  1. ^That book has all the makings of a book that balloons to $40-60 now up until the movie and then dips back into oblivion after....still, could turn a perennial dollar bin book into a future $5-7 book constantly.
  2. Agree 100%. I think it deserves all the value it has and possibly even more. My argument is not that it should be worth less because of a poor cover. My argument is simply it has a poor cover, like a lot of first appearances actually.
  3. I mean hindsight is 20/20...but imagine they had a cover similar to what I suggested (Kirby greatness up close and personal on the FF's faces, fear on the crowd behind them), then you have 49 which visually is a great cover, then #50 has a black background littered with stars. That 3 issue arc would be fantastic both as a story and visually IMO. An artist should do that....re-imagine classic covers that are considered letdowns or even reimagine them in another way but drawn in a similar style.
  4. Okay but to have the Watcher front an center? His look has always just made me laugh. I would have rathered a close up of the FF, with fear in their faces, looking front and off page at the coming of Galactus. I agree, the idea and concept and mentioning of Galactus all work to drive intrigue, but visually I am not fan and I think greater things could have happened here. I really cannot get behind 1/6 of my cover devoted to the Watcher's legs....
  5. But...the Wizard is referencing the villain on the cover...not Dr. Strange. ST 110 teases nothing about Dr. Strange at all! At the least, FF#48 mentions Galactus' name. This has zero mention of Dr. Strange anywhere. And I will agree that FF#48 is a terrible cover. #49 is the best. #50 could have amazing sans the poo brown background.
  6. It is no better or worse than ASM #1 or FF#5. But I think the biggest thing obviously is Dr. Strange is not there. Not even his head in a corner bubble somewhere......
  7. I would press and would not be surprised if after it gets a 9.0-9.2 As is, I am safely saying 8.5
  8. Hi everyone, I am looking to trade the following low grade copy of DD #1. I am not interested in a straight sale at this time. Some of the books I am looking for include... ASM issues 7-16, 50 FF#48, 49 Note that I am in Canada. Let me know if this is something you have and would consider trading. Value wise, I am in the range of $800-1000 for trade. Thanks! Eric
  9. This is a sharp looking book. I would press...if worried consider looking up the difference between say an 8.5-9.0 copy and compare to a 9.2-9.4 copy. I believe currently, this book is 8.5-9.0 but I think a press could bump. If the bump is worth the $20-25 or whatever it costs to press, then do it
  10. And maybe you think, well the #88 is a 9.4-9.6 so maybe worth grading and selling and then keeping the rougher 88 in there for the buyer. If you remove both 88's, good luck selling for more than 50 cents a book.
  11. If you are selling a lot, I always try to move by some means other than Ebay. Locally, put ads up, even here. As for the book you asked about, a CGC 9.6 can be had in the $125-150 range. Less than that grade wise, and you are not looking at much profit. High grade raws tend to sell for $20-40. If I were selling that lot you have in particular, I would expect to get $2 a book, so in the ballpark of $100 and that is being optimistic. Reality? I probably take $75-100, If you think you can do better than that by selling each book one at a time, grading some and selling, etc. well then you have to ask yourself if the time is worth it. You could spend over a year trying to maximize value and put a lot of time in effort into making $200 from all of them but again...the time and effort part.
  12. I see it better now. If it was just foxing, I could see a possible 6.5-7.0 despite how heavy it is. However, adding in that chocolate stain bumps me down to 5.0 range still
  13. Possible big reveals and how I would rank them on an awesomeness scale... 1. Magneto (means mutants are here) 2. Professor X (see above) 3. Mephisto (the next big baddie, at least for the mystic Marvelites) 4. Ultron (and the point of him returning would be....???) 5. Quicksilver (see above...yawn) I am fine with seeing Quicksilver as part of her "reality" but to bring him back completely? Meh...I don't care about him at all. Don't undo deaths MCU unless greatness can come of the undoing. And that rarely happens. I suppose there are other reveals that could be huge like some villain we have not thought of (at least not in relation to this show).
  14. I think the masses have hit the nail on the head 7.0-7.5
  15. I think you mean Marvel Team Up #131..... 8.0-8.5 from me. That top crease is very noticeable.
  16. Looks sharp. 9.4-9.6 for me, and I would not be surprised to see a 9.8
  17. This...I am at 6.5 as is but think 7.0 and maaayyybbbeee 7.5 is achievable.
  18. I give it a 4.5-5.0 personally because of the staining. It is so hard to tell if it is just oxidation or what it is....is it foxing in some spots? I know CGC tends to give Fine grades for books with foxing but for me, I am taking it a tad lower to be safe. I would not be stunned to see a 5.5 or 6.0 from CGC but if those stains are actual foreign substances on the paper rather than the paper changing due to past poor storage conditions, I feel it will be hit harder.
  19. I bought my first comic online around 2001 or 2002 (my dad did for me, as I was underage and could not set up an account). I remember it was a lot of PPTSS with some early issues including a ragged copy of issue 3. I got it for 99 cents with like $5-6 shipping for a dozen comics. That was 18+ years ago...more than half my life ago!
