  1. It is such a terrible book. I paid $40 for my copy and even that felt like a rip off once I read it.
  2. It is an estimated turnaround time. Not exact. Good luck fighting a pointless fight. And if it is a $50,000 book, it will likely still be so in a couple months when you get it back. Consider the fact that NO ONE ELSE ON PLANET EARTH would grade such a book and have it back to you in 5 days.
  3. Y'all are harsh. CGC is not that mean to spine ticks. A clean and press with smoothen out the right edge and sharpen up the back. Not sure if that is a tape pull or stain though on the back bottom cover. 7.0-7.5 from me.
  4. My grade is I want it 4.0-4.5 for a regular book but the GA bump is real I tells ya so a 5.0 would not surprise me
  5. It is possible. Also possible that nothing was really pressable on the book to begin with. I try to hold my books under a good light and examine from all angles. If the thing is flat with no bends or anything, a press is passed on because it is unlikely to do a thing. As soon as I see any faint indents, I automatically opt for a press. Also, I don't use CGC for my pressing. Ever. For this reason and the additional time it takes them. It pays to have an experienced presser who is maybe a bit more but who also helps advise you when to spend or not on pressing.
  6. Hi all VF+ range copy of TMNT 7 Second printing for sale. Little colour rub near top staple and top of spine along back. Asking $80 USD shipped or best offer. First claim get it. PayPal for payment please. I ship from Canada. If you have any concerns upon arrival, return within 30 days. I am happy to answer any questions. Thanks for looking!
  7. Keep FF as that’s a beautiful low grade beauty and something I actually like. Sell the 181 and maybe use the money selling to get something else I desire more
  8. They have a spot for drop off yes. But I’m not interested in dealing with them. CGC would have to burn me pretty badly before I moved to try their services
  9. Bump! Claimed but no reply from the claimer so these are still available. Price adjust to $75USD shipped obo as the I found the other two issues of the Horror In The Dark title so that run is complete. Both VF/NM
  10. Does anyone know the guy. It also seems odd that a scammer would continue to talk to me. After he received his gift he was very kind, asking about what I wanted in my mystery box, talking about the books received. Even a week after asking me what I would like in the mystery box, it was him who took the initiative to reach out saying he was waiting on something for the box (earlier he had mentioned tracking down some pence Nova copies for me). I don't know, it just seemed super involved for someone with then intent on ghosting and leaving two people without gifts. But hey, maybe that was his angle all along.......sad.
  11. So I voted HOS but…. I poked around at his activity and he posted a decent amount, shared photos. He eve started a journal entry sharing his pence copies (some nice stuff). It seems odd he would join and interact for a few months just to get some free gifts and then disappear. If he ever returns with some sort of explanation (or heaven forbid if something worse happened) then obviously this should be removed) I know @HollyJollyOne (or someone) takes all the addresses for the Holiday exchange so maybe moving forward if a newer member joins in September of this year with a Shropshire England address, perhaps that can be flagged as this individual creating a new persona in an attempt to continue this nasty tradition (if that is what is happening here)
  12. Hi all Wondering what the transfer rust mark on the back will do grade wise. Thanks!
  13. If your grammar and question asked are unclear, people tend to point that out in varying ways. If English and grammar are not your strength, perhaps noting that before typing (or proofreading your question) will help garner more productive responses in the future is all.
  14. Apologies but I am not familiar that marvel brought back the value stamp...I am sure posting in the modern comics section might attract a few more eyes of people that are more familiar with that era of book
  15. So many gracious boardies here. Im in Canada so whoever wants to send me something with that in mind, shoot me a PM. First one I read I’ll take much thanks! And if Canada is a deal breaker it’s all good. I’ll still participate in this years because I know fellas like Mr Purvis are the minority here
  16. Yes I sent him a gift. He never asked about shipping to help with the one he was sending me. He stated in February (our last correspondence) that he was waiting on something for my gift and it would be out within a couple weeks. To my knowledge he has not been on the boards since And I know he received my prize because he thanked me for the Miller Daredevils and others I sent him.
  17. 6.0 as is. Spine ticks, corner crease bottom right, soiling of some kind top edge of cover. A cleaning could help.
  18. I wouldn't say that personally. I spend time "listing" books once a week if that. Usually its in spurts too. It certainly isn't something I spend hours on to the point where it consumes my time. It's a free time endeavour. Or "hey I have 10 minutes, I will toss together some books and list them." I've stopped doing auctions. Used to do well but too much time and I wasn't enjoying it. So much easier to post on the groups I am in, couple good pics and a price (or best offer) and let it either sell or not.
  19. Probably already posted but the answer is here I don't know that the stance has changed over time (ie double covers graded pre 2021 maybe were just given the grade of the highest cover) but if they were just giving the highest grade for the best cover, and not taking into account the rest of the book, that to me is wrong. This means that CGCs current approach is actually an improvement (gasp!) upon prior practice, if prior practices were to just say "hey inner cover is 8.5 so book is also 8.5" In probably more than 95% of all double or multiple covers, it is likely that the interior of the book is fine, hence why when you see the higher cover noted as 9.0, that is also the grade it gets. Newer collectors and Youtubers though in recent years have perpetuated the idea that "highest cover grade = book grade" which is not always true (and rightfully so if the book has other interior issues). So while more rare, it is possible (and makes perfect sense) to see a double cover, with the highest cover assigned an 8.5 grade but the book overall gets 8.0 due to an interior edge of page rip, maybe some interior foxing or yellowing, maybe some slight rust on the staples, etc.
  20. I disagree. That approach works for me. Keys of any kind are usually taken out and sold for as close to market value as I can get. Runs of issues of desired titles and characters have sold well for me on FB and ebay And random character related lots I sell locally. Lots consisting of 10, 15, 20 comics for $15, $20 or $25 I toss up on a local buy and sell page, and usually are sold within a few weeks. It's the obscure stuff (or low grade stuff that has little valye) you would find in $1 or less bins that I cannot move. So I toss them in as freebies when someone buys one of the key books OR I bulk out at less than 20 cents a book. Or I donate them to children to hopefully inspire one person to continue collecting comics.
