
