  1. looks to be in excellent shape. Always tough to say 9.8 w/o book in hand, so i'll go 9.6
  2. I believe it also matters what type of marker was used.
  3. Not if CCS does it. Not sure if 3rd party pressers have agreements with CGC which will let the sign stay valid
  4. Took my paper route money starting back in the late 70's and rode the bike ~3 miles to the LCS where I bought mid to high grade Hulk 181, FF 48, GSX 1, HoS 92 off the wall for prob around $10-20 Ones I picked up off the rack during my visits were DCP 26, NTT 2, Thor 337, DD 168 To this day I still remember dreaming about those in the glass case under the cash register when checking out - Showcase 4, FF 1 etc wish I could remember what they were going for back then
  5. I remember a few posts here saying 25, though I can't speak to their being the final word. Best thing to do is call CGC customer service
  6. I believe I see 4 very small spine tics and poss some small amount of ink smudge on the bar code box 9.2
  7. You get a big thumbs up for having a copy of the Daily News!!! I always turned it over and read the 50 pages of sports.....
  8. much better than my copy! 8.0-8.5 range from what I can see
  9. " 'ello. My name is Alien. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
  10. 1st episode bored me to tears.
  11. 13 oz is the 1st class envelope limit (though googling would show some listing it as 16 oz) Over that and you're looking at Priority Mail & destination zones I started using Pirate Ship from a post I saw here which can make use of USPS 'cubic' rates if your package is under a cubic foot in size. Not sure if Paypal/Ebay make use of that also. Over 13 oz and you're paying over $7 no matter what w/o using Media Mail
  12. No, u can submit as many or few as u want for grading & pressing. There are some extra services which require a minimum number of books like 'pre screening' where they will examine the books for a smaller fee before proceeding
  13. you didn't provide a close-up, but the ULC of the WW side looks like it has a ding also (from the last pic) If so those 2 may be enough to keep it from a 9.8 (not really sure about the the lower one you mentioned if all by itself)
  14. as is, a dozen or so dings/crease all around the edges of the comic. I'll guess ~7.5. I don't think the stamp hurts anything
  15. well of the thread is coming back to life....
  16. Unless CGC is somehow involved in the process, I don't see how the sig would verified. Try the 'Ask CGC' forum
  17. thanks for your service. Think of the Fair Market Value, which drives the Submission Level along with age, as an insurance value should something happen to the book while CGC has it. It also drives the USPS shipping fee back to you. CGC may tell you that they bumped the book up to a more expensive tier though & charge you that level. From what I've read on the boards, it doesn't happen that often (never happened to me). At any rate it's a question of how much risk you're comfortable with vs how much time you're willing to wait (especially with an accompanying press). One way to get an idea of the condition of a book is to post pics/scans in the "Buddy Can You Spare a Grade" forum where members will offer their opinions. Then you can look at Ebay completed sales or other sites to see what comics at that grade sold for Keep in mind. shipping 1 book maximizes your shipping costs. For ex 1 book could cost you $32 with USPS while 5 books *in the same submission tier* cost you a little over $5 per book. Best of luck.
  18. Slabs or raw? What price guide is OCBPG? Overstreet? Comicspriceguide.com is 1 site which gives prices for every grade, raw or slabbed. I don't think their slabbed guide is as good as GPA or gocollect.
  19. I've had to send 5-6 comics a few times and used larger poly bag mailers~12x16 so I could use thicker cardboard and wrap it in bubble wrap myself. Granted it's been just a handful of times but no problems so far
  20. Well he posted he 'came into them' which doesn't necessarily imply buying. Could be an inheritance maybe? Last thing you should do is rush into it if you're not sure of what your doing.
  21. Slabbing is worth it for selling IMO. It removes the worry about having a restored comic and makes it easier to find a price to sell it at
  22. You're passing Batman #5 & #6 to your son? He doesn't deserve you. I think I deserve you much better Preservation is the most important thing since you're talking time frame of decades. You don't have to have them graded to achieve that. Plus they could always slab them in the far future - assuming graded comics are still a thing by then. Maybe even the Newton Ring issue will finally be fixed! You can achieve preservation and appearance goals just by using a good mylar with an acid free board and keep it in an environment with low light & a constant proper humidity level (the latter applies to slabs too) You can try a free site like goCollect.com to see some prices associated with each grade level. The submission level $$$ amount is more like an insurance amount should something happen to them while in CGC's possession. It also affects postal insurance coming back to you if you uses USPS good luck!
  23. Hi & welcome, depends on the buyers intentions. If the buyer is interested in it as a 'collectible' then slabbed is the choice as it removes the worry about restoration and you're getting a professional grade that will hold (due to the case) Speculators may like raw because they want to slab it themselves to get a higher value. Obviously if you want to read it and don't have X-Ray vision you'll get it raw.
