  1. I like referring to the wording of this site which borrows from Overstreet https://collectibleshop.tripod.com/overstreet-grading-definitions.htm
  2. Might have a chance still at 8.5 but yes. Unless someone has proof that it’s less harshly graded. Google very fine grades compared to near mint grades and study the wording. Don’t think there’s much mention of allowable spine roll/curl in the higher grade ranges aka 9.0 and up
  3. As is, probably 7.5-8.0. But a press could eliminate most if not all of that and put a book back in the 9.0-9.6 range no problem depending on other flaws
  4. I will be harsher on it and say 5.5, maybe even 5.0. The staples in center appear rusted? Is that the case? If so definitely closer to 5.0. The fading is uniform and I have seen flawless books with such fade hit 7.0-7.5. Add on the foxing and other minor wear and that is why I am lower here.
  5. The harsh person inside me says 5.5 which I know in reality means 6.0-6.5 is more likely.
  6. Definitely slab to protect. It is likely in the 3.0 range but still a great book to own even in lower grade! I will second the recommendation against pressing. Might make it present a bit better but I don't feel it will help the grade. Plus if an amateur (or even some of the hacks at CGC) presses it, it could mess up that delicate looking spine even more which I would not think you would want.
  7. To be fair, I would probably be nominated worst NBA player if voted....
  8. I’m with others. Nicer than a 7.0 but more in the 8.5 range for me
  9. I mean. I compensated. Then corrected. Then undergraded. Then overgraded. Then subtracted 1.5
  10. I feel like I compensated a bit for last rounds under grading. I also feel a couple we’re pretty straight forward but then again…..
  11. I mean I don’t think it’s a sin. I have two long boxes of comics from the 60s -90s that are behind collectibility. Maaayybbbeeee someone would pay me $60 for the two boxes but I use em for crafts and cut out stuff….images and panels I like. I have a couple future projects in mind so whoever I get something water soaked or ripped up or more rough than I care to own, I add to the bin
  12. Why don’t people talk about manga comics? Because they don’t collect manga comics Im sure someone out there has a YouTube channel or whatever that does. It’s not my personal interest so I have never looked.
  13. Eying this one. Thoughts on the tiny tears/rips to top edge. Seems to be a production thing.
  14. Yeah as is I agree 7.5-8.0 but if that is a crease it looks pressable and if removed, this would look as good or maybe a tad better than my own 9.0 copy so something to consider....
  15. I am at 8.5-9.0 with a clean likely ensuring the higher and maybe even a tad better.
  16. So like many companies and business and industries, CGC was flooded with demand and were not set to keep up. They aren't the only company that this has happened too during the pandemic. They have within the last year grown their facility and expanded greatly and with that can come further delays and quality issues (again, can happen when any company is forced to expand quicker than expected). Not excusing it all, just providing context. Reality is if you sent books off between April and October of last year, you are probably waiting 6-12 months for books. Until the new staff becomes efficient and has experience, until they clear the backlog, we will see this for at least the first three quarters of 2022 and maybe longer if the demand stays high. I would like to see them limit taking submissions to get caught up or even to stop signing events until they have more reasonable turnaround times but you also have to know CGC is making money right now. Lots. And they know for as many issues as they have, their competitors have done NOTHING to step ahead during a time when they could have. CGC are kings of the comic grading world and we are the peasants they serve. Patience is required and frustration can be calmed if this is exercised. Or you know if people chill a bit on sending in every single copy they have of Wolverine 1 from 1988.....
  17. Exactly Plus my juvenile brain sees “crypt”, thinks Tales From the Crypt and then I just get sad that I don’t have any in my collection
  18. As an adult, it is not a great Batman movie As a child, it is great Visually, I never had a problem with Keaton as Batman. I never would have known as a kid the existence of the Dark Knight but I can see how one would be disappointed as an older teen or young adult when the film came out if one was hoping for that same dark vibe that story gave off. I will be honest as years go by though and I look back and re read Dark Knight, I find it kind of horrible more and more. Sure I get what it did for comics but I despise the artwork which for me is the main reason to enjoy comics. The story also feels old now, maybe because the narrative has been spun before since in different ways. But that could apply to anything as time progresses. It is tough sometimes to stand up to the tests of time.
  19. You are talking to a guy that whenever he hears the term bitcoin, he thinks of those dollar store coin chocolates...with the gold foil...that you can literally bite. Maybe that shows I am uneducated to a degree but when you have a concept that even experts have a hard time explaining, that concerns me. But hey, if you can make money off of something that is supposedly unhackable and exists only digitally, go for it. I am doing just fine working and doing it the old fashion way. Less risk and I am just as happy
  20. To me, it does not appear married at all. Again, ask yourself why would someone replace staples? The usual reason is because the originals had rust. There is no real reason otherwise to mess around with staples (unless you had a book where they were not firmly punched through the centrefold and were trying to replace an original poor staple manufacture job with your own). The staples on the book you have have rust/tarnish on them so why would someone replace rusty staples with rusty staples? Granted, these replacement staples could have rusted since they were replaced. But the final thing I ask myself is is it on a book that matters. I am not an expert but that book does not appear to be a high value book (I cant tell which issue but it appears to be early 70s FF). Thus taking the time to replace them seems pointless. Just double check the top staple. If the holes and indents where the staple folds over then I think there should be zero worry. The bottom staple looks great and the top, while appearing different in images, is likely fine also.
