I think a lot of people have hit some key points. Especially involving your wife in the process Depending on the time you have, selling 12k books (or even 10k if you kept some) will take time. A year is not beyond impossible though, neither is 6 months if you have the time. You could do it quick and take a dollar hit. Or see if the time is worth the extra money. On a small scale, I just sold 750 comics for $275. Assorted 70's and 80's and 90's filler mostly with some keys in there worth $10-20 a pop. Problem was I did not want to wait the potential years to sell some books for $0.50-$1 each. I was happier with the space. Plus they were books I probably spent 10 cents a pop on overall so to get $0.37 cents each for them is still a win.

That’s very kind of you but it all good:) I moreso don’t like the idea of someone sneaking in to potentially get a gift and then disappear and never give back. That’s all. Seems shady. If that’s even what has happened

I'll play devil's advocate and disagree slightly here. If such a book existed and was part of a collection and this story was attached to it, there is the potential for it to garner more on the market. Comic fans appreciate a good bit of history with their books. Not all, but a larger number than I ever would have thought.

Um most people would be insulted. If I had 100 books that I valued at $1000 but priced at $750 and you offered me $100, I would gladly never do business with you ever again. Now, I am not one who buys and sells to try to make money. However, I do tend to average 2-5 larger buys (500+ comics) per year. I try to place my starting offers around 50% of the perceived value in these cases at bare minimum and usually end up paying 60-70% of the actual value. Again, because for me I would rather spend $2000 on a collection, keeps 50-100 books for myself and sell the remaining to break even. That is the goal for me. If money making is your goal, obviously your percentages might be lower but 10% is insulting.

Weren't a handful of characters (like Hulk and even Iron Man), done in sort of a prototype manor in earlier pre superhero issues of titles like Tales of Suspense or Strange Tales? You had Groot from that time period, Fin Fan Foom, an Iron Man who is NOT the Iron Man we know and a Hulk too! At the time these were quick and done stories but some of their core concepts were evolved when Marvel went full superhero in the early 60s

My only Planet in my collection. Rip on the back is about 2 inches and also affects the last page (same length rip). The stain is just on the top edge of the back cover. Appreciate all opinions!

If you watch certain YouTubers they seem to always say “oh the highest graded cover is the grade it gets”. Which GENERALLY is true because if an outside cover is 6.5 and an inside cover is 9.0, chances are the interior pages are fine so it makes sense the grade overall matches that of the interior cover. However I think reality is shown in this book here. The interior cover is a 9.0 but there are other flaws like the rusty staples that being the entire book down. Which is right because when they grade any book, it is not just they cover. It’s the entire book they grade.

On a VG book or lower, it may not factor in at all. Lots of variables though. How severe is it? Does it bleed onto pages? It could cause a 0.5-1.0 drop if so on an otherwise clean VG outright book. For higher grade books (ie if that is the only major flaw) the impact will be greater.

I think CGC might be even harder on this one. 3.5 from me.

Stains and rust make me say yuck...normally. I would take them on this book any day though Grade is 2.5 however from me

Hmm I guess yours got dinged harsh for those little indents along tip edge...but hey Mark Jewellers insert. WIN no matter what!

I'd venture 8.0 after all is said and done....maybe higher but I would take that as a major win if it happened

Yeah but his copy has a MUCH worse spine split and damage plus chunks missing...yours appears 3.0 and is, his appears 1.5-1.8 and was graded as such

I was at 5.5-6.0 before scrolling Awesome book! They hit creases hard and this one did not appear pressable
