  1. Yes those look damaged and yes that would affect the grade. Maybe 9.0-9.2 if the rest of the book is perfect. Books go through a lot. All it takes is someone careless in the shipping and distribution process and that’s what you get. Maybe your shop isn’t the best and just chucks them on a shelf. I know the shop that once existed where I live was horrendous for not caring about the books and you’d always find corner damage on stuff.
  2. This episode, while still good, was the worst one so far for me personally. I feel like it took too long to progress the story. Like vision being with Darcy really was a waste of time. And so was the whole “hey I have an aerospace engineer friend with a tank” and it didn’t work. But maybe that was all just to get us all horny for Reed Richards or Riri or Blue Marvel or.... Plus I find it odd that anyone would find the Agatha Harkness “reveal” a revelation. Wikipedia had Kathryn Hahn listed as this since day one. I think the bigger reveal is yet to come because Agatha as a villain is a pretty big departure. It seems pretty obvious that someone has something over her and I don’t see anyone other than Mephisto making sense. Why? I don’t think the true villain is defeated in this show, meaning whoever it is bleeds into Multiverse of Madness. You mean to tell me that Marvel is going to use a guy like Chthon or even Immortus as their next big screen baddie? No way. Mephisto is already in the MCU and has been references going back to Avengers 1.
  3. As it sits, easily a 4.5 to me. I would press and clean to ensure that grade and would not be surprised at all to see a 5.0 Lovely date stamp too!
  4. Right? How do those sales factor in because there is a growing marketplace there it seems and unless someone working for any of the tracking sites is trying to keep track of those sales too, they would go missed from the data
  5. I also dislike stains but more so the large covering a quarter of the page variety more than the dime sized fainter water stain variety.
  6. Didn't Agatha Harkness have a son named Nicholas Scratch who was an FF villain....first appeared in FF #185??? And copies will disappear from ebay in 3....2....1.... I will add that I agree Agatha being the big baddie is a far departure...and I wonder if the leverage Mephisto has has something to do with her son. Hence why he is using her to get the twins for whatever reason.
  7. True...whether it be pen, grease or marker, the only removal process involves scrubbing it and inks underneath off. Heck I have even encountered some pencil on the back cover of my comics (like a neatly written 75c), that is stubborn and takes much patience beforre dry cleaning can remove it. Usually I just leave it though since those things dont bother me.
  8. Nope And that is not pen, that is marker. Lotsa shops back in the day would marker price down their books. I have a couple (including my ASM #129 with a 7c on the cover for a 7 cents markdown). It sucks a bit when it is dead center but removing it arguably makes the comics appear worse, as you have to literally remove colour underneath the marker or pen. So rather have a marker 7, you have a white outline of it after scrubbing the inks off. Personally, I don't mind this at all. Affects the grade sure but in a way, adds to the history of when you could get a book (like mine or yours) for a mere 7 cents
  9. I hear ya. If I found a mid grade copy for $60 or less, I might consider it. And even then, I would be tempted to sell because this is a book I see cooling off hard and fast as soon as we are a month removed from this show's end and are diving into the next thing.
  10. Why though? Is this really a character that we think the MCU is going to build around? I remember when, during the heat of it all leading up to Thor Dark World, you could sell that Thor #344 first Malekith for like $60-100 easily. Now? That book is staler than forgotten toast in a toaster. This is a Silver Age book so granted, it will always have a bit higher value due to age but for people to be spending $200, 300, 500+ on a nice copy seems incredibly risky.
  11. I refer to both but GPA gives you a good sense of trend...and today, trends can change drastically month to month. If it is a big book with few sales, I think you look at as many as you can. See what surrounding grades are also selling for, see what recent books in similar condition are listed at and yes, even gander ebay sales if any. That should give you an idea where a book's price should be even if a sale has not been seen for several months or even a year. I also notice a lot of bigger books selling on Instagram...books in the 5K-15K range, which to my knowledge, there is no way to track or really even research unless you happen to be following certain people/tags and catch that the book sold for "x" dollars.
  12. Huh, I don't see these flaws in the pics...at least not to the degree CGC seems to make it seem I should see them. I was also feeling 8.0-8.5ish.... Makes me wonder how mine would grade
  13. 9.0-9.2 for the top and bottom spine corners and bottom right corner.
  14. Books have a stacking curl. Press will fix. You can bag and board and stack under heavy books but even having them sit like that for a year isn't likely to fix it. A pro presser as suggested is the best avenue, especially if you intend to grade.
  15. Def one with 9.0 potential and dare I even say possibly 9.2 after clean an press. As is a solid 8.0. I think the pages are definitely white from what I can see. Beauty book! Do share once she’s back!
  16. Of course store stamps count! Love to see old store stamps or heck even ones that are still around but were stamped eons ago!
  17. Without the piece missing, 4.0-4.5 potential. But that piece matters, regardless of where it is so 2.0 is where I would be....maybeee 2.5 Annnd I just realized the answer is given haha. This is a great low grade copy though and for a 2.0, is excellent even with the missing chunk. Def the kind of 2.0 I would want and would expect to get a premium as far as 2.0s are concerned.
  18. If the book is a very valuable book, I would have an expert scrape off. Or, experiment myself by applying white out to junkers in my junker bin and see if I can remove safely so that I felt confident I could do myself (without damaging the book). As for grade, what has been said seems likely. If used on a white area, it is possible a restored label would be given. If just done to cover up pen, it may get blue and be treated as a defect. If done to cover up pen ON a white background well that might go either way....
  19. I mean I can consistently grade out of revenge if that’s what you are into
  20. Yeah I could see 7.0. Those wrinkles at top keep it from easily VF/NM
  21. I’ll buck there trend and say that personally I would go after Spidey books...14, 129 and FF books like 5, 48, 49 but that’s because those are more my jam. I think the latter could be poised to really climb in the coming years.
  22. I feel like you go with the books that are proven winners. Hulk 181 or GSX 1 are two of those books. Ultimate Fallout probably has room to grow for sure but I don’t think it ever comes close to those other two. I could be wrong but I would never bet against Wolverine, even if I am not his biggest fan.
  23. Here is a picture for reference...and as it appears to be torn out for the purpose of the ad (I believe the chunk missing is where you input your info to mail off to become like the stud above). I have a feeling CGC would consider that a coupon clipped, even though it is torn out. So, presumably, automatic green label? I guess I am curious what if the chunk were missing elsewhere...like not in a coupon spot. What if it was just an entire corner of one page, about this size, that was gone. Would it get green or could it get a low end blue label?
  24. Agree The spine bends/indents seen don't appear to break colour (or at least several of them don't). This means a good presser can likely eliminate them and make the book appear much nicer and grade higher by at least a point or two.
