  1. Hi all, Couple lower grade copies here. 205 has some creasing and the bottom staple a detached. 206 has fair amount of wear and the centrefold is detached. Also a couple dog ears on interior pages. Calling them both in the 3.0 range. Asking $260US shipped for both. Open to offers. First claim gets and trumps any negotiations. PayPal for payment please. Returns if unhappy. Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for looking!
  2. 6.5ish for me That contact soiling on the back cleans up well on the magazines. I am only an amateur cleaner and I find I have had success cleaning up spots like that to make my own look nice!
  3. I’ve got these couple heading my way…should be in hand by Tuesday. Canadian editions too!
  4. Overall this site/forum is the most comprehensive community filled with amazing knowledge, conversation and books you can buy! I love it hence why I’m usually here once a day or more. Yes there are certain people who may run people the wrong way or come off as “rude” or “sarcastic” all the time. Also remember that when you read a message, you create the tone. Maybe you guess correct, maybe you don’t. Sometimes a comment isn’t meant to be as bad as it sounds. But again I’ll go back to the ability to block certain people and avoid seeing their posts. I’ve done it for two people on here and it doesn’t change a think other than occasionally seeing a post they made that I can’t see. Which is probably for the best as I might needlessly reply and get involved in a wasted conversation.
  5. Before I comment I always ask myself…is arguing this point worth the time? Why do I care to try and prove this person wrong really? They won’t ever be like “hey you are right, I was wrong”. with that I feel I avoid any issues and always maintain mostly friendly conversation. Also…you can ignore certain people so if they reply or try to get a rise from you you never see it. Also also if you really can’t be nice to new people, forbid yourself from the newbie section.
  6. Drop it again! $345 shipped! How low can we go? How low can we go? ;)
  7. A 3.5 would be a the max I could see. Hoping for more won't happen with that amount of spine split and the piece missing. Less would be very very harsh. Visually it is appealing but obvious structural issues put it in the 3.0 zone for me!
  8. Yup. He mentioned he was waiting on something for me back mid January and I said take your time. Flash forward to start of March and I remembered and sent him a message over two weeks ago but sadly have not heard from him. I hope he is ok….
  9. Hi all, Looking to move all these as a lot. Lot includes Astonishing Tales 32 (VF), 33 (VF-), 35 (VF-), 36 (VF) Iron Fist 7 (FN+ pen date on cover) Ms Marvel 4 (VF/NM), 5 (VF/NM), 6 (VF), 7 (VF/NM), 8 (FN/VF), 9 (VF/NM) And finally, Marvel Premiere 15. Looks great BUT the back corner was ripped offing ago and a small piece of tape used to adhere it. Sooooo maybe it’s a 5.0-5.5??? You be the judge! Asking $425US shipped for it all! Open to offers. Paypal for payment please. Return accepted if unhappy. No hall of shamers please. First claim gets it though. Happy to answer questions and thanks for looking!
  10. @The Sledder What does one do if it has been over two months since I last heard from my prize donor and I have not received a prize I don’t know if I’ve been ghosted or if something unfortunate happened to a certain member as it has been since early February that they were last active….
  11. It will definitely add value, maybe as much as double or more depending on the grade, and would be awesome to see
  12. Hi, Welcome to the boards! If you wish to have some help sorting through and pricing books, I am fairly in tune with current values as I frequently buy and sell and pay attention to several sources that highlight books that are considered "hot" or valuable due to whatever circumstances (movies, TV shows, etc.). I would be happy to take a look and offer some assistance as well as advice on how to sell them. In the meantime, to answer some of your questions 2) The collection includes some sets of three comics sealed in their original poly bags. The bags still have their original retail price stickers. I assume that I should not attempt to remove any retail labels from poly bags. Is that right? Depends...some multi packs as they are called from the 70s and 80s can sell quite well sealed. Other stuff, like 90s era books in the polybags, do not. 3) The collection includes a few tabloid size comics that still have their original retail price stickers. I assume that I should not attempt to remove these retail labels. Is that right? I would not remove any stickers on an actual comic or magazine size comic unless you have had experience doing so without harming the book 4) Many of the older comics have been defaced by having additional staples added to their bindings. I presume that Mom was trying to “kid proof” them. I have been told that this destroys any value that they might have had to a collector, and that I might as well trash them. I am reluctant to do that, as the first three Star Wars comics fall into this category, and I would think that someone might still value them. I assume that removing the added staples would be a mistake. Is that right? Again, if you have never done this, removing the staples yourself could result in more damage, although compared to removing a price sticker, it is much easier. But even with the staples removed and staple holes showing, it still kills the value. A VF range book could drop down quite a bit. If it is a VG or less range book to begin with, there is a chance the drop will be minimal if at all 5) I am willing to have some of these graded, but have no idea how to identify those that are worth the time and expense of professional grading. I would appreciate advice as to how to proceed. A list of books would help here...along with pictures so people can give opinions on grades 6) I have access to a scanner. Should I scan and upload pictures of a few of these to the forum? A few representative copies might be sufficient for you to get an idea of their real value. Yes...you can upload them here or if you want a grade estimate, there is a forum called "Hey Buddy Can you Spare a Grade..." where fellow board members will chime in with grade estimates on comics. Just make sure you get a front, back and if possible, closer up images. A full scan of front and back at least will work though. Hope this helps to start. Good luck with the endeavour!
  13. Also, beautiful books. I love old rough books that are still complete like this. Lovely stuff!
  14. I agree. I would not risk it...and with the exception of a couple, a 0.5 bump is likely not worth the time, cost and potential to damage more (ie pop a staple on a book)
  15. I mean, I slabbed some of my books....books I have owned since I was 12-15. And I love them as is. Doing so likely protects them a bit more than they would have been plus I was curious about my grading abilities compared to CGC after all these years. Finally, I know that over time doing this to some of my more important books will make it easier on my kids and family (or myself) when it comes time to part with them. Until then though, I average buying 300-500 back issue books for my collection each year and try to keep up with reading them. And really, of the 5000 or so books I own, probably only a couple hundred are worth getting graded one day.....so I will peck away at that as time goes by!
  16. I am the same...granted there are still about 200-300 books in my "to read pile" but the expectation is that they get read. I have only personally slabbed some of my collection this past year. Yes, I know I will never get to read them again but after having may of them for 15-20 years and having only read them once or twice in that span, I figured if I ever really wanted to again, I would find another way. I am much the same way with books as I am movies...once I see a movie, I have no desire to watch it again. Even if it is a great movie. Main reason being I don't usually get the same joy when a rewatch something as the joy I got the first time. Comics are the same plus there are so many more books I want to physically read and enjoy before my time here is done so that becomes my focus. It is how I live with the fact I have some books now as purely display pieces....and I love them for that aspect too.
