  1. Hmmmmm or even a store stamp? Does CGC do anything to validate date stamps or store stamps when seen? That sounds sneaky to try but I would be intrigued
  2. Thanks! And yes I plan on not viewing anything until they are returned. Partially because this is what I would do anyway but mainly because I sent them to @thirdgreenhamand he graciously pressed and submitted! So I won’t know until they are on my doorstep!!!! Also, my friend submitted his GI Joe 21 (a Canadian price copy) and ASM 210 so when the books are back we plan on having a physically distanced reveal party in the garage (and maybe a few celebratory pops!)
  3. I’d say it has VF potential but as is calling it 7.0-7.5 is conservative which is never a bad way to grade!
  4. Yes it was I edited that in my entry thanks:) I’m not silly enough to slab the regular copy
  5. So I finally made my first ever submission to CGC! I am excited and hopefully these will be back to me by June. Here is a list of the books submitted, along with reasons why I submitted it! I also did a video showcasing the books and my grade estimates. Book 1: X-Men #101. Anticipated grade after a press is 7.0. I would be fine with a 6.5 and elated with anything higher. I am getting this one pressed because it is a great cover and a book that I MAY sell one day. Book 2: Ms Marvel #18. Anticipated grade after a press is 9.0-9.2. I am curious how high this one can go as it is very clean and this is part of the reason I am submitting it is to see how nice it really is. Book 3: Incredible Hulk #340. Anticipated Grade is 9.4. I would be fine with 9.2 but this one is sharp and was not recommended to be pressed so I feel it also has a shot at being higher. Great cover and once that displays better than it reads so that is why I am slabbing it. Book 4: Amazing Spider-Man #238. Has the tatooz! After a press, anticipating a 7.0-7.5. I would be thrilled with higher. Just a great Spidey book and cover I love! Book 5: Amazing Spider-Man #300. 9.0-9.2 anticipated grade. This would be a joy to get in 9.4 but I am not betting on that. Again, another great higher grade Spidey that I felt should be slabbed. Book 6: Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16. Anticipated 9.0 after a press. MAY consider selling if it climbs to a certain point, otherwise a cool cover of a character I am excited to see in the future MCU. Book 7: Amazing Spider-Man #361. Anticipated 8.5. Was not recommended for pressing. Very curious where this falls. 8.0 would be fine, lower would be sad. Higher would be fantastic. Again, another book I have had a while now and figured it should be slabbed. Book 8: Amazing Spider-Man #252. Anticipated 7.0-7.5. Love the cover and a great one to display. Book 9: Amazing Spider-Man #316. Anticipated 8.5 after press. Has the MJ insert and is one of 2 that I know of to exist. Excited to see if it grades higher, if not a cool book and great one to display! Book 10: Spawn #1 Newsstand. Anticipated 9.2-9.4. Another one I am curious to see if higher happens and one that I may sell if it hits this grade or better as I do have a regular Spawn #1 and for me, the sale could go towards some much better stuff! Book 11: Daredevil #1. Anticipated 1.0. Real rough but I have to slab it. Anything higher would be a joy! I will follow up when they return to see how terrible my guesses were! I am anticipating some disappointments but also hoping for a surprise or two!
  6. Spend some time Youtubing, searching and finding examples of pressable defects. If your books have these, press them. If they don't, you are likely wasting money on a press. If you don't want to take the time to research this then just press em all!
  7. I don’t press but I do do some self dry cleaning. I’ll post an update back pic eventually. Its a nicer than the last copy I had which although was not used as a coaster, the spine was split and real rough. Plus a Halloween date stamp makes me happy
  8. Thanks! I’m in the process of cleaning the back so it’s a little sharper at least.
  9. I am curious how low you lovely folks would grade this one. I LOVE the October 31 date stamp! Sadly, someone set their coffee or beer or some beverage on it and it left a couple circular indents and faint stain marks (not seen on the interior of the cover though). So where does this fall? Appreciate all opinions!
  10. The biggest mistake new submitters to CGC make is thinking that because they bought a brand new comic 5-10 years ago and put it away that is automatically is a 9.8. There is a chance it is sure. Maybe a higher chance than an older book or one you bought second hand for sure. But so much factors in. What is most likely is to assume a comic you bought new and bagged within the last 5-10 years is a 9.2-9.4. Then if you do get graded and it comes in higher you won’t be disappointed
  11. It’s getting graded and I will share upon its return! I would also dance if I got a 1.5 or 1.8 haha. Mine presents very well but added staples kinda hurts it
  12. With that many ticks an 8.0-8.5!? I dunno I would safely grade at 7.5 and if it came in higher I would be elated.
  13. 1.5-1.8 Its rough line my Daredevil 1 but oh so slightly better (I feel my DD is only a 1.0) so I think yours would be a tad higher. Def not a 2.0
  14. See I still don’t know how high a book can go being detached. I feel 3.0 is generous or reserved for a golden age book but it seems silver agers are starting to get some of the leniency. I would say 2.0-2.5 no problem though on this one.
  15. It’s best not to chase 9.8 or 9.9. Could you be missing out? Sure. Could you be paying extra for no real gain? Sure. Ive yet to meet anyone who can spot a 9.9 or 10. I’ve seen people do very well in spotting 9.8s and also seen them do only relatively well (say 13 out of 20 submissions). It’s a gamble that only you can assess the risk of. If you have the funds to do it then always press for the best chance. Otherwise become familiar with pressable defects and if you don’t see them, chances are money would be wasted on a press.
  16. Is this topic even a question? The only way people don’t pick Batman 1 is if they have a copy already and don’t have the other two.
  17. Oh and with the price this book commands why not spend the extra to press and see what happens
  18. I see 5.0...maybe 5.5. That spine has wear at staples and that corner part. I would be surprised if it hit higher than this and equally stunned if it came in lower as it is a great mid grade copy
  19. If you want to only get cards graded that are valuable, YOU have to do that research. That is not what CGC does.
  20. Good spot but I think it’s production. It is present on first page. I’d like to get an 8.0 after press so we shall see as I am intrigued to see what a press could do
  21. Definitely not a 2.0 and def not a 1.0 so 1.5-1.8 seems right on the money.
  22. It sure would! Apologies it didn’t attach the first time. That wrinkle isn’t on the back at all
